    Last season was last season.

Mulligan in for Cameron to give better balance in midfield. Would be harsh on Tiffoney not finding a way into the starting 11 but I think Docherty might look to bring him on around the 60th minute mark again.

We beat them at dens last season and found ourselves in winning positions in 2 other games, albeit managing to shoot ourselves in the foot both times.

Hearts are a good side and we need to be at our best to win, but we can do it. We won’t play as bad as we did for 60 minutes against United…I don’t think anyway.

The game at Tynecastle we were getting pummeled and hit them twice on the break to lead. The goals eventually came for Hearts as the game continued in the same vein. There was no shooting in the foot. The game at Dens we led was one of the better performances of the season - we were harshly done with the scandalous penalty. Hearts have improved alot since then though. I'd be looking at something like:

    McCracken

    Ingram Portales Astley Larkeche

    Tiffoney McGhee Sylla McCowan Muligan

    Murray

That's with me complaining about McGhee in centre midfield for years, we simply don't have anyone else though. He'd give more dig than Robertson IMO. Hearts right back looks a player and Mulligan would maybe beable to stifle him.

    Thank you.

We're more than capable of winning this but I'm thinking another exciting 2-2. Murray and McCowan our scorers.

I really don't think we are.

Our return against the top six sides of which I'm including Hibs was relegation material last season. At the minute our defence is worse (due to injuries) and the midfield is the same. We've improved upfront.

Unless we play Mulligan in the middle and four at the back there's only one winner here IMO. The midfield of Cameron, McCowan and Sylla doesn't cut it in these games as proven time and time again.

    Thank you.

Could have easily been 3,4 or 5 -1 down with the clear sights at goal they had before we got going in the last 13 minutes, I come away thinking what does this season hold if we don't sort that shambles out at the back ASAP.

The only clear one they have to score is the one on one which came through amateur defending from our own set piece. Cameron was really poor but saved us there.

The two goals are amateur defending aswell but the first one comes as the players are also way out of position not expecting Graham to pass it to the opposition as we were building an attack. Graham really struggled and won't start again at the weekend. It was a big call and backfired, didn't win a header all day either. He looked the part against ICT but wasn't ready yet - its been seen on matchday 1 and we can move on.

McGhee isn't in our squad to be a centre back but is having to play there due to current limitations. There's 3 weeks left of the window and my thoughts are that we'll be stronger come September even if we lose McCowan. I'm still expecting four new faces along with the returning Robertson.

Thought we got going the whole of the second half tbh aswell. We were still to slow in moving it around at times but looked alot more dangerous and we had the DABs chasing the ball which probably helped in them being f**ked the last twenty minutes. Anything Utd created in the second half was through our own doing.

I'm positive a back four on Saturday with the likes of Mulligan starting would instantly make us look a stronger unit. Get Astley and Portales playing as out and out centre backs and see how we get on.

    Thank you.

  4. That's the St Johnstone fuds been given their first turning over of the season anyway. We'll have to do well to finish below them.

I walked out the ground yesterday gutted we didn't win after Mains miss but on reflection and watching back the highlights there we could've easily been 3 - 1 down. Some of our defending is beyond painful - Hearts, Hibs and St Mirren next.

In a match where we had two centre backs playing who would he nowhere near first choice we managed to get a point. We're only going to get stronger but hard work is needed to make us more solid. On the evidence of last seasons results against top six standard teams we'll be lucky to walk out the next three games with any more than one win.

    Thank you.

  5. Very much a struggle yesterday with the formation being the root problem. We're already shoehorning McGhee in at centre back and to have young Graham struggling was just too much. We have to move to a back four on Saturday whilst we await the return of Robertson.

The amount of times McGhee had the ball and just dilly dallied around with nobody in the midfield demanding it was a joke.

It's a very good point in the end and felt like we were going to get a chance to win it. Main has to score.

As for McCowan, anything north of a million and he has to go. The club should be looking for his replacement right now as whether he stays this month or not, he'll be gone come next summer.

    Thank you.

  6. I thought Hearts were excellent in spells today. Rangers look really average and there's no reason Hearts can't match their results - that should be the aim at this point in the season IMO.

As for Boateng he's still a work in progress but a classy midfielder with plenty potential. 3 year deal should see a decent fee received. I don't see Barron who played for Rangers a great deal ahead of him as a project.

Taylor at right back, what a talent. Not looking forward to Hearts visiting Dens next week that's for sure.

    Thank You.

  7. Final thoughts on tomorrow's game/ line up from me.

    McCracken

    Ingram Portales McGhee Graham Larkeche

    McCowan Sylla Mulligan

    Murray P-H

Fire right into these arseholes from the start. Babunski in the middle looks decent on the ball  for them so get Mulligan around him. Get the DAB running both ways and we'll see what he really has to offer as a player.

It was acknowledged by Goodwin last week that their new recruits weren't upto fitness yet and that doesn't change in that time frame. For Dundee most of the players have been a constant in the last 4/5 cup games and friendlies. The last twenty minutes is when we'll begin to domimate the DABs IMO and it's perfect timing for Tiffoney to enter. The Doc could be tricky and start Main with it in his head to bring P-H and Tiffoney late on to win the game.

