We have to believe, 3 seasons in this bloody abyss is torture. If McGlynn has shown that kind of faith then that’s good enough for me. Oh and btw I was never seething about Murray and Nisbet leaving. And now Gillespie. Absolutely chuffed about McKay. It’ll be a big season for him and one he’ll totally excell in.

With the signings you boys are making make that 5 seasons in this bloody abyss, nae luck.

  2. Just had to be nosey and see how Dumfries is handling this relegation scenario.Got to be honest love to see Queens in League 1 next season for purely financial reasons,a couple of derbys at Stair pk and the new year fixture.Although early season I forecast Queens would struggle after watching our game against you in July and after Harkin left was convinced you would be in the bottom 3.Not really sold on Naysmith and so it's proved. For what it's worth if you land in the PO against Montrose you should win, they are workmanlike but if you can't beat them you deserve to be in League 1.The problem will come in the final and it might be written in the stars that John Baird and Dale Hilson will come back to haunt there former club, providing Forfar beat Raith.I'll be keeping a close eye on proceedings at Palmerston while watching a dead rubber at Stair park.Just can't bring it to myself to wish you all the best, but Queens fans must be really nervous.

     Based on?

Trouten seems to have coped fine and this season I've liked McGuigan a lot more this season than I liked Trouten last.

Hope Wallace stays but should just get this season out the road first before talking about who should or shouldn't stay. Everyone in the squad has played a part this year, our best season in forever

ETA: McGuigan won't sign so it's immaterial anyway

Probably based on  Stranraer releasing him a couple of seasons ago for not scoring enough in League 1,but to be fair he had an in and out season due to injuries etc.His 4 performances against the blues this season have resulted in zero goals,he scored quite a lot before the new year but hasn't been that clever recently, would take Ryan Wallace any day of the week and have watched both in a Stranraer jersey, but obviously imo

Time to get ready for league 1 I'd say if dobbies season is over we are in big trouble the squad was always to small but the decision to not bring in another goal scorer was always going to haunt us.
We simply MUST WIN at Alloa on sat

Would love to have the new year derby back,a small team on a small budget against Stranraer excellent:thumsup2

I always remember Airdrie 8-1 Stranraer at Broadwood.
4 red cards, a disallowed goal, Stranraer taking the lead direct from a wind assisted corner, and it was the only game my old man missed that season.

Also remember beating Ayr down at Somerset and Stevie Cooper scoring a hat trick. That season my old man said every time Stevie scored I could get a bit of chocolate. I was sick that day in Ayr.;)

Bloody refs still against us in 1994,you couldnae make it up,you cross I'll score Ammo.

A very frustrated man in that interview. I’ve seen a lot of ridiculous time wasting from teams this season but yesterday wasn’t one of them and i dont agree that forfar were playing for a draw either. As soon as linn doris and wallace came off we had nothing really

Dick mentioned time wasting at Stranraer as well, Arbroath never do it:whistle wait till he plays Montrose he'll take a fit.

Anybody hear any rumours on Saturday about Stuart Millar being appointed Director of Football? It was being talked about at half time. I think he’s been in a similar role at Stranraer until recently (also an ex-player).

With a full time manager already in place, not sure how it’ll work at a club our size. If true, I’m sure the club will be forthcoming with a communication shortly (as ever...)

Going by the Stranraer FC Facebook page you've got him.:whistle

I wouldn’t exactly call a league cup game a ‘glorified friendly’. We’ve been great at times this season but it’s all turned to sh*t very quick. I wouldn’t have predicted at the start of the season that we would struggle, it was always going to be a tight league with the league containing no real wipping boys. The injuries to Low and Todd have hit us hard as they are very creative players for us. I’m still confident that we’ll turn it around but with Falkirk and Patrick picking up points it needs to be soon. Btw I really like the boy in your team, Kyle Turner. Wouldn’t mind him at Palmerston.

Re Turner, watched by 2 Scottish Championship teams on Saturday,Queens weren't one of them

  9. Just thought I'd pop along and see the meltdown over here, not gloating here as a Stranraer supporter.I think Queens have probably the biggest 6 weeks in their history Watching your lot dismantling us roughly about 7 years ago didn't think we would see yous in 20 years again but things change quickly in fitba.Queens have 2 massive games in that time Falkirk at Palmerston and Alloa at the Idodrill.I think if you lose both, your in the seaside League next season and the ramifications that will bring.I watched Queens in July against us and I know it was nothing more than a glorified friendly, but I said to my mates at the time Queens will struggle this season and so it's proved. As a Stranraer supporter our crowds are pathetic, but noticed Queens could only muster just over a 1,000 on Saturday, didn't think I would ever see that day, that must be a big worry.Although my own team aren't safe yet,we are least picking up points here and there,Queens are in horrible run of form and I really fear for you boys it's not nice. One final thing didn't I read somewhere supporters wanted Naysmith on a long term deal, pretty unreal that.

