    Think that was Sylla.

TBH I didn't think Billy was quick enough to release the ball today when we were chasing the game and his passing was pretty poor today.

It was Billy. Thought he was fine and certainly wouldn't pick him out today but we all see things different.

Ingram probably started after a good display against St Mirren but he's lost the header for goal one and gave away a stupid penalty. The whole match he was losing it and Docherty was clearly not happy with him even before the pen.

Apart from them moments it was largely two dreadful performances today from both sides and they were no better than us. We'll finish above County but they can have their day.

    Thank you.

Got to admire your optimism. I don’t think big Billy is near ready to start (looks exactly like young Graham to me), and the 2 full backs have got to step up and show if we were right to sign them. Certainly we were miles better when Braybrooke and the Burnley lad came on. You summed Josh up pretty well earlier in the week and he was exactly that today.  If Clark Robertson is any good him and McGhee would be my preferred pairing at the centre, but we’ll probs need to play McGhee at RB. I think Portales could be an option at RB as his tackling is his biggest attribute plus he’s half decent on the ball - and his mistakes might not be so costly. The defence is an utter shambles.

I thought Billy was fine today and showed his talent on the ball at times such as the through ball into Murray for the offside goal. Graham in the Derby was scarily out of place and I certainly didn't get that feeling today. The back two won alot of the ball and were fine on the whole IMO. They're not the reason we lost today.

Docherty will probably now revert to a five which despite me being against it all last season might've suited us better today. In the first half especially Tiffoney and SPH gave us nothing out wide.

It was a pretty awful game today but the facts are there was nothing between the sides and if anything we looked more capable on the ball. The two goals are completely rotten though and we can't keep coming back from losing positions. Ingram cost us the points today.

The first goal didn't look like a corner either, hopefully someone can confirm when the match is online.

    Thank you.

Totally underwhelming start to the league season. Humping a load of dross in the preseason fitness cup has glossed over it a bit IMO, but 6 points from the opening 5 fixtures, with a metric f**kton conceded and Aberdeen, Rangers, and Celtic no even played yet is nowhere near good enough. That's relegation candidate numbers.

We won't be getting relegated this season.

Absolutely nothing in the game today and Portales and Koumetio were fine. An absolutely horrific individual display by Ethan Ingram lost us that one. He was beyond bad even outwith the goal incidents.

Long season ahead with Robertson now returning who was one of our main defensive signings.

Austrian looks far more comfortable out wide than Palmer-Houlden and can be a good player going off the second half today.

We've still got plenty of talent around our squad. Today was poor but that County side were certainly not a better team. Plenty games to come and a settled eleven is still to be seen.

    Thank you.

Scott Fraser deal still on according to someone on TDBF

    Do we want him?

    100%.

Watched the Scotland U21 game yesterday and Lyall Cameron was outstanding and clearly the best player on the pitch alongside Lennon Miller.

Mulligan had a few of his wonder runs but let himself down with simple passes and sometimes doing a bit too much. Needs to engage his head a bit more IMO as he's brimmed with ability. Have high hopes this will be the season we see a real kick on from him though.

    Thank you.

We hammered Livi and Ross County last season, and IIRC we took 5 or 7 points from St. Johnstone anaw. Obviously no Livi this season, but we've already dropped 2 points to their replacement. My concern about not winning games against St.Mirren and Hibs when we had the better of it is that we pretty much now have to beat St.Johnstone and Co to stay on track before we run into Aberdeen/Celtic/Rangers, and if we're still shipping stupid goals left and right then beating anyone becomes far more difficult.

Still the early part of the season etc etc, but I think we should be sitting on at least 8 points and arguably 10.

Perth are taking Livi's spot this season as whipping boys and potentially County.

Don't think we had the better against Hibs after the first 30 minutes. They came on top and a goal was always coming. We ended up snatching a point and they still had time to smack the bar a minute later.

Paisley was more of an opportunity wasted but after losing our best player 24hrs before and losing two goals from defensive mistakes we still managed a point whilst looking the better side.

In the Derby we didn't deserve to win but also managed to go undefeated despite Larkeche looking unfit (has improved since), Graham having a disaster and playing the back 5 that we've since dropped. Mains late howler doesn't make it an opportunity wasted - we should've been 3 1 down in that case after dreadful finishing from Trapanovski at a one on one.

