Hanratty away back to Aberdeen. I suspect more of Irvines loanees will being going back to parent clubs ASAP.

At present I think the only one that should be kept is Dailly. The gaffers post match interview confirming Darren Whyte has a hamstring tear, so need him. The rest can head back and I’d be happy for Hussain to leave too. Doesn’t look up to it

Woohoo, two wins on the trot. Can some clever stat guy look back in time and tell us when was the last time we won two games in a row?

Great to see Thommo playing good again. Stef is our best attacker. Hopefully the injuries to Slater and Whyte aren't serious as they are our two most influential players being captain and vice-captain respectively.

It was December last year before it all went wrong

  3. We are hardly cut adrift, the situation is eminently escapable but only if the Board actually make the right decision soon. I have no confidence that our tinpot rabble of blazer and tie wearers will do so though.

I’m hopeful that given the update of thanks on the website had no mention of the boards support for Irvine, that the boot maybe coming.
  4. Bring back Trav.

He’s only played once this season for Edinburgh city or whatever they are called now!

Think the kelty game is a free hit for Irvine but another home loss on Saturday surely has to be it. 7 wins in 31 (potentially) is too much to bare for a team hoping to challenge, no matter who you are, the good will within or the usual lack of action from board!
  5. We can say what we like about the sheer incompetence of the officials today but ultimately the fact we had a man advantage for almost an hour & still struggled needs to be looked at.

We've no real cutting edge. The goal early in the game we conceded was shambolic. Armour showed where a striker should be for his goal, matty just isn't the answer. The back 4... shaky at best & I'd agree Mark is becoming more error prone.

Whilst some may like Irvine & Co they can surely see how poor on the whole we've been this calender year. No Plan B, constant sideways passing.... Sometimes they need to accept to win at this level, you don't need to play 'football'

Surely one thing we should be better at is defending. Bollan, Weir, Malcolm and now Irvine, all defenders! Maybe we shouldn’t be surprised the footy isn’t always positive but should be better at the other end and surely they can identify good defenders!

7 wins since Boxing Day should be a worry for any club but I’d suggest it’s better having a good option to bring in before you make a change. Who’s out there that could have a positive attacking influence on the team?

Quite a few people say that Irvine's problem is his lack of plan B when plan A doesn't work. I had nothing better to do so I took a tactical deep dive and thought I'd share a few ideas that the Loons could do (even though Gary will never see them). Now I'm not qualified to lead a mini kick-about for children let alone have the certificates needed to coach and manage a professional football club but doing my best armchair manager thinking I've come up with 3 options that vary from the 4-4-2 Gary constantly pursues so that the team can make tweaks and changes to adapt to the game and opposition. Happy to hear other peoples ideas on these and their own suggestions. It's totally pointless but us fans do like to think we know more than the managers and coaching staff at clubs do.

Brilliant, found that interesting and had a wee play with it too.

I'd prefer them to play this formation, as it allows Slater to drop deep and get on the ball however allows Hutton to protect if he drives forwards but enough in front of him to look for with his great passing.

When Whyte is back, the high wide forwards allows his good passing to be used rather than just punted up the middle to a single striker.

    Just a thought

  7. Difficult to tell from the photo on the Washington Huskies Twitter page but is the number 8 possibly Josh Jack? Him and Irvine would have briefly been at St Mirren at the same time.

That’s him, def worth another run out.

Also thought Moore looked up for it last night, not saying he’s the saviour but he worked hard and showed some great bits of skill. I’d agree him and slater haven’t really clicked but definitely a better option than Hutton or harkins.
  8. This is also my concern.
At my count we have 1 goal and 4 shots on target over 3 games.
Hopefully a more settled team produces more attempts.

As much as no 8 out a few good balls in, he is similar to what we have and still a lack of creativity. Can’t see where that’s coming from, especially with slater dropping deep to get the ball
  9. Moore is a permanent signing but he’s looked like he’s improved in recent weeks. I think he hadn’t played since last season when he first signed so it was always going to take him time to improve.

So he is! Can’t see many of the other permanent signings staying. Slater bound to be snapped up, hoped to keep him if we went up. Most of the guys on the bench today won’t want to stick around, especially the lesser spotted Archie Thomas
  10. Fisher is a bit of a weird one in that he struggled with injury for the first half of the season. He then got played at right back, left back and in one game on the right wing. The last few weeks he’s started and has looked decent, but that’s his first proper run of games all season.
Strachan on the other hand looked ropey to begin with and grew into a good left back, chipping in with assists. Only to then be dropped inexplicably for a central midfielder in his position.

Totally agree, Sam has looked decent and has a good range of passing. Two leagues might be a jump though.
I don’t think brindley did badly at left back it’s just he should never have been there, especially after Luke started improving.
Moore looked good on and off and warnock did well in recent weeks. Big issue at this level relying on loan signings!
  11. That was mostly woeful. Can't defend like that and expect to win. Midfield offers no protection to the defence

Had a decent 10 minute spell when we scored the 2nd but didn't offer an awful lot. We need a more mobile midfield, don't need Harkins to do his bit at a snails pace when we have Slater to be the playmaker. What's Anderson got to do to get a start?

Spot on assessment! Can’t see the point in harkins playing!
  12. Was quite impressed with Craig Thomson today as well.
Looking good going forward, still a bit wary about our defence.
also If slater picks up an injury, not really sure who can fill in for him.

Not sure about Strachan and wonder who the centre backs will be when all fit? Like Munro’s authority and how vocal he is but possibly the worst of the lot.
Loved being back in the ground today!! Mon the loons
  13. I think it would be a good place to start if he’s already at Forfar it means he probably doesn’t think you are to low for him. He would be a superb appointment and you may even get instant promotion back if you get a decent squad next year.

I agree, I’m sure many assistants think about giving it a go as managers. The organisation is a huge thing at this level.

The contacts he will have can only help us get players in, more ‘fit’ mark hill from Celtic than guys from lowland league. Appreciate it’s not a given either way though.
