Hearts would be within their rights to cut the allocation. It's been getting steadily worse for years. That was ridiculous tonight. I think Shankland, Fraser, and Kent were all hit by things chucked from behind the goal. Just the ones I noticed.

Interesting to see how Hibs respond if we do cut theirs. We could sell the tickets no bother, I'm not sure Hibs could, but their fans would insist they reciprocate.

I'd be surprised if tonight goes unremarked on by the club.

I would totally understand hearts  cutting the allocation if I’m honest. I was just behind the goals and the fear on both the hearts players and fans was really worrying. It’s a drastic step as it would really impact the atmosphere, similar to the old firm derby now. Fear is a powerful emotion and the hearts board, much like their players and fans last night may succumb to it.

With the Hibs support being as physically capable as it is the army would have called in to stop us if we decided to just take over the stadium(I’m glad we decided against doing that btw as believe me it was being seriously considered after the penalty.

As for the objects being Thrown from our end there was  guy next to me that got kicked out for throwing a can of red bull at the hearts goal keeper. You’re lucky if that was 2 minutes after kick off. I wasn’t slow in berating the guy as the cops led him out.

how did he miss the goalie from that distance ?

  2. I have to say I like the look of McKirdy. Having read a bit about him and having a quick look at his instagram, he seems to be a total bam.

I think the bam to normal ratio in the squad has been off for a while now so good to see that the recruitment team have taken steps to address that issue.

Now it’s time to browse the free agent market for a maverick, ball carrying, South American playmaker who may or may not smoke 40 fags a day.

Bojang, Tavares and McGeady shouldn't be at the club but it's a little late to return to sender.

Of the players to head off, I'd suggest Campbell and Doidge make the most sense.

Henderson I don't really buy into, would far rather have Tait playing.

Stevenson and Hanlon arguably at the wrong end of their career but surely have some use throughout the season.

Porteous could be sold I suppose, but then we'd be particularly short at CB.

I'd keep JDH and Newell, think so long as we play them alongside Kenneh with Youann and Boyle up top they'll do just fine.

While Tavares doesn’t look ready to play first team football for us just now I definitely think he has something about him and would like to see how he Develops over the course of the season. It may turn out that he just can’t cut it in Scotland but I have a feeling that he may be worth the wait.

Bojang I’d like to see more of as he’s only really had a couple minutes here and there since he came on against Bonnyrigg. He’s definitely very raw and that miss against livi didn’t do him any favours tbf but I think he’ll cause a few problems for defenders as he’s very quick and direct although I’d like to see him get more minutes. I can’t imagine he’ll be on much money either so I’d give him the benefit of the doubt just now.

We played a lot of good football in the first half and Hibs came out in the second to make it a battle. We're good at what we do but we don't rely on a single player to do it all for us.

Was never a cup final though, just another routine win against Hibs

I don’t think that’s how the game went at all but your entitled to your opinion buddy.

I just googled Livingston and I see that they were formed in 1995 so maybe that’s why you don’t know as much about football as me, you’ve just not had as much experience that’s all.

go out and enjoy that win today…..Livingston earned it.

  5. We really need to be smarter at grounds such as this in future because as much as we want to play the fast, free flowing football we are known the country over for, teams like Livingston are never going to allow that, Wether it be physically or by their great leveller(the pitch).  Livingston perform the “dark arts” of football so well, very streetwise, very physical (I feared the worse when melkerson went off injured)

Fair enough there’s not much, if any, actual footballing ability in their side but they more than make up for that with the blood and thunder aspects of the game. As we’ve seen It’s a god Dam effective game plan in This country whereas Hibs are more suited to a European style of play.

I also think our manager and players really underestimated Livingston today and paid the price for it. Just because we haven’t heard of any of their players, doesn’t mean we can just turn and beat them. This game was a cup final for their team and fans. There was a real carnival atmosphere in West Lothian today, the  whole town was out for This one.

    Could not agree more, DM.

Question one: does your club play in Edinburgh, Glasgow or - at a push - Aberdeen?

Yes: you may enter into European football.

No: you may hand over your place to one of Scotland's big five.

    End of vetting process.

It sounds harsh but until they prove they can be trusted i think we should stop the provincial teams from representing our country in European competition.

Don’t get me wrong if say for example Dundee United or Motherwell finish in a European placing through league placement then by all means give them the prize money and let them have their day in the sun but we’ll let Hibs, Hearts or Aberdeen take over from here lads.

Only 2 games in, but great stats, particularly as he is only 19 !

I think there’s a real player in there,  bearing in mind this is his first season playing “proper” football he’ll only get better.

I think we’ve really missed a good defensive midfielder since Marvin Bartley left.

  8. Is just me that thinks Rocky may actually turn out to be a decent signing

I think he’s been one of our best players pre season, although admittedly that’s not saying much and we’ve been playing Tin pot opposition such as Morton and Falkirk.

The real test for him will be when the league kicks off on Saturday.

The point of the show was to show the concrete lack of evidence to convict Mitchell, to go into the family's tragic loss would diminish this.

As much of a joke as that “show” was, I’m not talking about the documentary specifically when I talk of a lack of empathy on their behalf.

Word - we were saying the other night that if you put every detail of this case into a film, folk would say it was far fetched.

Saying that, though, it's still genuinely hard to come to terms with the fact that something like this could have happened here.

However it happened, the Jones family lost the liassie in the worst way imaginable - I didn't see a lot of sympathy/empathy for them in these documentaries.

That’s what gets me, there appears to be a total lack of empathy from the Mitchell family/Sandra lean.

That documentary the other night was complete nonsense and as for the recreated car scene, that might just be the most ridiculous bit of television I’ve ever watched

A lot of local folk are now totally convinced that Mitchell is innocent, despite the fact that there was nothing new in the documentary - I can only assume they weren't paying attention at the time of the trial or any of the many subsequent appeals.

Some of the stuff I’ve seen on Facebook from local people in the area has been unbelievable.

  12. It's unedifying to see people involved in catapulting Hearts to the bottom of the league trying to point-score in public and insisting on trying to drum up some public support rather than just gracefully accepting some responsibility. It's also weird behaviour when we've quite obviously just been utter, utter shite for months.
The win at Easter Road and draw with Rangers a couple of months back looked like they could have been turning points, but simply haven't been. Whelan has been poor. Far from the worst, but poor. Berra has been simply awful and should be ashamed of himself for not simply taking his medicine.
I stand by my opinion that Berra wasn't that good first time around, has never really been very good, and bringing him back was a silly thing to do. Surely nobody, including himself, can think he has been good enough to warrant being kept around?
The bottom line is that nobody in a club performing as poorly as we have been can have any complaints if they get launched.

Berra was a decent centre half for the majority of his career and that’s at English premier league/championship level. He’s finished now don’t get me wrong but he was always a player I’d rather was missing from a hibs point of view.
