I get that FIFA are rotten to the core, but aren't they (nominally at least) vehemently opposed to any kind of political involvement in sport?

If WM are really planning on using legislation to stop this from happening, what's to stop FIFA withdrawing England's membership altogether?

Money. Fifa are vehemently opposed to any political interference that risks them losing even a sliver of their wedge.

If said interference can help Fifa keep hold of their lovely cash they'll undoubtedly, wholeheartedly, support it.

I actually think a UEFA super league is inevitable unfortunately but it should be played instead of the domestic league and 100% not a closed shop.

Personally if I was going to draw one up in future I’d go for something like this.

    ESL 1 - 20 Clubs (3 relegation spots)
    ESL 2 - 20 Clubs (4 relegation spots)

Below would be the leagues of the Individual countries. Each season the Champions of each nation would complete in a knock out tournament (like the old European Cup) with the final 4 being promoted to ESL 2.

Far from perfect and probably full of holes but at least it’d give the big sides what they want while giving your Celtics, Ajax’s and Galatasaray or any other club for that matter a chance to move into it.

Are you allowing all 54 or 55 European leagues to compete for a place? Be some hell of an end of season tournament if so.

What happens when a few years down the line no English/Spanish/Italian teams have been relegated from the ESL2 back to their domestic leagues?

What happens if one season 3 English teams are relegated? Are championship clubs then denied promotion or do relegated esl clubs go to the bottom of their domestic pyramid?

Too many issues for it to work unless you start with a closed shop imo.

  3. Been laughing all day at the faux outrage from the various people/associations who are opposed to this. Fifa, uefa, la liga, epl etc have all sat back for years and allowed an untouchable elite to form. They've never given a single thought to integrity or fair play as long as the money flowed into their pockets too. Now that same elite have realised that Fifa et al are nothing but a drain on their finances and are set to cut them off, it's brilliant. Fifa have had a monopoly on football since day one and it's nice to see them getting fucked over by the very monsters they created.

You're right, others do see them as pish, they also had Jobby sleeves once. Purple is also the colour of a boaby end. (Another couple of Scottish words for your research entertainment!)

I don't think they are lame reasons at all.

If your bell end is that colour of purple you either need to get it checked by a doctor, or take the elastic band off. Either way do it asap before it falls off.

Hemin, fit ye sayin'?  I used to hate having to try and head goalies kicks.

    Corners... fine

    Crosses... fine

    Blocking shots... fine

But hoooooofs in the wind with some hoor clatterin' into the back of you, were by far the worst balls I had to deal with!

Yours, I coulda' bin professional if not for my lack of fitness, talent and application!

Hoofs were the bain of my footballing life.

Don't know what I hated the most. Either constantly being told to "at least challenge for the ball/make it difficult for them" then being moaned at when the guy 5 inches taller than me won the header, or getting all set, doing the wee "yes keeper" shout and jostling about with the opposition only for the keeper/defender to pillow foot it to the edge of the box or slice it out the park.

I have emailed the club letting them know my views too. Seems at least a few others are too.

    What we can you do?

Same, genuinely the first time I've felt strongly enough to do that too.

Feel sorry for the lady who's gonna go in on Monday morning to god knows how many rants like mine but hopefully the backlash will be enough to make them reconsider.

Would I be disappointed if Malky Mackay was Aberdeen manager based on his past comments and attitudes? Yes very much so.
Do I think Malky Mackay should never be a football manager again? No
Do I think people should be allowed the opportunity to change and show that they have developed as a person? Yes

I think by not letting people the chance to change you entrench people’s views. I thought Mackays comments were disgusting and I abhor the views within them. However, I did my dissertation on criminal punishment and the majority of my honours courses were in criminology, criminal justice etc on way to qualifying as a solicitor and my studies have made me very pro giving people a second chance. I totally understand why some people hold the view he shouldn’t be appointed, I sympathise with that view but I will always defend someone’s chance to move on and try to put their past behind them. If people think his past is too much for him to ever get a job again I think it’s a valid opinion to hold but I disagree.

I've no problem with giving people second chances but there are limits.

A banker convicted of fraud or money laundering won't get a second chance in the financial sector.

A doctor caught misusing prescription drugs won't get a second chance in the medical sector.

And a football manager who's shown themselves to be racist, homophobic, anti-Semitic and sexist shouldn't get a second chance in football.

We're talking about Pav now, the only thing on Earth that will bring all (sane) United fans together in these strange times.

I think we all know the managers position at Tannadice is a front for Tony Asghar to live his childhood dream of playing real life Championship Manager 99/00.

99/00 was a peasants game. 01/02 the true king of champman.
