Mooy himself has said he was homesick, unfit and unhappy and had to go away and get his passion for the game back. When he went back to Australia he had to start from the very bottom. Credit to him. The other midfielders keeping him out the  team at that time were guys like McLean, McGowan,  Carey and Teale, hammerthrowers to a man, and Thompson was one of the best players ever to play for St Mirren, but apart from all that, great post mate.

He also said he wasn't given a fair chance which was true. He was criticised after his debut for trying too hard to dictate play and impress. If he'd just have ran around chasing crisp packets and kicking people he would of been in the team as a first pick.

Thompson is one of the worst strikers to ever wear the strip.  Almost single handedly got us relegated with his lazy big time attitude in a year when our midfield was excellent and creating chances for fun. I will never ever forget him in one game getting countless balls played down the side to him and him just stood still, arms out, moaning, refusing to move as it wasn't to his feet. One of the worst things I've ever witnessed. And as if that wasn't bad enough, when we got relegated, he said oh I don't want it to end like this and kept playing on next season, almost getting us relegated for a second season running. We only survived and picked up when he was finally dropped and punted. Will never forgive him or forget when we were fighting relegation and he was pretending like he wasn't part of it, faking injury, even laughing about it on sportscence with his bbc gravy train pals who were pointing out he was running around the studio acting like a daft wee lassie just fine, when he was supposed to be unable to walk and crippled with a knee injury and a torn hamstring. And then there's the fact he threw a spear through mcginns leg because he nutmegged him 😂 Can't be showing big time stevie up in front of the boys. I used tae be a Burnly reserve! Oh but that's only banter, it's ok lads.

But hey think what you will. We're all entitled to an opinion.

Other than that, totally agree though "mate".

We released him in the summer of 2012 I think as he wanted to go back to Australia. I thought he had potential and never really got a fair crack with us, although I didn't think he'd go on to be as good as he has.

Had he stayed on for the following season we could have had a midfield containing him, Kenny McLean and John McGinn!

Tuesday is the eighth anniversary of Aaron Mooy Day.

I distinctly remember the manager at the time criticizing him for "trying too hard" to make things happen. That translates as he showed a bit of skill which isn't on so we'll stick a hammer thrower in there instead. No doubt the same nonsense with mahrez who was running amok in the reserves but oh no you can't get a game unless you're a big time charlie or one of the banter lads like stevie "stand still and moan" thompson. Typical scottish football fare really.

Just seen that, Hopkin apparently seething at the ref.

Doesnt even look close to being waterlogged there, ref presumably just cant be fucked.

The ball was still moving better than it does on any of the plastic pitches. Check him tiptoeing about as if there was actually puddles to avoid 😂

Waters is getting picked on by teams- he's struggling and could do with a seat on the bench but we have little option- especially now Broadfoot and MacKenzie are long term absences.

Glad it's not just me that has noticed this. He is absolutely rotten defensively, just keeps backing off and letting people run into the box. New left back should be a priority in january. He was also at blame for one of the aberdeen goals and was to blame for the cross that came in for the free header that should have been scored. Were not a team that can afford to have passengers that can't defend, just because they can whip a decent cross in.

  5. It's a hard one. Obika miscontrols and knocks it on rather than actually meaning to slip it past the keeper. It's debatable whether he would have got to it before the defender as well after that. But then you could say all of that only happens as he anticipates he is about to be clattered by lewis who had no chance of getting the ball and is reckless and out of control. I can see why it was only given as a yellow in real time but that was a red all day long in VAR world. Who'd be a referee.

Either way, a penalty should be a goal 95% of the time, never mind the open goal after it. Add to that the countless free headers we squandered in the first half, can only blame ourselves.

That happened about three years ago ffs.

Willie Miller can’t get his head around the fact if you’re going for the ball in the box and it’s not dangerous then it’s not a red card. c**t is paid for this ffs.

He's got a point though. The rule is very much open to interpretation. He said he came out and clattered him when he had no chance of winning the ball. Can it be classed as a genuine attempt to get the ball if there's next to no chance of winning it fairly. It doesn't just need to be dangerous play it can be if it's deemed deliberate.

Stubbs on Sportsound just now, it's a tough listen. Just threw out the classic "I'm not blaming anyone but"

The guy is an absolute disgrace and it says a lot about how much of a best pals act is going on within sections of the scottish media that he is continually allowed to voice his delusional views over and over again.

All of his ex celtic buddies sticking with their own as well and continually backing him and slating the club. The guy should have absolutely nothing to do with scottish football ever again. It's one thing to have confidence in yourself and quite another to be totally unable to analyse your decision and admit you made a total arse of it.

I wonder if he'll bother getting an honest job or if he'll just sit around whining and whoring himself out everytime a manager position becomes available. In his mind he probably decided against the hibs job, it;s not that jack ross was chosen 😂

Unfortunately for Hibs they appointed Jack Ross. A man who is so good at recognising talent that he got rid of attackers like Shankland, McMullen, and Hardie replacing them with Hippolyte and Foy and who pissed off top goalscorer Gavin Reilly to accommodate Danny Mullen. And who at Sunderland decided to sell their matchwinner and top goalscorer Josh Maja for an "undisclosed fee" and talented winger Joel Asoro, so he could replace them with Will Grigg, Lewis Morgan and Kezaiah Sterling.

A pretty comprehensive statement. Quite impressive that I disagree with the entire thing 🤣 Pretty sure mcmullan is still being rotten in the championship and what's world beater gavin reilly up to these days?

Just you stick to worrying about whether Neil McCann or Stuart McCall will be getting the yams job, m8.

McCann or McCall getting the hearts job may be the only thing that saves us from relegation. 😂 I don't suppose they would consider appointing Stubbs. He would release the entire first team squad because a journalist down his local pub said they weren't good enough and replace them with non league jobbers that are being headhunted by english premier league teams but want to play in the SPl instead 😂

You're* a very angry man. I suppose that comes with supporting a football club that tries to be as Celtic-y as possible.

*This is an abbreviated way of saying "you are", btw.

Fecking hell. I know some hibs fans have a tendency to be shelik lite but I didn't realise there were hearts fans that were rangers lite! Stop being lazy and just get an ibrox season ticket laddy. It's only an hour on the train, and you can fully embrace your (correct version) inner bigotry.
