The flip side is we have just come off of 5 straight home games, 2 of them were Scottish ties. We were supposed to be away in the league to Neilston on 5th October, but ended up playing Cambuslang at home due to Neilston drawing a Scottish tie, and our away match at Craigmark on Saturday was also off due to us playing in the Scottish. An away league match at Dalry was off.

At the moment our next scheduled home match is on December 21st, although we might get lucky and get another home Scottish draw.

Edit: Just had a look and found that we have now been sceduled to play Blantyre Vics at home on December 7th, to replace the Cambuslang game that was brought forward a few weeks ago.

Shocked to see Petershill in the league position that there in. What's been happening there this season?

Starting to come into that time of year where weather will play a big part on fixtures & I’m trying to plan what game I’ll take in. Anybody have any concerns of their games being off or know for certain if it will be on?

Our next 3 league fixtures are away from home along with an away West tie. If we get an away draw in the Scottish then we will be away for all 5 Saturdays in November. It will be a case of wait and see if our games are on.

That’s some run of fixtures away from home

  3. Not a Girvan fan but I think that the club need to stick with the current manager, there going through an unprecedented state of affairs with injuries and when you look back through the results they have beaten some teams in the league convincingly, 1 of whom is in the top three. Can’t help but feel that when they have access to their players things are going to be on the up for the club.

    Peter Leonard ex Whittlets/Girvan manager

I heard this is the reason that Peter left Whitletts. I think it will be a good appointment. Has Premier League experience with both Girvan & Cumnock and been in the game a vast number of years.

  5. I’ve heard rumours that Darvel have already lined up a shortlist of managers including Paul Cameron (already at the club & apparently has an interest in managing), Greg Gallagher (well documented the great job he did at Craigmark & played with a number of the boys now at Darvel) & Scott Clelland (previously been manager of the club & let the lm into this division by winning the previous ADL a couple of seasons ago) to take the reigns until the end of the season where a decision will be made for the future of the club & the committee hoping to bring in current Rossvale manager Gordon Moffat.

Any truth that Peter Leonard could be in for the job or  Gallagher

No, Paddy Cleland is taking the team in the meantime, and id imagine if he does awrite then id be more than happy for him to carry on

Would be good to see Scott get another shot. Did well at Darvel, didn’t have the best of time at Girvan then wasn’t given a chance at Lugar. Seems sensible to promote from within to carry on continuity.

Can’t see Peter going for it & if he did I imagine it would be to fill time as I believe he views himself as a manager for Premier League team s now.

Greg Gallagher could be a good appointment, still young but has a really good record & worked wonders at Craigmark.

Either way Whitletts is a very well run club & I think they’ll be in safe hands.

Unfortunately for Greg and his back room team it is true. Astonishing doesn’t cover it, no wonder the club are quiet on the subject.
He had Craigmark at a level way beyond their means and are still looking at a good first season up there.
    What now for them .

Given the job that he’d done I’d be surprised if he wasn’t back involved with a club very soon. I expect he’ll have a few offers/enquiries.

I heard that they had been asked to leave after yesterday's match. If true, can't understand it, given that they are in the last 16 of the Scottish for the first time in ages.

    Surely not!?!

i only said the other week that they were a surprise this year as to how well they were doing as everyone (including myself) had them as automatic relegation candidates & written off by Christmas.

Clearly a league promotion to the Championship, outwith the relegation places, still in the WoS Cup & last 16 of the Scottish Cup with a club that has next to no money quite clearly isn’t good enough in modern day football.

Has there been any statement from the club?

Also credit to both teams for playing some decent football on a pitch that was starting get pretty heavy by the end of the game.
As you said definitely a game of 2 halves and some outstanding saves from Vics GK.
A very valuable 3 points for the Vics.
If Craigmark start taking their chances I can see them taking points off a few teams though.

Highlights definitely made it an interesting view for a neutral, I've said before that if Craigmark can get someone to put the ball in the net then they could trouble most teams in the league. I don't think they'd be challenging for promotion by any means but could be a comfortable mid table side................ if they could put the ball in the net. It's not even as if their not creating chances, just terrible misses.

Also note that's yet ANOTHER penalty miss.

  10. Would it not be beneficial for the progression of Scottish football as a whole if their was the pathway in place from junior to League 2, as the English conference does.

i do feel that the professional structure is all wrong in its current model. No need for as many divisions as there is.
