  1. Someone on this forum fairly recently. Think it might have been an Edinburgh fan in their thread and it would probably go some way to explaining his mysterious exit from the club. It's hardly a character assassination, and if you'd actually read what I said in its entirety then you'd have seen a pretty balanced account of what I know about Karim.

Watched him play for Edinburgh City as a trialist 17/18 pre-season and again for City when he signed.

He’s got good technical ability but zero link-up play. Receives the ball and tries to do everything on his own.

Can’t comment on his character (as some are) but if Lennon can coach him to become a team player then you’ve good a good addition to your squad. If not, he’ll be on his way in January probably.

Injury news and squad  latest all up on the excellent match preview on the website.

Think the club get most things right but not in the case of entry price for tomorrow night. Putting it on a par with a league game is over selling it in my opinion.

A number of clubs putting down their entry prices for these games...and not just for matches involving Colts teams.

Will wait until Saturday before heading back to Ainslie Park.

  3. I'd certainly say we're still short of 3 decent defenders.  As you say there is nothing there from last seasons team, so we need AT LEAST 2 good quality central defenders or we'll be leaking goals for fun.

Will miss big Beattie,  and also Pat organising the back line.  I'd have kept both actually...

Just remembered Gareth Roger...I think he signed a 2 year deal at the beginning of last season.

Thought he improved the latter part of the season.

Still think we need another couple of central defenders at least, however.

  4. Another proven goalscorer at this level. Squad starting to take shape nicely now.

Very pleased with the signings too. Looks like we are doing some decent business and much earlier on this time around.

Obviously there will be more signings on the way which must surely include some central defenders, or am I missing something? I don’t see any from those left over from last season and amongst the new signings.
  5. Very interested to read McDonaugh’s comments in the Evening News as he looks to next season:

“I’ve been honest with the players and said we can talk about games, but a couple of months ago in February I wondered if this group could maybe take us to the play-offs next season.”

“All they’ve kind of done since then is made me think I need to change things. It’s two fold – you need to congratulate the players for keeping the club in the league and that’s an achievement in itself.”

“However, if you want to do better and not just fight for ninth place next season, then I think we need to start again.”

Must say I couldn’t agree more. January and February were the best two months of the season by far but the rest of the year has shown we just don’t have the quality to be anything but fighting to avoid the play-off spot.

The team really needs major changes if next season is to be any better.

Of the non-loanee players, who would be good enough to keep their place in a squad looking for a higher league finish?...Laird, Walker...

Would be interested to hear what other City fans think.

  6. Official supporters club being touted for next season. Just wanna hear what other city fans think about it. It needs to be done, obviously club politics etc gets left to the board but a well run supporters club is what the club needs. A certain "DJ" and myself will hopefully be having a meeting(informal) with the chairman at the end of the season to discuss what will happen. If there's not enough interest then there's no point.

A supporters club which would strengthen links between fans and the club, give a platform to raise supporter/fan-related issues with the Board, organise transport to away games and the like...would be of interest.

Don't think I've ever seen any player contribute less to a game of football than Grimes today. When did we become a side that just punts it long at every opportunity? Remarkable to have a years worth of experience in the league and become significantly worse.

Couldn't agree more.  Things looked promising with Grimes in the Berwick and Motherwell games in the League Cup but in the 4 League games he has offered nothing.  Absolutely nothing. He doesn't chase or close down and any time he does try a tackle he fouls the opposition player.

City have gone backwards since last season.  BBC stats show that in the 4 league games we've had 26 shots at goal of which only 10 were on target.  Only 2.5 shots on goal per game on average.  No wonder we are bottom of the table.  1 goal scored in 4 games.

We've got no clue going forward and now just pump the ball up the pitch hoping that a very young loanee can grab us something.

Drop Grimes and get Beattie out of defence (the defence is another disaster story) and get him up front.  He may not be fast but at least he'll fight for the ball.

  8. I know two of the Angus clubs were sniffing around last season and when I asked him in the stand at the Stirling game if he was gonna stay on next season he just smiled and shrugged his shoulders. I thought he was staying though.
Not gonna begrudge him wanting to play in the division above. He's certainly a handful and useful at this level. Good luck to him

It might be a bit simplistic but I'm guessing that the recent photos of the training session that were posted on the Club's Twitter and Facebook accounts would show us the players that are still at the club?

See wasn't in any of those photos. Surely he can't still be injured?
  9. News so far since the end of the season...

We have 6 players confirmed for next season...a goalkeeper (Antell), defender (McKee), three midfielders (Walker, Dunn and Laird) and a forward (Beattie).

We've lost Joe Mbu to retirement.

    New Chairman.

We know who we've got in the League Cup group.

We also have a new team sponsor (announced today).

    Have I missed something out?

Looking forward to a lot more news in the coming days.

  10. There's a thread in the Domestic Cup sub-forum where us anoraks have been analysing it. Unless they take pity on you and bump Stirling, you'll be unseeded in South-West... Hearts & Hibs seeded in North-East.

Great. Thanks for the info. Hadn't picked up it was split by region. Maybe we will get the chance to play at Hampden after all!
