  1. Congratulations to Dumbarton on winning the league last night. A tight league season with very little between the top 3 or 4 sides, same down at the bottom too.

I was a bit surprised that St Mungo beat Glasgow Harp and stopped Harp's late run for the title last night - fair play to them. Any reports from that game?

  2. Brilliant that the Scottish has returned after the write off of last year. Interesting to see how teams are after so long off. Straight to penalties & no replays might throw up one or two more surprises than usual in this year's competition too. Looking forward to it.

Onhank v Giffock & EKYM v Thorn look the pick of the first round ties in the west.

  3. It was good to see the new conferences posted tonight & with new times, there is always some excitement.

Not sure if this has been discussed lots or not but in 15/16 team conferences with only one up (subject to change of course) and no relegation, there are going to be far too many meaningless games for most teams, that is fact. Some teams will have nothing to play for other than professional pride from as early as October.

  4. If memory serves me correctly, Harestanes were involved in a hearing following a Scottish tie a good number of years ago. Again, not 100% on what happened and what the outcome was but I think both they and Bannockburn may have been turfed out following a rammy in a Scottish tie towards the later stages say 5/6 years ago?

Not linked to this case right enough but just reminiscing :) Can anyone remember the details?

  5. If Harestanes had of won the game would Laurieston have been able to lodge a complaint due to lack of flags? I don't know the answer but I doubt they would have seeing as it was the home team's error.

It appears that with no flags that this was a free hit for Harestanes and if they lost they knew they would be able to appeal.

Poor, but a lesson to be learned for all I suppose.

  6. Tommy Sloan, Johnny Miller & Darren Henderson are the most successful jnr managers over the last 10 years or so. For me, Tony sits somewhere close in behind them though. Good appointment.

Who is Tony taking to work alongside him?

Got a few older heads who know the league really well helping me take in games and keeping me in right direction and tbh they are brilliant as they take in loads of games every week without fail.

Good stuff mate. I'm sure the select job will go well. All the best.

Southside calling it a day and joining Giffnock in the Cale next season. Will that mean an additional team will be promoted to the Premier?

I think they might go for twelfth place down automatically & 11th place will play the playoff game? Sorry to see Southside go.

  9. Well done to the three teams in the major finals. Oban joining next year as well,so overall a good week for the league.

League will be the focus for most now, premier is open at the top.

Bottom 3 in the premier look a bit adrift but with games in hand there'll be a few teams looking over their shoulders. The next 4 or 5 weeks look sure to be good.

  10. Congratulations to Bannockburn, good to have league representation in first major final of the season.

I see Colville Park have announced new manager, it will be interesting to see what kind of squad he will be left to begin to work with over the summer.

  11. Good to see another midweek game on in the premier tonight,Colville 3 Harestanes 2. At this rate Colville should get into double figures of league games by the end of March

For those who can access a pitch, I've always thought playing a handful of midweek games under the lights during the season can make a difference come April, May & the lighter nights. Especially for those with extended runs in cups & pushing for the league.

  12. Looking forward to Colville v Bannockburn tomorrow, should be a good game. I fancy Harestanes to come through in their tie at Strath Uni.

St Pat's against Southside in the Premier looks good too, both on a good run by the look of it.

  13. Sore one for St Pat's. Lost the Cinema final at end of last season on penalties too. With their 100% record in the league though, surely they will fancy their chances of winning that this year, time will tell, long way to go.
