Absolutely this.
The Forfar lads getting very Old Firm on this cup considering they won it a year ago.
The birth of Josh Skelly and all his goals. Lest we forget lads.
The legend of pre season Skelly will never die.

The Golf Day wouldn’t interest me (I don’t know which end of the bat to hold) but it’s a fund raiser for the club, one of a few. Do you actually believe your season ticket money and buying a bridie at half time pays the players’ wages, expenses and signing on fees? Waken up, it’s a small club run largely by volunteers, no big sponsors and no rich backers. These constant moans about golf days by you and others are getting beyond boring.
If it pays for McKinnon going out the door, I'm all for it.

Aye, let's call it what it is, competitive, well paid friendlies.

Even when the Welsh and Irish teams were invited they were usually decided on some sporting criteria rather than picked. Even if it was the old Intertoto Cup idea of the highest placed team that wanted it, got it.
I think Albion get in for another season as a recently relegated L2 team.
That reduces the complaint.

What an absolute gang the spfl are.......ran by donkey Doncaster and the infirm.
Won't be attending anything to do with said competition, they can ram it.
I see Linlithgow and Tranent have weighed in now,2 good guys .
I can get where linlithgow and Tranent are coming from, but would they have complained if it had been Welsh and Irish teams again?
Given the teams that have been invited, I'd be stunned if the extra money that's being trumpeted turns them into contenders.
Again, if they binned the B teams and didn't use those invites to invite the top half HL and LL teams, that would be a disgrace.

Unless it's written into the rules of the competition, the organisers can invite whoever they want.
Frankly, binning the b teams is much more important than whatever non league side is invited into a league competition.

Regardless of whose complaining, still doesn’t take away the fact that it is a farcical decision by the SPFL.
The SPFL set out on this course when they invited non Scots and B teams in. Lowland League clubs can't complain about that, because they sold their soul to them.
Reap what you sow.

It's a shambles of a tournament, zero surprise they are making it up as they go along.

I see that the laddie warnock was released by Killie. Will doubtless end up higher up the chain, but was by far the more impressive out of he and Brindley when they were here on loan.

Either of the first 2. Though the mint kit might make that difficult? Not enough of a difference?

They were promoted on their best supported club in league 2 performance no?
Their commitment to not improving facilities probably made it automatic promotion.

I'm new to adding any comments to these chats even though am addament reader of pie & bovril.. I have not read all the chat so forgive me if what am about to say has been says and don't take offence to this opinion. But having played and coached in the lowland league a think alot of comments are abiit negative. Some of these club owners put alot of money and resources to try and get promotion knowing that chances of promotion are very very slim. A know a former spfl clubs budget one season was the same as the top sides in league 1 that season and they didn't get near promotion.. why can't we offer a better pathway for these clubs who show more ambition than some of the spfl teams. The proof has been showing in the teams who have come up they have all went up division other than Spartans who were a bawhair away from going up. The reason LL accepted "B" teams was they got dangled a carrot that was too good to turn down. A personally don't see issue of letting B teams into league cause evidence hss shown so far that they have done ok in LL but nothing else.. I would personally change whole set uo of scottish football but make league 2 a 22 team league.. I would reply this in another chat but make 2x proffesional leagues at top of maybe 14 and a 12. Leaving 16 from current set up winners of LL and HL and bring in 4x b teams and make them pay initial fee to play In league and if they get promoted to go no higher than next league up. They are not allowed in the cup comps. Then end of season 4 teams to be relegated to z regions based on their locations and introduce playoffs through HL and LL... what you think?
When did Bonnyrigg get promoted fron league 2?

Good players have bad seasons, especially when the manager doesn't have the team playing how they should be.
Criticising any of our attacking midfielders/wingers doesn't make too much sense considering we all agree they weren't getting the ball much and being forced to play a certain way/take up certain positions.
If we had actually used our wingers properly last season we would have been in a much better position and scored much more goals.
As I clearly intimated, they haven't been good. I did not say they lack the potential to be good.

I find the question most in my mind about this is "will those who replace them be as good?" Which is damning considering the majority opinion is that in large part those who have/will leave haven't actually been good.

The introduction of the B Teams (along with NI and Welsh teams that season) was a decision taken by the SPFL board, it didn't go to a vote of the whole SPFL.
Facts have no place in this debate. The LL fan boys will not allow it.

The Challenge Cup is an SPFL competition, includes a dozen B/Colt teams, has done since 2016, and is levels above tier 5 part time Lowland League.
Two B teams in the LL who cannot be promoted is not a massive issue to SPFL clubs.
So why are you crying then?

No replies to that so I assume that everyone is happy with the Board, the Management, the style of play etc. It's going to be very quiet on the terracing. Yes I know you have to have a few shares to vote but ........

He really is a top guy but most folk judge him on his open goal persona ie the normal Scottish attitude, somebody is doing well then they must be a dick
You are criticising people for judging him on how he portrays himself. Interesting.

Eagerly anticipating the LL fan boy conspiracy theorists telling us that it's an SPFL plot to keep them down.
