  1. Been to Palolem in South Goa for the last 4 januaries and loved it but it looks like next January is a non starter due to the current situation which is a bugger. Still, memories and all that

  2. The Running Man
I took a break from fretting over the election to watch Arnie kick ass. This is in my top 5 Arnie movies and it's also my favourite Stephen King adaptation.
A near perfect slice of 80s action.
    9/10

Watched it the other night having seen it a few years ago and noticed that Mick Fleetwood was in it which I hadn’t previously noticed. Still good fun.

  3. I’m not too familiar with Goa, but was speaking with a guy in my local who is heading out there and managed to get direct flights from Manchester.

I was out living in Bangalore with work. Absolutely loved India and regret ever coming back. I’m considering a jaunt over for leisure in the summer and see some old friends! Amazing country!

Repeating Goa in January for the 4th year in a row, Palolem beach hut , for 2 weeks just love it. Still flying Glasgow to Dubai, Dubai to Mumbai then local flight to Goa. 24 hours to get there but so worth it to relax
  4. Faro old town is relatively nice if you want a good meal and a bevvy without the stereotypical hordes. Lagos was nice enough also, had a bit of everything, though at night was a bit too "lads/girls on holiday". Lisbon during the day isn't great but at night is fucking tremendous, especially Bairro Alto. Best bet for taking it in is to start at Rossio station and walk up the hill and back the way. Food and drink was immense and the general atmosphere was outstanding.

Just back from 4 days in Faro, thoroughly enjoyed it. Friendly locals, loved the old town, nice bars and good food. All at good prices. Great weather too which was a bonus.
  5. Doing the India thing again this week, Palolem in South Goa for the third January in a row. So relaxing (although three flights to get there but two are Emirates so that’s good to be fair).

  6. American Assassin (Netflix)
Guy loses his fiance in a terrorist attack and wants revenge becoming a CIA agent, not a bad movie,a lot of clichés but pretty good,a  diet Bourne of sorts....7/10

Yup agree with this pretty much, although I did enjoy it actually. Good action but yes the patter was quite obvious all the way through. However, a decent watch.
  7. Just back from 4 days there, stayed about 200 yards from St Marks Square in a lovely 15th century hotel, small and smart on the very edge of Costello. Not as busy as I expected but not quiet obviously. Also not as expensive as I thought it might be. Very friendly people, loved the place, beautiful. Great food and drink and walked just about everywhere you can walk, getting a bit lost and finding our way back again, great fun. Temperature was mid 80s. Definitely will return.

  8. Just experienced the airport for the first time on a return journey to Venice last week. No problems whatsoever with security, travel, staff etc. Clean, efficient, no issues. Got a bus from Buchanan Bus Station, Glasgow there and back, traffic a bit busy but altogether no problems. Would travel from Edinburgh again.

  9. Planning on going to Venice for 4 days mid June 2018 with my wife, prob b&b or room only, any updated advice where specifically to go, enjoy food & drink and plan on having a good time seeing the sights but chilling out if possible. Any recommendations on areas to stay not necessarily in the main area?

  10. In Palolem right now with temperatures of 32 degrees and lucky to be away from what I gather is really bad weather in some parts of home, Glasgow. Not boasting just saying. That said, gosh it’s hot here [emoji57]

  11. Off to South Goa again in January, Palolem Beach for a major chill there as my wife and I did last January. Can’t wait. Glasgow to Dubai then Mumbai via Emirates then local flight to Goa. Great weather, food, chilled atmosphere, not expensive at all. Great way to get over the January blues.

  12. Just back from 4 days in Berlin in the Kreuzberg area. Flights from Glasgow there and back no issues, Schönefeld airport was fine although tiny bar on the way back. Transport in Berlin was excellent, plenty bars, mostly better at night. Enjoyable river cruises, not so much the bus tour. Very good museums around and obviously the usual tourist spots. People were very friendly and Kreuzberg was enjoy able, def bohemian. Weather was okay too.

  13. It's my favourite city to visit and I know East Berlin very well and happy to offer any advice for areas like Kreuzberg, Friedrichshain, Neukoln, (top 3 areas imo) and also Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg.  I don't go for fine dining though, quite the opposite tbh because I can do enough of that here.  There are a lot of very nice places to eat in the east but it's more casual. You might be better looking at the west of the city.

Going to Kreuzberg for 4 days in mid November, staying in a flat via airbnb. Any recommendations for places to go? Bars and cafes rather than fine dining is our thing. The wall and checkpoint Charlie presumably but anywhere else? Cheers.
