  1. That’s me busted!! To be fair, I hide it really well with nobody at the club getting paid and myself driving a 1 litre polo! Master criminal [emoji23][emoji23]

To be honest I think it’s just a windup from Izquierda, I wouldn’t get too worked up about it.

    Merry Christmas folks [emoji1335][emoji16]

  2. The EoS seems to approach these things by allowing clubs a years grace to comply. So for example if the club have plans to get portable changing rooms into the ground but it wont happen until the end of the year, they may get dispensation.  Perhaps the WoS will adopt that approach.

Hi guys, just going to let you know where we are with regards to changing rooms.

The current changing rooms as you say are in the school but we’ve been working since December to have changing rooms and public toilets adjacent to the pitch. This would probably have been done by now in normal times but unfortunately like so much else in the world Covid has held things up a bit. We are still confident we will have these in place for the start of pre season.
Even if there was potential flexibility with the rule on this one it’s not ideal for us and our opponents to have to go back to the school at half time so we’re working hard to make sure this isn’t the case.

    Cheers,

    Sean
  3. Hmm...Erm,...early days, lads...we're only thinking about Jack's Park at the moment...good playing surface, very tiring on the old limbs,...fucking miles fae dressing rooms. Cannot possibly meet criteria unless rules are relaxed from WRJFA version. Perhaps Colin can confirm ? If rules are going to be relaxed then I fear for the likes of Saltcoats Victoria & Ardeer Thistle if other clubs (good amateur clubs) can just get the council to give them a park at a better standard to allow them to progress instead.
Dunno what to think about this one really...Can Sean give more detail ?
Is it their intention to abstract support from Victoria ?

Hi mate, just going to try and answer some of the questions raised.

Obviously I’m not 100 percent on the clubs mentioned situations with their grounds but I think our arrangement will be a similar one to theirs. Apologies if I’m wrong here but both those grounds are owned by the council and they are on long term lease arrangements, we’ll be similar.

Just the final one about the support. This will be our 25th season as a club. We have a group of faithful supporters who follow us home and away already. We won’t be looking to steal any supporters from any other clubs. Again, I’m not sure about other local teams supports but we don’t want to be stealing or harming anything to do with the other clubs. We have very good relationships with all the local teams and a massive amount of respect for them all.

All the points raised above are legitimate and fair questions, I hope I have answered them as well as possible.

    Cheers,

    Sean

  4. Does that mean that there will be 2 teams in Saltcoats? It’ll take a lot of work to get their park up to the desired standard.

We’re currently amateur football Nomads as we’re originally a West Kilbride team who are registered in Saltcoats and play out of Kilwinning in the winter to make sure our games are always on.

Yip, looking forward to getting stuck in.
  5. With the possibility of amateurs making the step up to the WOSFL, what are the minimum requirements for grounds ? as I'm guessing that the ammies use council pitches mainly, which probably can't be improved a great deal , does that mean the majority are ground sharing ?

I can’t speak for any other team obviously but can say we’re speaking to the council about a similar agreement to what the other WOSFL teams have with regards to a long term lease and then doing the work that needs done. To their credit they have been a great help so far.
  6. That’s the one. It looks like the academy pitches. I’d have thought they were council property or the likes.

This is correct. We will be applying to join the WOSFL for the coming season. We have been talking to the league since around October last year and had a very good meeting with Kilwinning Rangers chairman Colin Boyd who got in touch on behalf of the league. Colin was a massive help and everything was positive from that.

We are now working to make sure our new ground at St Matthews Academy in Saltcoats will be ready for the new season.

As well as the first team looking to join the WOSFL we will have our under 20s looking to join the Development league and potentially keeping an amateur team and a new under 19s team as well.

    Exciting times for the club.