  10. The boy Watson goalscoring exploits against Stranraer are discussed on the excellent Stranraer FC podcast It's no easy as they discuss this week's game against East Fife.Amazingly if the blues beat East Fife and Brechin on Tuesday the gap could well be 5 points, being 15 just a matter of weeks ago.Looks like injuries could have come at the wrong time for the fifers, but to be honest Stranraer have had a wretched time with injuries this season. But apart from Raith I think Arbroath,Forfar and East Fife have been lucky with injuries this term maybe apart from Aggy EF look to have been not too bad,but swings and roundabouts as they say

That Stranraer fella must have been at a different game. His comments in general are bizarre; especially the Rangers and wage ones.

Was of course just a training game and there's not really much I can say.

    S. Gallagher - Didn't fill me with confidence, Jazza was talking him through the game (subbed at halftime)

Smith - didn't have a great game, but we know what he can do.
Dowie - impressed me, a leader and looks like Jamie Carragher.
Barr - positionally not great, but did what he needed to do, comfortable driving with the ball.
McIlduff - didn't have a very good half

    C. Gallagher - not involved much, but couple of nice things when he was.
    G. Gallagher - I thought he played very well in centre mid; breaking up play and doing a power of running (moved to RB later and didn't have much to do).
Wilson - Did well, just got stuck in in the centre of the park, couple of nice passes.
    Carswell - Carswell.
Walsh - again, not involved too much but decent when he was.

Stewart - He's going to need a partner to find him when he makes runs.

    Subs:

Hill - Didn't have anything to do, Stranraer hardly had the ball in our half in the second half. Did everything he had to though.
Jordan Allan - looked like he might have something, would definitely say he's worth another look
Chris Johnston - Was a threat, looked pacy and direct. I reckon if we got him playing with confidence he could be very good for us.
Prior - did what was asked of him, passed the ball well.
Sub Keeper (Connor?) - young guy - came in at half time and literally had nothing to do, his kicking looked good though.
Centre back/left back (Anthony) - one of the skinniest people, let alone centre backs, I've ever seen. Didn't have much to do, but did what he had to.

Obviously though it was a training game and isn't a great way to judge players... not that it stopped me.

My god Sir,that is some post for a bounce game,if you learnt something from that game yesterday your good.Nothing more than a fitness get together, the only thing I learnt yesterday is the Scottish Summer is woeful, blew a gale on the first day of July.

    That's longworth confirmed. Good news

Could be good news, but on evidence last season from what I saw may well have lost the edge. His best years were defo at Queens pk and first 2 years at Stair pk,couldn't get into Brian Reid's team and there wasn't too much shouting about that decision.I know he didn't get much game time with Alloa last season and hopefully he will prove me wrong,I noticed FF wanted to maybe pair him up with Colin Mac,that would be slower than a call centre in Asia.:o

  13. Can I just ask what has Barry Smith done to get this gig?Watched EF last season and was pretty underwhelmed by them, although they beat Stranraer at Bayview early on wasn't really impressed by them at Stair pk.I think Smith was only there for a short term and if I was a Rovers fan I would be wee bit concerned.:o

When you take a look at the squad of 16 who played our first game of the season (funnily enough against Brechin - we lost) compared to the squad yesterday, it's pretty clear we were on a hiding to nothing. We only had 10 players of any repute. The reasons are well documented and as far as I'm concerned Ferguson deserves credit getting us to where we were yesterday. A chance of staying up. It's hugely frustrating as there is no way we were the worst team in that league, but we gave the teams we should have had a realistic chance of finishing above too much of a head start. Most of those heavy defeats and crazy goals mentioned came early in the campaign.

It's up to Bomber to use his powers of persuasion with the squad. If he can keep the team that finished the season together then I would go into next season with some confidence, but I realise that's unlikely for the reasons noted above.

Yesterday was odd. We didn't play well, but we garnered 7 points from the last three games. It was the story of the season. Just when we got within touching distance, results would go against us again.

Sorry beaver1 I don't agree with you, you's  were the worst team in the League, after 36 games you were bottom,no excuses giving starts etc.I said after last seasons Stenny performance at Stair pk in 2016 you were certs to be relegated and i was right, but you didn't need to be a genius to forecast that.I think you probably did us a big favour beating us 1-0 at Ochilview in January,we sacked our Manager and turned the season around by appointing Steven Farrell.I wish you well in League 2,it could be a tricky League to get promoted.
