  1. One sliding tackle per match per player. Taught players to stand up and no dive in. If you were really lucky u got to play wi a Mitre ball, oooooh the good old days. Spent many Sat nights in the bath wi a nail brush or scrubbing brush trying to get the red or black stuff out my skinned legs.

Absolutely, but it’s that much harder to test his reflexes when his communication, organisation, command of his area, decision making and distribution are top class.

That's a cop out. No excuse at all for not making a 47 year old work. Not once.

To be honest, Broughty defence  was excellent and did not give NE front players anything, and their out ball to the strikers gave NE defenders a torrid time on the break. If North End had went for it they would have lost more goals. Broughty controlled the game all over the pitch from start to finish.

what’s wrong with doing that? lochee are the best junior team in tayside by a mile. have been for years. i’m sure broughty carnoustie and even downfield have payed big wages as well. lochee are a well run club who treat the players very well.

Nothing wrong with buying success, Lochee are the best team but only locally, they had a  great run in the Scottish until the met Auchinleck then did not play. I expected them to do better in the other cups but again under achieved. Carnoustie and Broughty don’t pay big money, although Downfield are rumoured to be offering good signing on fees, but have also disappointed this year.

Get used to it, its probably not going to change for foreseeable future.

Ur right there, Lochee’s policy of going round all the local teams, offer their best players more money has certainly made sure there are the biggest fish in the pond,  and nothing is going to change soon. Must have some squad of players for next year.

I have kept my own council for a number of weeks as a certain member as made comments about Carnoustie that were at best embarrassing and at worst offensive, so lets get a few things straight

    1) The budget at Carnoustie is none of your business Jock Tamson, but it is way below that of your club,  FACT,  proved by the knowledge that both players that left Carnoustie for your club in the summer received sizeable pay increases.

    2) Thanks to superbigal for putting Jock Tamson straight on a number of points but we do have more than two active committee members at Carnoustie

    3) Jock Tamson, its your opinion that our former manager hasn't done a good job, I beg to differ, an improving points tally year on year, oh and the G A Engineering Cup in the trophy cabinet,  tell me what's in yours apart from dust ?

    4) On the subject of our sadly former manager, as you pointed out in a previous post, he was in with the bricks,  Alan did far too much behind the scenes to even contemplate pushing him out, he would have been quite within his rights to complain about the size of the wage budget but he never did, he just got on with his job.

I hope that clears up any misunderstanding on your part, enjoy your season, what is the prize for finishing behind Lochee ?

How much more did Carnoustie pay Jamie Winter  to move from Broughty? Does that mean they have a bigger budget ?

Whats happening at the club ? Both manager and club captain resign and retire in the same week ? Strange.

  6. What a poor game of football from the 2 sides at the top of the league. The ball was in the air most of the time as both teams lumped it from back to front with no attempt to play through midfield. The opening goal was from a punt up the park that the defender should have dealt with easily. I agree Lochee totally  outmuscled and outfought  Broughty in the second half, as soon as they scored the game was over. Overall disappointed with the game but Lochee deserved the 3 points.

I think your right about that. It looked as though carnoustie would go on to score more after the equaliser with the pressure they had for about a 20 mins  period but looks like a missed opportunity for them.

Not much between the sides over 90 mins and thought a draw would have been about right.

    Really enjoyed the game though.

Don’t agree about not much between the sides, game should have been finished in the first half , Broughty totally outplayed and out passed The Gowfers.  Carnoustie did start the second half with  more grit and determination but run out of steam after they scored, overall I thought Broughty deserved the win, but do need to be more clinical when on top.

  8. It’s up to all the teams in this league to raise the standard and stop moaning about all the ‘ better teams that have jumped ship’.  Junior teams should always try to improve their standards and become one if ‘the better teams’and junior supporters should always support their team no matter what their league is called or who they play against.

Hope the ref is better at Tayport this week the one at Carnoustie on saturday should never ref again he was shocking the decisions he let go and pulled up for was a disgrace

Amd to blew the whistle without any added time at the end of the game and when the ball wasnt even in the park is against the rules

Would not be surprised that he blew on 90 as he was sick of all the shouting and abuse coming from the Tayport dug out and supporters, you should take a step back and listen to urselfs sometime, and ask “ is this why we don’t get 50/ 50 decisions”.

  10. Was at the game yesterday, I thought the hoose were poor, not one shot on target and did not create any chances. Broughty should have been at least one up at half time, only a super block by the keeper when the no 9 was through keep it level. I was disappointed overall , Broughty won the game without breaking sweat.

    Thanks for the response JC

    Admire and respect your honesty.

It’s very refreshing as these decisions are no doubt difficult.

Good to see decisiveness on the player front -both incoming and outgoing.

Look forward to seeing the new signings at Whitburn on Saturday.
