  1. Given the injury surprised Tiger is risking carrying on today just mentioned his ankle is causing bad discomfort again.
It has to be better to withdraw due to injury than risk making things worse.
Especially as there's no chance of making the cut.
    It's sad to see
  2. 84 for a nett 67 in round 2 of our Memorial Trophy today in breezy conditions, well pleased with that.

Only the 12 shots better than my first round effort. [emoji85]
I had a net 67 last week 2nd in my division, followed up this week with a net 77 what a game eh, 67 in these conditions is good shooting mate well done
  3. I've been to Airth range a few times myself, the Toptracer is decent but once you get past about 150 yards it seems to just guess how far every club goes [emoji23] I'd recommend the Fairways Indoor golf in Falkirk, they've got 4 indoor bays and the trackmans which are pretty accurate I find. Plus £20 for an hour is pretty good.
There's one on Coatbridge too, the guys run our small shop
  4. First round of 2022 today. It was like playing on concrete.

[emoji1787] aye great for roll with the long irons and woods but different story landing greens, I got my first round of 2022 in today aswel went up to little hill as my course has some work being carried out, was brilliant to be back swinging again can't wait for the next break in the weather

  5. New golfer here. How do you get over the fear of hitting in front of other people and also the anxiety of should I let them through, they’re letting me through etc?

I'm still a bit nervous Infront of members especially in medals were there could be upto 40+ people watching and not one could give a s**t unless you hit a beauty and you hear the praise., that anxiety will ease as you get use to it, a we tip would to just go easy don't smash it just a nice slow swing to get you started and away from the tee.
If there is a group behind waiting at every shot it's nice to let them through same if your the one behind being held up, it's a bit of common sense to be honest and you'll start to pick these things up,
Go out with some members or seasoned golfers and ask questions only way to learn imo
  6. An update on my daughters first round. She had an absolute ball! She isn’t “naturally gifted” and took a good few “practice” swings before making contact but she had fun and that’s all that matters. Golf can be incredibly frustrating at times but on the 7th she cleared the water and celebrated like she had just got a hole in one. Absolutely magnificent to see. Her joy must have rubbed off on me as well as I shot 2+ for the 9 holes. Driving range tonight I think
    Brilliant mate
  7. Our green convener put out a table last year with the distance from the centre of the winter green to the centre of the full green. Wasn't perfect, but at least gave you some idea of the yardage, especially for the likes of me that uses a GPS watch and not a laser rangefinder.
That's a good idea think I'll bring it up to the greenkeeper, I asked shotscope to map my home course with winter greens on but no joy, I use the lazer but hate going in and out of my bag all the time
  8. I think he meant tickets for the Open at St Andrews.
Talking about mat’s tho, I fucking hate them. I just can’t play off them. And if there are playing on winter greens I just cancel my tee time. I’d rather go to the range and smash 100 balls
Lol, aye I hate mats too and winter/temp greens are the worse I can get use to the mats after a while but never with the crap greens,
  9. Me and my mate been successful in the Open ballot (we can only attend the first day due to our shift pattern in work). 95 quid a ticket and it needs paid by the 3rd of December. Good timing ya tory b*****ds, some of us actually have to save a bit at this time of year.
Do you have to use mats I want for the ballot twice last month but was unsuccessful [emoji35] was going to try again but I read there are mats on this time of year which put me off
  10. Playing the Old Course on Saturday for the first time (success in the ballot)
Pretty excited about it and forecast looks ok - 11c with 13mph.
Appreciate that it is not the best course I will have played but really looking forward to the iconic holes and seeing if I can do a Tiger and stay out of all the bunkers (tough task and quite frankly with my record of sandy's oer the past few years maybe best going in them)
Our group play off 4, 8, 9 (me) and 14...what tees should we play off?  Want to enter this as a General Play so that it is my last counting round of the year.

Iv missed out twice in the ballot might give it one last chance not wanting to play on mats tho
  11. Very much this. We can complain about captains or qualifying all we want but the main issue we have is that the American team is far too strong for our out of form/older ragtag bunch of jobbers. In the past they have been stronger on paper for sure but this year’s gulf in class is the biggest in my lifetime.
I’m actually pretty confident a good few of the Europeans will step up to the plate, they must have been watching all weekend and thinking this is my chance to stake a place in this team. We have a good few veterans they should be looking to displace. Guys like Boab, who is not only a great golfer, but a big character is exactly the type of guy we need getting the finger out.
The us team have some emerging talent to, they also have a huge advantage as youth players and further up to NCAA, the European countries are all different in there approach to yougesters development some better than others,
Is the Ryder cup on next year too
  12. Just reading some comments on Twitter. Obviously great to see Bob, Calum and Grant Forrest doing well. The common denominator is that all 3 played college golf in the US. Have we lost the ability to produce home grown talent without them getting that competitive experience that the US college system provides?
I think it's down to funding, the us players have a big advantage before they go pro were most otter countries have smaller pools of money spread more thinly
  13. Played Torrance park today went round in 80/62 tore the place apart, greens were a bit slower than IV been playing recently but in great nick, than as im walking down the 8th I get a call to say my mizzys are in waiting for me, good end to the day [emoji2506]

  14. A course I've a lot of time for. That par 5 along the top beside the road (13th??) is a lovely hole.
IV looked over that wall loads of times in jealousy, I'll need to get a round there anyone a member who can sign me on,
