  1. 10 league goals from a January signing (and he was late was he not?) would be a superb return. He can definitely do it but he is going to have to pick up goals in some tough games to get there.
  2. I see Craigen has scored for the fifers tonight... Hopefully ICT scrape to a draw with them and keep their hapless gaffer in charge until we get a chance to juggernaut the shit out of them.
  3. Aye but colt teams..... Anyway, Taiwo front runner for me for POTY based on his dig and commitment. Jak or Louis could snatch it though in the run in. If either of them can turn in Dundee Utd type performances to win big matches for us then they would likely take it. The run in is all about making a mark for next season so hopefully they will look to do that.
  4. Taiwo for me. Everyone else either hasnt performed consistently enough, or wasnt involved at the time where Taiwo was the only one showing any heart amongst a squad of gutless fannies. He stood tall when we were shockingly bad, and has retained his status even when we improved. He deserves the recognition.
  5. Yeah I remember that incident. He was apologetic about it when pulled up and pretty genuine. Perhaps he isnt a racist? Anyway, we are moving on it seems. By all means get a racism thread on the go though. Its a big issue and well worth discussion.
  6. Full squad.....fucking hell. They are either well short of keepers or thats yer Old Firm love in in full flow. Nae offence to the laddie but hes not exactly proven a lot yet.
  7. Theres U21s the week after next. I see the St Mirren lads on their thread mentioning a potential postponement to our game against them as they have 3 called up so maybe we wont have to do without Hazard. Eta would take missing Hazard to get them with three first team players away tbh
  8. Even still, whats the point in shouting and swearing and intimidating folk? What are you going to do, get out and assault them? Increased risk is mitigated by mandatory training, laws of the road and insurance. You have no more right to abuse someone because you feel your property is at risk of accidental damage. Maybe if a person was blatantly breaking the law and putting you at risk personally fair enough. Too many people seem to think that someone elses driving not being up to the standards you expect is grounds to shout and bawl at them. Not saying that any of this is what you are saying btw, just general points about road rage. Shandons point most likely is that a lot of people who carry on like this wouldnt have the balls to do so up close and personal. He is of course correct on that. People who lose their temper over daft shite in the car need to have a real think about the situation they could end up putting themselves and their families in when they abuse the wrong person one day.
  9. Probably is time to leave this all alone tbh. Think we have all said our piece.
  10. In all seriousness though, have posted about this before but I cant get my head around the whole road rage thing. Really odd behaviour, but can turn quite sinister in scenarios like the above. Fucking shitebag.
  11. Fair enough. Its just discussion, thats what these boards are for. I can understand both sides of it and for me both are valid. For me to brand someone a racist, I need to believe that they have a problem with people based on their race. Thats not always the case when someone ignorantly blurts out a word. I say that because of personal experience. You are of course correct that as time goes on, it is harder and harder for anyone to get away with ignorance as an excuse. Like I said, I just dont see it as black and white as you do.
  12. You will notice that I have neither said anything racist, nor have I defended racism anywhere in here. I only thought the Shadwell incident was worthy of a wider discussion about when someone is a racist and when someone has misguidedly used a word in ignorance. Racists are scum, truly one of the worst aspects of our society. Like any label of that magnitude, I tend to be careful before branding it. I will concede its difficult to have that discussion without seeming apologetic for it. I am not though, nor am I defending Shadwell. I would need to see the conversation to defend or condemn him I think. I was simply disagreeing with Gaz in that sometimes I think people can use words in ignorance, without being a person who is prejudiced against others due to their race. I also added the caveat that continued use of such words after education would mean that they were clearly racist. Think its a pretty reasoned arguement no?
  13. Weren't you one of the ones who found Alan Lithgows horrific crimes so funny in our last match thread?
  14. Is there anyone on here who works for Maersk Oil in the North Sea? If so, give us a PM please.
  15. I think you are underestimating the potential ignorance/lack of education of large parts of society. I have never said there are many contexts that could excuse someone from being considered racist, I simply disagree with your assessment that there are none.
  16. Well if you genuinely don't know something is considered racist, how can you be using it with racial motivation? Generally in life I will allow people the chance to educate/improve themselves and mend their ways if they accept they are wrong. If you are told that a term is considered racist and continue, you are doing so knowingly and leaving no doubt about your motivation.
  17. You are correct. In some cases they are racist, in some cases they are ignorant to it, in ALL cases, failure to acknowledge those effects and cease using it makes them racist.
  18. FWIW being a poster on this forum, I find it hard to believe that Shadwell wasn't fully aware of what goes along with those words. All I was saying is that context does matter. Whether the context can excuse him in this instance, I do no know since I never seen it. I know how it went down though and I doubt it very much. But why would you say the mods didn't warn or ban him if it was so cut and dried that he is a blatant racist posting racist things? Again, FWIW, I cringe when I hear/see those terms used. All I am saying is that not everything is black and white. (pun not intended)
  19. Probably not, but I can think of examples in my lifetime where people have used the term with no intention to show dislike or disrespect (same applies to chinky) Admittedly we are probably talking a lot more common 15-20 years ago as people become aware of the offense caused. My point simply is that not every instance of this is designed to cause offence, but if someone makes that mistake, they should make a point of not making it again.
  20. I guess Mr X and the other mods considered the tone and context when they elected to simply delete the conversation and issue no warning points or banning. Everyone should know better than to use those words though. Even people who think they are acceptable should recognise that society at large does not. That said, context does matter and saying it does not automatically make someone racist. They should allow themselves to be educated into not using it though.... Use it twice and I am likely to consider you a racist.
  21. Well he wasn't banned or warned, he has removed himself. Likely he will be back at some point. OneF isn't really an option.
  22. Was it ban/warning worthy or just hounding worthy? Shame to see him go I had warmed to him this season despite his constant moaning the last two years, he had begun to settle in to this seasons routine of Bairns fans absolutely slamming other folk all over the forum....
