  1. I get that the LL could and should attempt to assist member clubs in times of trouble but where do you draw the line? A few injuries and suspensions with a big game coming up and can anyone just call out and say they’ve got huge problems and get a postponement?

  2. f**k it's been a long time since I've been on here but thought I'd throw in my pennies worth:
    1. No chairman
    2. No players (Only 5 available for game tomorrow)
    3. No manager
    4. No money
The crooks that have run the club for the last 7 or 8 years have ruined the club. Spending money like it's going out of fashion and not looking to the future and now look what's happened. Projects like the Majorca Academy etc were an absolute farce. Players travelling up to Selkirk from all over the country whose families paid for them to stay and play were misled. It was all a scam IMO. The former chairman should be hung out to dry for this and I hope he is made to pay for all the false promises that has ultimately cost the club.
Club received a £47k windfall a month or so ago, after a man in the town passed away and left money to all the sports clubs. This went straight into their debts and it hasn't even touched the sides. Absolute joke. No money left at all to invest in the Juniors whose own setup could now be compromised.
A dark dark day for football in Selkirk, a club formed in 1880 and dragged through the gutter by reckless management.

Surely the bank(s) are in some way culpable in all of this. With respect, how can a club the size of Selkirk be servicing debt well in excess of £50k going by above post which clearly comes from a position of knowledge?
  3. Rumour alert!
Heard tonight that the second Amateur team is Musselburgh Windsor.  Was most surprised until I remembered that they applied last year and were rejected.  They were sent away with a list of reasons as to the rejection.
Windsor are an ambitious boys club trying very hard to get new clubrooms and facilities at Pinkie.  THis might be a method to achieve that
Or maybe they've made the changes?
    Or its rubbish :-)

    More likely to be Athletic
  4. Great opportunity for the EoSFL Committee in my opinion.
Leave the teams currently playing EoS football as the first division.  Create a second division with the new teams.
Two automatic promotion and relegation spots, and two legged playoffs with the 3rd & 4th top and bottom sides.  Then a one-off game to decide on the final promotion spot.  If it's the second division team that wins then the 3rd bottom team from the first is relegated.  If it's the first division team that wins then the 3rd bottom team is saved.
Let the 'big' teams work their way up the league over a few seasons.  No need to place them in the top division because they've decided they now want a piece of the action after refusing all those years ago.
As I've said before, it's only right that the EoSFL Committee show loyalty and appreciation to the teams who've been part of the league for years.  Remember what happened to Easthouses when they joined the juniors, they weren't 'seeded' and placed in a higher division; they joined from the bottom.

Highly unlikely in my opinion, but it’s what SHOULD happen. As you say, just because ‘bigger’ teams now want to join in the fun, why should they automatically be seeded above existing members. Let the new guys have some kind of play off system if needs be to determine which ones join the first division to even them up, the rest can work their way up over time. What about this scenario - say Kelty win the league this season. As things stand with HW dropping down, very good chance LTHV would gain promotion next season. Their chances of that of up against the top junior sides would be significantly diluted. They are supposedly working towards being licensed so why should their progress potentially be hindered by a smooth pathway being created for the juniors?
  5. There are still a few there but a couple have moved up to the full team I think, few too old and some have just moved on.  Think a couple have came up from last year's 19's but I could be well off. This all comes from a conversation I had at the game so apologies if incorrect.

    No worries cheers
  6. Went along to this.  This is mostly a new team for LTHV and they performed pretty well against a decent Raith team who had a few first team squad members playing.

What's happened to all last years LT players? Heard most were u18 last season and they'd done well so thought they'd stay around for another crack a year older
  7. Seen a few games this year and I fancy Preston for the treble. If they keep there discipline they are the best team in the league by far.

Could some of them not be stepping up to the senior side then or is there a bit of a gap? Genuine question as not seen any 20s games but keep hearing folk impressed by standard