Either way as long as a good performance is on show you've got to take it on the chin if the result goes the other way. The best team doesn't always win but without doubt we have to go out there and be the best team in all aspects. That is my expectation.

    Thank you.

    You’re welcome. (Again)

Sorry, but you are the one who took 2 words out of my original post (and girls) and made a big deal out of it…..

Let’s say no more about it and enjoy game tomorrow.👍

I simply asked for information on the coming season as it's not something i've alot of knowledge on and you used it as a tool for Uniteds domination of the City. That started off an attack from your lot on womans football of which i have no leaning for or against.

    Strange bunch.

Spot on though, good occassion tomorrow and that's certainly where my focus is.

    Thank you.

  9. Right folks, let's just call off the mens game tomorrow and award the three points to Utd. They've got a woman's team and Dundee are only beginning their journey on that platform.

Disgrace that we're allowed to compete with clubs like this.

'We've got a woman's team and you don't!'. We've reached rock bottom on here.

    Thank you.

Whether you like it or not, women's football is growing rapidly in Scotland and it will be used as another pathway of getting fans into supporting a  particular club from a young age (like handing out free tickets to kids).

The fact that Dundee don't have a women's team by now is just another f**k up by the people managing Dundee in truth.

What the f**k are you lot going on about?

    Thank you.

    You’re welcome.

    Why did you ask then?

As a  matter of fact, I have indeed followed the women’s team since they started.  Having a daughter who is a keen footballer, we have both always kept a close eye on their progress. I just couldn’t be arsed going over it with you.

Equally, I noted them in the interest of inclusion as they represent United in the city as well at the top level of the women’s game, and may play their part, (not the only part) in attracting fans to the club from a young age.

Assume what you like though and let’s leave it at that.

Dundee FC Community trust has only in the past 2 years started to have any sort of girls pathway.

Be at least another 5 years before they have a women's team and any sort of decent structure to support that.

Now in the interests of balance and having two young daughters who play I hope for all the other lassies in the city that want to play for the Dees they catch up to DUWFC so they have that opportunity.

Sadly I feel that's likely a decade away at least.

Using woman's football and inclusion to point score.

Somebody make it stop, this site along with society is going to the dogs. One day before the Dundee derby and the DABs are bleating on about their daughters football matches.

It comes down to 90 minutes tomorrow and whoever is in the crowd at each end will be going tonto if their team wins. That includes a whopping majority of wummin and kids in the home ends as we all know.

Shove the rest of your nonsense up your arses.

    Thank You.

    You’re welcome.

Great that you are interested. A quick Google* search of Dundee United Women will tell you all you need to know about the current playing squad, what league they play in, and where they finished last season.

I cannot speak for their hopes for the season, but assume that they will be to try to avoid relegation and the play off spot. Top half is unlikely I’m afraid.

    Hope this helps.

    *Other search engines are available.

    Nah, couldn't give a flying f**k.

You were the one stating that the women's team on the pitch will continue to keep the city of Dundee Tangerine. That's Interesting considering you don't know a single thing about them, but obviously every other Arab must do.

Interesting I'll need to keep an eye on it. Maybe you were just being a virtue signalling fud though.

    Thank you.

I don’t think we will sign another CB. Docherty has got the players to play a back 4. If Jack decides to sign for us then we’d have extra cover for our defenders. Mulligan can even play as a winger in a 4-3-3.

Jack would be the cover for our defenders?

    Thank you.

Absolutely love the optimism, good on you. Perhaps if you eventually win something that might help long term.

That being said,  I do feel that all those  free Tannadice tickets that (some of) you Dees mock so much will go a long way to ensuring the future of the city remains deeply Tangerine. 🍊

Over tine, the boys (and girls) on the park will do the rest. 😀

On that point how is the Utd girls team you mention fairing? Who are their best players? Hopes for the season?

Seems like you're the man to ask.

    Thank you.

  15. Looking at a strongest 11 of:

    McCracken

    Ingram Portales Shaughnessy Robertson Larkeche

    McCowan Sylla Mulligan

    Murray Palmer-Houlden.

With the likes of Carson, Cameron, Tiffoney, Astley, McGhee and Main in reserve. This with Graham looking class as another one rolls out from our youth setup. 2/3 signings and we'll have a solid, solid squad. Even if the derby goes pear shaped we're in for a strong seson IMO. No need to press the panic button. As it is though more than confident of going there and winning.

    Thank you.

Lakerche is very good going forward. Didn't get many starts as a LB and was properly thrown under the bus when football mastermind Gareth Ainsworth started him at RB once. Came on as sub last season a few times as a makeshift left winger and was very effective. Would be a good signing IMO but might take a few games to settle.

Random one but i've seen a few QPR/Dundee stickers dotted around near Dens. Are you the culprit?

    Thank you.

  17. Oh deary me, straight in with the negative vibes there. f**k Barnsley fans and f**k the QPR fans.

On the face of it he looks like a right talent but obviously someone who is still young and not the finished article. Thankfully The Doc has a track record of improving young players and this looks like his next project.

Very happy if it's confirmed tomorrow and plenty of games last season at a good level.

    Thank you.
