The General Ross County Chat Thread
Matty-RCFC replied to yoda's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Didn’t watch the game as I had zero motivation to pay to watch it (knew it would be another awful slog) but by all sounds it seems like Arbroath were unlucky not to get anything from the game. Best of luck for the rest of the season too. -

All I can recall is the free-kick at home to Saints. Apart from that nothing really. Hope he does well at Partick mind but I reckon he’ll be off at the end of next season anyway. -

Number of times I’ve seen we’re only Ross County and we don’t deserve to be in this league etc; absolutely sick of it. Who does deserve to be in this league then? Hearts/Falkirk/Dunfermline etc because they have a bigger fan base? No. We’re here on a results based basis therefore deserve to be here. And for as long as we’re in this league we should be aiming to be as high as possible in it instead of always being happy with surviving by the skin of our teeth each season. -
Playoff Semi Final , 18th October 2020

I think we’ll play a back 3. Cooper-McTominay-Porteous. Then Robertson and Fraser as wing backs. Don’t agree with it at all but I think that’s what Clarke will do personally. -

I paid 12 (TWELVE) Great British Pounds to watch that hurl of shite tonight. Worst stream quality i’ve ever had, topped by the worst County performance of the season so far without fail. Utter shambles from back to front. Said it before and I’ll say it again - Kettlewell is not the man to lead this club forward. -

We’ve been crying out for wingers for as long as we’ve been in the premiership so don’t get your hopes up. -

Couldn’t agree more. Does a fine job at centre back but his ability on the ball is almost wasted there. Would love to see him play in front of the back 4 as he’d definitely give us more than Vigurs there. -

Think the problem this window has been the signing of too many squad players. Nobody has really made the squad that much better; instead just signing a couple of players that match the ability we already have (or lack of it). -

I’ve been RCC’s biggest critic, but thought he had a pretty decent game today to be fair. Kent was quite quiet, and he looked the only one interested in getting up to help Stewart in support -

Whilst I think that Reid would get torn a new arse against Jones/Hagi, Iacovitti has been our best defender this season so far and I think he’s required at centre half. He also is far too slow to play full back against that Rangers system. To be honest, I highly doubt we’ll play 433 today anyway so I think Morris will start at centre back with Donaldson and Iacovitti. -

I could understand a new manager coming in and taking a squad that had been adopted from the previous manager, but ultimately this whole squad has been his choice. He’s been joint manager for 2 and a bit years previous so he’s had a say in, near enough, every player currently in the first team squad. He’s then gone out and bought 8/9 players and, O’Connor and Hylton aside, only one looks any cop. So to say any manager would struggle with that squad; maybe so. But he was the reason they’ve all been brought in in the first place. I’m not calling for his head and I do agree that we’re 9 matches into his tenure. Also certainly don’t begrudge your view whatever it is as everyone is entitled to an opinion. I’m just saying we’ve got zero identity and we’ve scraped every single point we’ve earned so far. -

Fair enough, kind of misinterpreted what you said. However, do you think Kettlewell is the man to take us forward? Personally I don’t. -

No mate, working it out on the utter shite that’s going on in front of our eyes. Surely you’d have to agree because surely you don’t believe Kettlewell is doing a good job? You do you though... -

Jermaine Hylton signs on a one year deal from Motherwell. Mullin away though. Must’ve been some behind the scenes issues there but can’t fault the guy for his effort; will always be welcomed back. -
Rangers vs Ross County - October 4th
Matty-RCFC replied to The_Kincardine's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Kettlewell should use this game as a chance for players who haven’t proven themselves yet. It’s a free hit so just go and give them the freedom to play. That being said, can’t see anything other than an absolute pummelling, Kettlewell still finding a way to pick Vigurs even though he’s suspended and Ross Stewart running around like a headless chicken while Josh Reid gets rings ran round him by Hagi and Tavernier. ETA: come to think of it, the result could actually get scary. We are significantly worse in every matchup on the pitch so I think anything under 4 goals would be alright. -

I’d take whatever we can get for him right now because he looks as if he’s not interested anyway. However, MK Dons? Is that really a bigger platform to go prove himself on? -

Give what a bit more time? We’ve almost had a full round of fixtures and we haven’t won a game by more than a goal yet - every point we’ve had we have scraped and with a bit less luck with other results around us we could easily be a lot further down the table than we are. Let’s face it, we’re going to get hammered by Rangers and Hibs in our next two games so we will be 9/10th after those and from there it’s an uphill battle. No doubt Kettlewell will start the same team as yesterday (bar his best mate Vigurs) away at Rangers next week. And as for Charles-Cook I honestly don’t have a positive word to say about him so far. He’s far too safe, he doesn’t look fit, his passing is awful and he can’t beat a man so why does he deserve a start? -

We’re in trouble. Everyone has bought the hype of the first 2 games when in reality we were lucky to beat Motherwell at home and Hamilton are, it seems, worse than us. We struggle to score goals. Pretty much all of them coming from set pieces or second balls from set pieces. Stewart has looked poor for last 4 games and I think Iacovitti is the only summer signing that has looked okay so far. Doesn’t seem to be any style of play whatsoever because the team don’t press yet are always so open. Other results have gone out way for weeks but I’ll be very surprised if we’re not in the bottom 2 within the next month or so. -

Looking as poor as usual. Can’t string a pass. Got to be changes at halftime because our midfield has been powder puff and if it carries on in this shape could be 3/4-0 by the end.
