  1. Confused at the relevance Andy Goldie has with Glass/Meekison/Mochrie to be honest. they were all out or nearly out the academy by the time he showed up.

Regardless, United have been pretty successful with bringing in youth players this year, Fotheringham being one of the best players in the league, Graham (if he stays) cementing himself a first-team spot, Thomson showing how he can contribute, and O'Donnell being very good away on loan. It does look like the young players are returning to what we expect them to be at United. Hopefully, O'Donnell and Mcleod (as long as they aren't sold) can break through next season and Graham/Fotheringham/Thomson can continue with where they've left off.

  2. If it was purely an on-the-pitch decision, letting go of McMann is a bad idea. Even if you have a better left back coming in, you keep McMann anyway as a back up.

The rest all seem fair to me. Some of them had their moments but we need to be ruthless, ESPECIALLY if some of the wages I'm seeing are true (if Chalmers was on 2k a week then what the f**k was Glass/Mochrie/Meekison on?). What gives me hope is that Goodwin has a very good recruitment record. this last summer was a great success for us, and while yes he signed Anthony Stewart at Aberdeen, he also signed Duk, Ramadani, Clarkson, Miovski, and Scales . then going to St Mirren, he brought in McGrath (who was good for them, regardless of how he was for us), Jonathan Obika, Jak Alnwick, Joe Shaughnessey, Marcus Fraser, Connor Ronan, Alex Gogic, Scott Tanser, Greg Kiltie and others I could name that have been good to great for St. Mirren.

Goodwin can pick a player out. What he needs to prove is whether he can actually coach a team at this level for a team of Dundee United's size.

You didn't answer the question.  How long have Bonnyrigg got, and why not give Buckie and EK and anyone else the same length of time?   This has been rushed in, fair play to EK for managing to get over the line.

Best guess, and We'll see what Buckie say in response, is that EK and Bonnyrigg have actually been communicating with the SPFL. While Buckie simply have not.

I hope to f**k there’s a name missing from the GTF list.

You know the fellow - hat with corks hanging from it, fragile wrists resembling a South-Asian crispy fried appetiser, perennially embarrassed look upon his face…?

OH HIM. knew there was someone transfermarkt had forgotten. Yeah he's out of contract next season. says here: https://www.dundeeunitedfc.co.uk/news/7386/MARK-BIRIGHITTI-JOINS-UNITED.html

How much of this squad is signed up for next season?

Loads of players out of contract:

    1. David Wotherspoon
    2. Louis Moult (apparently triggered an extension but nothing has been confirmed)
    3. Craig Sibbald (again triggered an extension but also again, nothing official yet)
    4. Kevin Holt
    5. Scott McMann
    6. Jack Walton (loan ends, also out of contract with Luton Town)
    7. Archie Meekison
    8. Ross Graham
    9. Declan Glass
    10. Sam McClelland (loan ends, loads of United fans want him in but I doubt St. Johnstone will let him go at an affordable price)
    11. Chris Mochrie
    12. Matthew Anim Cudjoe
    13. Sadat Anaku
    14. Alex Greive (loan ends, and may I never see him again. Shit Simon Murray)
    15. Jordan Tillson (loan ends, for some reason isn't listed at all on transfermarkt. not as bad as some United fans think he is but still not that good.)

So for next season we've got:

    1. Declan Gallagher
    2. Tony Watt
    3. Ross Docherty
    4. Liam Grimshaw
    5. Glenn Middleton
    6. Jack Newman
    7. Kai Fotheringham

If I've missed anyone it's because transfermarkt have missed them. A load of decisions to make for Goodwin in the next few months.

  6. If we go up I think Goodwin will be stay on. He's got another year on his deal for one thing, and I don't think Ogren will want to pay out his contract unless he NEEDS to (of course the issue with that logic is that any potential damage will likely be done by then).

Dundee were smart when appointing Bowyer by putting him on a rolling contract, which meant they could let go of him as they did. Personally, I would sack Goodwin regardless of how this season ends, but like I said I don't think Ogren will want to write that cheque.

  7. Brighton and Brentford are probably the two most well-run English clubs, at least of the small ones. I wouldn't mind the owners coming in but I do find it odd that they us as the Scottish team they would want to invest in considering our debt and current division. surely a team like... I don't know Kilmarnock? would be a better proposition right now.

Also, and whilst I'm far from sold on Goodwin, does last night put paid to the "Can't win the big games" stuff that gets trotted out in certain quarters?

Winning one big game does not mean that no.

there's plenty of evidence to show that he can't win big games where there's a lot of pressure on him.
