  1. Ok I present to you 2 businesses.
Business 1 is in the 3rd tier of Scottish football, has a half finished stadium that it doesn’t fully own, boycotting fans and no functioning youth academy to generate income.
Business 2 is the 6th best club in the country, owns a fully finished stadium with hotel attached and a successful academy.
    Which business is more valuable?
I appreciate there’s a lot of big IF’s and a massive amount to be done to get anywhere near where he’s talking about but if he’s successful his business is surely now much more valuable?
Only if there isn't a big steaming pile of debt to go along with it.

You'd never fit a stand in there ffs. We dont have piles of land but we've always had land in that area as agreed when the ownership changed hands.

The plans submitted for the 4g pitch would suggest otherwise.  We also had the old gazebo in that space with room to spare.  I reckon there is plenty room to accommodate a safe standing area or a few rows of seats with some sort of commercial area behind it.  Granted not the same size as the other three sides but plenty big enough for our purposes.

Well certainly the area where the 4th stand was to be built was always ours after the change ownership setup a few years back. Not sure whether that covers the whole of the new 4g pitch or a certain amount of it.

I suspect that will be limited to the section of land which was within the boundary fence for the last few years.  Either way, I think some fans are getting carried away with the idea that we somehow have large areas of land within our ownership which are ripe for development.

I'm not entirely convinced this is the case.  Do any shareholders on here have access to information/plans which can provide a definitive answer on the land which we do own?

The land ownership certificate associated with the planning application for the new 4G pitch shows Falkirk council as the owner of the land as of August last year.

  5. I keep hearing fans referring to the 'land around the stadium' that we supposedly own.  Does anyone actually know if we do own any such land?  I was always of the understanding that much of the land is owned by Falkirk Council, including the land where the new pitch is going with us leasing it from them.

  6. Anyone who cant see the positive contribution we have had from Petra needs their head checked. The arguement that he is not good enough might stack up eventually but he has contributed well to the points total we have so far.

We are still a long way from being able to turn our nose up at someone like him.
Whilst I agree with this generally, he was pretty crap yesterday defensively. The amount of times he shanked it straight out of the park in a panic was comical and whilst he doesn't shy away from anything, his positioning and anticipation whilst defending can be tough to watch at times. I think it was masked yesterday because of the formation we played with Paton and Osman filling in for him and DKD but if we don't have that defensive midfield cover he leaves us too exposed IMO. Great outball to have when we are pinned back deep though.
  7. I'd also like to think that hippo's previous dillusions of granduer will have diminished somewhat since his unsuccessful stint with st mirren. That definitely detracted from some of his performances with us last time around. Perhaps he could settle and focus a bit more this time as opposed to constantly looking elsewhere as he seemed to be previously.

  8. Don't get the mass negativity towards hippo to be honest. My memories of him are generally positive. At the very least he can be very entertaining. Yes he is a bit hit and miss but when he is on it he really is a handful for defenders, especially at championship level. In the squad we have now assembled he'd give us a good degree of flexibility in attacking positions. It is beginning to sound like we may be struggling to get our first choice striker target through the door and in the absence of any readily available quality alternatives I'd be quite happy having him as another option.

  9. McLean had one decent cross on Saturday. Otherwise he hardly ever tracks back and gives the ball away a hell of a lot.  At one point he ran straight out the pitch with the ball.  I see him more of a bench warmer coming on than a starter.
Can't agree with this I'm afraid. At firhill, McLean was regularly tracking back at pace to help Robson out. Granted this tailed off a bit in second half but that could just be a fitness issue. I do think he could have quite a hot head though, he seemed to be getting involved in nonsense all over the park. Also, from what I hear DKD is unlikely to offer much defensively so I guess the lineup will depend on formation choice and who we are playing.

  10. Dixon is going to play LCH sure of it with McKenna beside him, that gives us balance. Robson or Brough will play LB. He has 3 RB options and I don’t think he could make a decent one out of the 3 but of them it will be McGhee.

This is the way I see it going as well. Kind of makes Muirhead surplus to requirements in my mind.
  11. Every game between now & May is massive. Club should look to do all they can, especially for the games where the North stand would be closed, to get as many punters in as possible and try turnaround our home form.

