I was under the impression that the Hursts were brothers as well, must have got that idea from somewhere.
Just read on website that old stalwart Jake Young is still going strong at 82 years old. What a defensive partnership he had with Jim Walker. Would not have fancied playing against them.

Just watched Paul McManus knock in 2 goals for Cove Rangers. Probably could have done a job for us in the past season.

It won't be a big fee but we should definitely hold out for enough that would be a decent enough compensation to reinvest in the squad. I'd be extremely disappointed if we didn't. Pagey doesn't seem the type to sit out a season in the huff. He'll know himself that getting on with it and having a good season will mean he'll have options at the end of it.
If it is Airdrie who are after him, there's also the issue that we'd be strengthening one of our rivals next season for no cost to them.

I have read posts about Page costing money to leave EF. Don't be so sure??????? If he doesn't want to stay will a manager keep an unhappy player? Pagey would not have been let go cos it would cost the club but if he wants to go then what!!!!!!! Watch this space.
Whilst it would be great to keep Duggan, I have a feeling he is after full time football. Can't blame him for that.
Overall looks like a complete new team which will test the managers ability to attract players and test the supporters ability to trust him to do it.

I am surprised Ryan Goodfellow lasted 3 years as well. In my opinion he was not any worse than any other goalkeeper that we had on loan by any means yet Ryan always had to give way to them. He was always there to call upon and generally did well.
Good luck to you Ryan and I hope you get fixed up with a team soon.

Reading all the posts, I agree that the football played at times this season has not been good, in fact we were probably fortunate to get some of the points that we did collect ie from Alloa, Arbroath, Airdrie to name but a few BUT football is in my veins, East Fife are my team and have been for decades. This will not change. Much has been said about long time fans not renewing season tickets but that is not for me. I will be buying my season ticket and can only hope that the product is better this coming season. The alternative of staying away can only be to the detriment of MY team.

Can anyone make any sense of this:. Raith 0 points out of 9; Ayr 0 points out of 9; Forfar 3 points out of 12; Queens Park 0 points out of 9; but thank goodness for the A teams (apart from Ayr) ie Airdrie 10 points out of 12; Alloa 9 points out of 12; Arbroath 7 points out of 9 and Albion Rovers 6 points out of 9. If it wasn't for these A teams we would be well and truly F-----.

A disgraceful performance from East Fife, poor gamesmanship ie diving, feigning injury, time wasting from Brora and a totally inept team of officials led to a slightly deserved win for Brora. A strong referee and an opposing team showing determination and effort and Brora will be found out but they should enjoy their moment.

Not even on the bench in Tuesday, but IIRC we only had him till January!!!Piggot was jogging round the pitch with the physio while the others warmed up for the game on Tuesday. I also thought that he was on loan until January though.

Can't see Gregg Hurst ever getting to first team level with his parent team. Has scored a few goals (maybe 4 I think) but not a lot comes from him. He is fast but huffs and puffs without much happening. Wouldn't be upset to see his loan ended.
Mark Hurst is going through a bad patch just now and has been dropped. He is likely to pull off a first class save but not look like on clever a few minutes later. For his height, I would be looking for him to command his 6 yard box but doesn't in my opinion.
This is my own opinion and perhaps the players around them aren't helping but I don't see either of them making the grade.

I would like to see a big commanding goalkeeper who was good on crosses into the 6 yard box, a tall no nonsense centre half and a tall bustling centre forward. That's all.

Well, here we are again following another defeat. To all the people who have been talking of a play-off place, are you sure you are talking about the right end of the league. Let's have a reality check. We are now seventh, conceded 35 goals, minus 7 of a goal difference, the 3 teams below us have kicked our a**e some twice, of the points we have picked up only Forfar, Arbroath and Airdrie at home didn't require a massive slice of luck to get the 3 points. We can't seem to defend set pieces or score from our own corners??
The next 2 games, Arbroath away and Raith at home, expected points zero. We have played well at times as last weeks first half against Ayr but not nearly often enough.
We are well and truly in the s**t.