We're just about where we deserve to be at the minute and there's plenty room for defensive improvement. Not losing ground to anyone like St Mirren will be more than useful come March/April.

    Thank you.

I get the sentiment, and agree with it somewhat, but unfortunately the points available early in the season count for exactly the same as those earned at any other part of the season, and right now 6 points from 4 games feels like a bit of an underachievement, especially against the backdrop of hearing everyone talk about what a decent side we have. Had we put away Hibs or St Mirren I'd be a bit more comfortable. We need to stop shipping stupid, preventable goals. That's what it boils down to for me. Do that, and we should be top 6 comfortably and in the mix for 4th/5th. Fail to sort it and I can see it being another season of "if only..." like last year and hovering around mid-table again.

One saving grace is that most teams suffer a spate of injuries at some point in the season, so there is a possibility that we're a bit unlucky right now having lost one of our signings before the season really got underway, and once that clears up we can hope for a clearer run later in the year. I think we have a fairly solid squad and would hope that Doc makes use of the depth rather than playing the same team week-in, week-out, because that's another thing that tends to lead to individual players and entire sides wearing down as the season goes on. I think we suffered from that a bit last year as the puff really seemed to run out as soon as we secured 6th. That can't happen again this season if we hold any ambitions of 5th+ at all. Perhaps if we're fitter and less tired this time around, it'll be other sides who fall victim to it. One of the reasons I'm never all that fond of the idea of getting pumped in the 1st quali round of some diddy UEFA tournament before July is out. Sure, a wee trip would be fun, but it's another extension of the season, intense football very early on, and I think it sometimes catches up with teams later in the year that aren't really built and assembled to cope with it. Achieving any sort of consistency and year-on-year progression is difficult enough for clubs in Scotland, and I think Euro trips and the League Cup are sometimes more of a hindrance than they are worth, League Cup especially. Playing LC ties on late summer weekends when we end up with a League fixture backlog every single Spring is f**king lunacy IMHO.

Six points and undefeated against our so called top six rivals isn't an underachievement for me.

Our results against the better teams last season were catastrophic and relegation material. There's small signs of progress with a whole season ahead. Look at last year's tally against three of the sides we have played so far:

    Paisley 3/12

    Hearts 3/12

    Hibs 1/9

We've already nearly matched that in the opening four games. If we go to Dingwall and win it's been an outstanding opening to the season.

The Derby was a clusterf**k with the likes of Graham thrown in alongside the new signings. We can't grumble with a point there in a match Main should've bagged the points in the end.

    Thank you.

Not enjoying Utd sitting above us. Still feel it’s temporary but points mean prizes.

we need to be beating teams we’re better than more regularly

Im hoping a more solid defence lines up after the break.

Much as I love having a Mexican in our starting line up I’m wondering if, as others have said , the back 4 would work better without him?

Not the way football works. The league will be completed in May when all teams will have played the same opposition the same number of times (bar the split).

A quick peek at the fixtures that have opened the season show a strong start for the Derry. County, Aberdeen, Killie and Motherwell next with our easy three points at home to Perth at the end of next month.

This was folks failings when there was talk of a Queens Park title win;  all along their last few fixtures was when they'd falter. Let time take it's course.

    Thank you.

That surely depends on what exactly he scores.

If he scores the skin of a sea bass, and does an absolutely top notch job of it, he would be mad not to celebrate. Likewise if he scores a particularly good piece of classical music. If he scores a supply of illegal drugs, celebrating might draw unwanted attention and would therefore be advised against. Were he to score a football goal for Dundee FC, I suspect he might celebrate as this would be seen as a good thing by all representing Dundee FC, though the celebration may be tempered slightly out of a desire not to overly upset the Ross County FC fans, as he very recently played for them and may retain a soft spot for them and their fans. Were he to score a goal in the wrong net (an "own goal", in Ross County's favour), he would most likely not celebrate as that would be seen as a generally negative thing by all representing Dundee FC, although depending on the strength of his soft spot for his former employees I would like to think he might let out a small, internal 'yippee' in such a scenario.

If it wasn't clear the next game is against Highland opposition this post just highlights that in pus-punching fashion.

