What if GRRM ends the books differently to the show....

      Reveal hidden contents

I have no issues with how the show ended

It all depends on whether he manages to finish them in the first place.

If he does, I would guess that while there will be some similarities, it will be quite a bit different from the show.

  2. The books, especially the last 2 are bloated as f**k. You could probably cut the number of pages in half by taking all the descriptions of food and people eating, out of them.

    'Grease dribbled down his chin'

    Aye ? No shit George.

To be fair I have made the mistake of assuming that all of the people fuming about being presented with information are young but I'm forgetting the raging gammon stereotype. I personally just find it interesting that a programme which features women far more prominently than most of the serious box-set favourites (like The Sopranos, The Wire, Boardwalk Empire and Breaking Bad) still has a pretty noticeable deficit when it comes to parts/prominence for men and women. You'd expect the stats to be met with 'That's interesting' rather than spitting feathers in a @banana style. I also find the Bechdel Test interesting even though a good proportion of my favourite films of all time fail.

I don't think anyone is really spitting feathers banana style tbh. Merely pointing out the clickbaity style of the article, it's cherry picking and complete ignorance of other factors.

There's certainly a discussion to be had regarding the representation of, over-sexualisation and violence against woman in the show (or indeed other shows). Again, with context.

The Bechdel test is interesting to a degree, but flawed. I believe less than a third of the GOT episodes passed.

I think all of those have been ruled out. Martin was specifically asked about the first two and said no.

Which is a shame as they're probably the easiest to write and make and would be most recognisable to fans of the show.

The other two i mentioned would probably be very CGI heavy and expensive.

    Clickbait shite.

It doesn't even take into consideration that a large part of the show was set at the wall with the nights watch and during times of war. Blindingly obvious that there's not many lassies kicking about there.

There's even a graph in there that shows 4 of the top 7 speaking roles were female.

I mean, is anyone really surprised that a show, for all intents and purposes, set in medieval Britain/Europe, is based on a patriarchal society. Chuck in themes of incest, rape etc. and I'm shocked that it's going to appear that women are getting a bit of a raw deal.

  6. I believe they're making a prequel about the Long Night, set roughly 3000 years previous. Not particularly fussed about this given how shite the Night King/white walkers storyline was handled.

    Would love...

    A Robert's Rebellion series.

    Dunk and Egg series.

Something about the original Dragonlords and the Doom of Valyria.

Aegon's conquest, would be ok I guess.

I mean, what the f**k did you expect after the last 2 series ?

Hiya George R. R. Martin, hiya pal

Just got to hope that procrastinating fat c**t gets his finger out and finishes the books so we get the proper story and the proper ending.

You would think so. Birdie on 18 for Johnson would make it interesting.

Looks like dropping another on 17.

If they had any baws they would have waved their wee Palestine ribbons during their performance.

They were the only ones with balls to do anything tbf. Arguably, they should have boycotted the whole thing.

Anyway, did you not see their performance ? Not much room for ribbons.
