  1. Went and checked the squad page on the website for whatever reason, and noticed the exodus of ooc players. O’Donnell and Mugabi not on there now but Slattery is. And with the news story yesterday that Slattery has signed a new deal, it makes sense, but are we also now to take it the other 2 have rejected deals? Also for those of a number polis persuasion, it seems Moses has switched to #21.

  2. Thought overall we looked much more like a team. Have liked O’Donnell much more at RCB but honestly thought he looked quite decent at RWB in the second half when defending wasn’t really a thing we had to do. (Although seemingly everything time there’s a question asked of our defence we crumble and someone inexplicably has to make a calamity of errors anyway.) SODs got forward well a couple of times and provided an option. Gent looked class against Alloa and the ball in that went out for a throw was great, however I thought he was honestly really poor defensively again and the St Johnstone right hand side got passed him way too easily, leaving McGinn to try and mop up. McGinn looked his usual 7/10 and thought he was generally excellent overall, Butcher is looking better with more minutes but it was almost too causal at times, and Mugabi managed to not piss a game away so that’ll do.

Halliday and Davor were largely fine? Composed and tidy enough and ticked things along fairly well without anything really remarkable. Paton had great wee spells and thought some of his runs and passes were great but christ he should have had a double today. Got into great positions and it was such a lovely ball from Nicholson for that last chance and he somehow didn’t test the keeper in either occasion. Was interesting seeing him walk over at the end with hands up and gesturing “1,” he knows he should’ve done miles better. Spittal continues to be our only consistent actual threat, and an injury to him would have me fearing the absolute worst but even, like during the Alloa game, where he puts in a series of pish deliveries from set pieces or a couple of slack through balls, he always seems capable of creating something, and I really do hope he stays.

Another very welcome goal for Bair but we seriously need some forward reinforcements quickly. Nicholson looked like he had something to offer coming on but it’s clear he’s needing a while to get anywhere near up to speed. Would still hope for 2 forwards and a CB, especially is Casey is still a bit further away. Definitely a bit more hope after today with our threadbare squad but we need some help urgently. Hopefully get some ITKMarv input soon or the bold “Tommo,” sniffing about Uppercrisy, Tim Hortons or the car park for the latest scoops, but we need a couple quality additions.

  3. Aye from being at both games? We stuck with the 532/352 for the entire duration. In Elgin we started with Blaney, Mugabi and O’Donnell as the back 3 with Ross on the right and Wilson on the left. QotS we had Lamie, Mugabi and McGinn in the middle, with O’Donnell on the right and Souare on the left. The midfield remained unchanged, Spittal on the left, Slattery on the right with Miller sitting a bit deeper in the role Goss played in for the last few months of the season. Obika up top with either Wilkinson or Ferrie.

On the Lamie/Mugabi stuff, I thought they were genuinely as bad as each other and were beyond woeful. Despite the rest of the backline not having the best of games? They were made to look far worse by receiving horrid passes from the calamity couple, and playing out from the back with them looked like it put the the entire team on edge. Normally very calm about things but genuinely never want to see either of them play for us again. Beyond frustrating

  4. I can understand the panic around the centre half situation, especially with Ojala going. Sure from a numbers standpoint, but also just because in the grand scheme of things, Sol, Lamie and Mugabi are… fine?…ish? Far from a mad desperate panic though. Think the priority still very much has to be on a striker since if Kev gets injured, enjoys his customary suspension or just goes through an expected half-arsed shite spell, we are relying on Shields or Efford to muddle through games and that will be woeful.

overall the squad still needs a dedicated #9, a centre half in the Aldred mould, (or you know, just like a good one?… or two, no biggie) and preferably a CDM in the Ally Gorrin mould. Sure hope we can still do some business after the window SLAMS SHUT but all in all, meh

"Also in Scotland, some players will wait until the end of pre-season and realise that they aren’t first choice at their clubs. That might push people so sometimes it is a waiting game and you need to be ready to pounce."

    🤔

"can't wait to see you in a few weeks 👀" indeed?

As soon as I read it I thought about Jordan Roberts, with a tepid shrug. Then became completely and maddeningly overexcited about the prospect that this was a not-so-veiled indicator that there’s still a chance that Operation “Launch Ricki Lamie And Robbie Crawford Into The Sun,” is still feasible.

  6. Genuinely feel like if Maguire was an English kid signed from Northampton he’d have been punted by now. Totally understand it’s very early season but feel like he’s so below what we need. Even Donnelly with taped knees and zero fitness has played much better so far.

Also agree with the shouts on Dear Toby. Both games he’s played he’s looked incredibly off it whereas last season when he played he seemed largely *ok*

Definitely hoping for 2 centre backs, 2 centre mids and someone to help take some of the pressure of Van Veen, feel like we’re v over reliant on him “making things happen” for us

  7. Nah I’m all aboard the bring back Moult bus. After having a year of meh, apathy, and a squad lacking an *identity* or *character* I suggest full on nostalgia. Moult and Cole can lead the line in a 352 thunderdome reincarnation. Break the bank and get Kipre and Aldred back and even see if Carl McHugh fancies a couple more concussions. The last few years of trying “forwards” as wingers has soured the 433 and the heady days of watching gboly skin folk for fun before rocketing shots into the stands.

Some form of P&B Hells Kitchen, where Motherwell fans have the role of Gordon Ramsey, and a selection of fans from other clubs are the contestants.

Just @YassinMoutaouakil in a chef’s jacket blasting Hibs fans about wanky chippies and slandering the good name of the Killie Pie while @capt_oats runs around as head waiter feeding the relentless horde of Michelin quality reviewers that are Fir Park’s finest. I’m sold.

A good quality tomato with salt is an absolute treat that I've only really started to fully appreciate recently. J. Kenji Lopez-Alt's argument that tomato is the main ingredient in a BLT was an eye opener for me.

So here I was just enjoying my time watching as the MFC thread on here ascended to the wonderful heady heights of local food review and general munch chat. The inclusion of J. Kenji Lopez-Alt getting thrown in the mix really makes me believe we have ascended to like academia level of culinary mastery. Really excited for the MFC a thread for all seasons cooking show to be released so we can educate the masses about our superior knowledge,