Attacking football will help from all the new players as that’s what gets the fans going, look at the final 15mins yesterday.
I agree that they should be as active as possible in attracting more fans but I for one will be pissed off if they start offering reduced entrance prices again. That just penalises season ticket holders who have already parted with their cash when instead they should be doing all they can to keep those of us that have stuck by them through this mince.

  12. I was actually thinking it's the other way round.
If he was gone for good we would have announced it. Instead we're holding off, presumably in the expectation of being able to make a single "good news" statement.
At least that's my take on it.

I hope you are right. After the season we have had I find it is a struggle to stay optimistic though. Another win on Saturday would help sort that. If that happens I'll no doubt be wildly unrealistic in my optimism.
  13. Can't help but think Rudden would have been announced already if he or Rangers were so keen on him staying with us. The delay only suggests that other options are being considered for him or that we have someone else lined up. For what it's worth, I hope he comes back and we can still add some more experience in there as well.

  14. We'll have to agree to disagree on that one. I think hiding is the worst of his crimes, coming in just in front of picking up utterly avoidable bookings, shanking the ball out of play and followed closley by having loads of time to pick a pass and floating it aimlessly to the goalkeeper.

Haha, I can't disagree with any of the rest to be honest. The floated ball to the opposition keeper is one of my pet hates too. While we are on the subject of effort and graft in the midfield, I have been pleased to see Irving improve considerably in this area in recent weeks. I was initially of the opinion that he didn't justify his place due to a lack of defensive ability but he seems to be getting the balance right now and I can only assume Raymundo is behind it.
  15. Almost tongue in cheek BUT Buaben takes the ball under pressure well. You can see the nick McKee gets into when he doesnt have an easy ball. If he cant drive forward with it he panics and gives it away.

That gets made to look worse if Paton is there, hiding rather than showing for it as Buaben will.

If Aero was there and we had Prince in for Paton I would be looking forward to today. As it is, the problem area might just have shifted.

Anyway, Harrison will be the more competent in a back 3 for me so I hope its him who replaces Aero today. Put him in the middle of the three so that its McGhee who has to go out and help Kidd if he gets 2 on 1, Forrest would lace Harrison. And I hope this wind settles down a wee bit. We dont need another variable at play here.
I don't recall seeing Paton hiding to be honest. He is one of the least likely to do so in my opinion. He is crap when he gets the ball and often his effort is made in the wrong areas but his desire to muck-in and overall effort can't be questioned imo.
  16. Despite all of Paton's shortcomings, I'm more worried about us playing today without him than I would be if McKee was suspended. IMO McKee goes missing far to often and his perceived 'quality' isn't being shown nearly often enough to justify him in our team when we need grafters first and foremost. The sooner we get Bauben fully fit the better.

  17. I'd be inclined to give Robson a shot in that position ahead of Lewis. Robson knows how to get past a man
Fair point, to be honest I'd be happy enough with that provided Rudden plays centrally. His performance at Ayr was far superior to any other forward we have utilised all season in terms of movent and workrate.
  18. Why on earth would Lewis starting have made any difference? He started nearly every game under Hartley and we were absolutely woeful.
In terms of general shape it was much better with him using his pace down the left as opposed to Haber looking like he didn't really want to be playing today when through the middle. I'm not for a minute suggesting Lewis should have that role after January but for now he will do us a turn.
  19. I'm not sure why there is as much hysteria about today as there seems to be. For me there have been definite improvements in last two games in terms of general shape and defensive concentration/dicipline. Yes, mistakes are still being made and we lack quality in key areas but there are definite green shoots in terms of chances being created. Utd scored with their only two real chances today and neither were the fault of our centre half's who were generally comfortable throughout. Had we started with Rudden playing centrally and Lewis on from the start instead of Haber, I suspect it would have been a different result. Hopefully McKinnon seen that. Fasan is a bit of a liability though. I'm quite confident we will beat Alloa given the last two games to be honest.

  20. As much as I'd like to see a couple of new faces coming with McKinnon I'll be wiping the slate clean for Hartley's signings for a few weeks now at least. I wouldn't be surprised if a fair few of his signings start showing some promise and fight now that Hartley has gone. He sounded like a right knob and I can imagine a his attitude affected more than a few of the players both in terms of confidence levels and desire. Playing them in the correct position and shape would be a start.