Bunch of f**kin' fox hunting, dungaree clad, shinty enthusiast bassa's.

Hopefully relegation looms as we finally get our very own Highland clearances back to League 1/2 and beyond, joining Sandy Cromorty and them ICT morons.

    Thank you.

Their destroying the currants, quite an enjoyable watch.

Nothing to fear in the quarters IMO, especially if it's at Hampden.

The likes of Robertson back fully fit and a fortnight now for any new signings to gel.

Hopefully a Jambos win this afternoon to conclude a positive opening to the season going into the international break.

    Thank you.

  10. The last five minutes were wild as f**k.

Literally had Main, Murray and SPH upfront as a three and left holes everywhere. Only time in the 2nd half Paisley looked dangerous.

Fair enough going for the win but that would lose us the game on most occasions. Unlike Docherty I thought.

    Thank you.

Got to give the lads minutes but Kiumetio has a bit of a bombscare about him. McGhee defo plays somewhere imo.

I've got no doubts McGhee will start but with a few games in them I think that's our strongest back four.

McGhee has been immense over the last year but there is limitations to his game and at times his passing from the back is a worry.

Koumetio has been brought in to be a starter and will get the time on the pitch to adjust IMO. It'll be Ingram dropped over Koumetio if anything.

    Thank you.

Young Sammy has trained with the squad all week. Wouldn't be surprised to see him starting if registered in time but think Josh will get the nod

Has to be Braybrooke or Mulligan. Finn doesn't get anywhere near going in ahead of them.

For me the starting line up is a 4 2 3 1 - harsh on McGhee but i believe the others have potential to be better players:

    McCracken

    Ingram Portales Koumetio Larkeche

    Syilla Braybrooke

    P-H Cameron Tiffoney

    Murray

    Thank you.

I think Fraser is one who needs to be your key player. Make him feel important and put all your play through him and you're likely getting his best.

Fraser will be entering a squad brimmed with talent.

He'll need to work hard and earn his way into the team, as if he didn't The Doc would punt him in January who has previous for being ruthless. To be our key player he would have to reach an excellent level.

It's not the likes of the Dainty Sainties he's going to. The reality is The Doc is certainly more suited to harbouring his talents than the thoughts of a boring wee fanny from Perth.

Surprised you've not whipped out a pie chart yet in typical roaster fashion.

    Thank you.

  14. Adios McCowan; a well deserved move to the Champions elect after shining for the Dees last season.

Initially McCowan was inconsistent out wide but his quality was always there to see. The move inside was exactly what was needed when a competent, experienced manager seen his pace was maybe not there but vision and technical ability a step above. Placed in a better team with more of the ball he has every chance to do well at Celtic.

Go and live out your dreams at your boyhood club. No bad feeling from me or disappointment really. It's great business from Dundee and hopefully a glimpse into the years to come after being too often a circus over the past few decades.

Braybrooke straight into the starting line up tomorrow helping Sylla whilst our four attacking players cause havoc please. We'll no doubt see another CM arrive and hopefully Mulligan can push on.

Thank you McCowan for the many things you done as Cassandra once sang in an 80s reggae classic.

  15. Yawn.

Three games in and Paisley are already throwing in the towel after losing to in form Aberdeen and the best team in the league. Narrowly punted out the cup at Tannadice a few days after a good showing in Europe.

Suddenly they can't pick anything up from Dens. Even if they'd started the season well in their opinion how many points should St Mirren be on after playing Hibs ,AberdeenA and Celtic.

This will be a pretty even game and any result is possible. Much like the Hibs fans last week the negativity is a minter.

    Thank you.

  16. I'm not too hung up on McCowan tbh.

Great player but we also have so much other talent. If this signing from Leicester comes off it would be a real coup and we'd still be lining up somewhere along the lines of:

    McCracken

    Ingram Portales Koumetio Larkeche

    Sylla Braybrooke

    P-H Cameron Tiffoney

    Murray

The two holding might even solidify our leaky defence and allow a front four as such to flourish. You'd still have the likes of Mulligan, Clark Robertson, McGhee, Carson and any new signings to fit in.

If we recieve the right fee we'll move on with a cracking squad and i'll still be confident of a great season under Doc and the boys.

    Thank you.
