Happy with this. From what I know of him he’s a more defensive minded full-back to a player such as Robson. Much as Doyle was a grafter, Naismith is undoubtedly an upgrade. A positive to see he has plenty of experience at this level before and of course there’s that existing Owen Coyle link.

I very much echo the sentiments about the drip drip of signings (especially in the ‘apprentice’ category). Get it’s nice for these lads and their families to see their names and stories here, but honestly a bit frustrating for fans. Admittedly I don’t imagine there will be many more. Hopefully we’ll have the frequency of updates on senior ‘core’ players intensifying tomorrow as pre-season begins. If anyone’s got a spare half hour, get down to Lochinch. See what you can see…..

Fox 2 year contract tomorrow please :))

  2. First half Airdrie started pretty strong and it looked like it wasn’t going to be an easy watch. I thought we came into the game more however and probably ended the better side. Sunday’s game is a cup final- play like we did and limit Airdrie’s ability to play and there’s no reason why we can’t come away with a win.

It may have been down to the step up in level, but Quitongo has looked honking since he’s come back from injury. Form aside he didn’t really look fit at the start of the game. To his credit Ferrie has pulled out a couple decent stops in recent weeks, but his limitations to me suggest he can’t be our #1 keeper next season. Too many howlers/moments of madness.

    Bring on Sunday.

  3. I was recently at Morton v Kilmarnock and Imrie has Morton using the long throw whenever possible. It of course requires a striker/target who can hold the ball up or flick it on. Kilmarnock certainly clocked that Robbie Muirhead and Gozie Ugwu were Morton's real 'aerial' targets, and shut them down pretty effectively through using both legitimate means and the dark arts. Once the two of them were 'shut down' the long throws were a pretty moot point. Morton's LB Lewis Strapp has some long throw on him though.

With all the draws you've had this season , could you do a Brechin and go up by winning penalty kick success? Any game against Ayr would indeed be interesting as they have been erratic. You'd have to stop Mcinroy getting a late winner. Much as I don't like the 10 team leagues , the play offs have been a good innovation.( Despite our record).

Ayr with a habit of late winners/equalisers? That’s us f*cked then.

  5. You've got to wonder what prompted Fox to make the move up north, Bromley > Queen's Park isn't exactly a linear or common career progression. Admittedly i'm not 100% sure whether the National League is professional or semi-professional, but you'd have to think there would be a few other gems that we should be looking at from down there. I always remember the guy that came up to Dundee from Sutton United Roarie Deacon looked not stinking; bit tricky with the chance to beat a man.

We haven't yet seen how Beuker will then move in terms of his recruitment either. Interesting to see if we were to bring anyone in from the continent as per his contacts. Not sure whether work permits would be an issue for these guys though.

  6. A tough result to take, but as posters have already said: you see why Cove have scored so many late equalisers and winners this season, although when we sat back for the last 15-20 minutes and invite that pressure on, it’s always going to give Cove some encouragement to throw everything at us.

A world class goal from McHugh, three words I didn’t think I’d be saying in the same sentence at the start of the season. If it doesn’t earn Goal of the Season I’m not sure what will. I thought Fox, Connell, Smith and McHugh had very good games; good to see Lyon back in scrapping although there were some real sloppy passes, I imagine that’s maybe a lack of sharpness.

Some real ‘interesting’ refereeing decisions today; the Cove players had the referee in their back pockets and were ripping the piss out of it. Admittedly I thought it should’ve been a penalty to Cove, looked to have been a handball. Hopefully Neil’s hair will be okay for the next game, thoughts and prayers it wasn’t too disheveled today,

    Really.

A 31%-win ratio while hardly the stuff of champions, seems par for the course for teams who sit fourth in their leagues:

Hibs 30%, ICT 37% & Edin City 41%  - of course I could pick the loss ratio and argue we are would beaters:

Hibs 36% ICT 27% Edin City 39% and the mighty QP 13%!

Hold on, just wait till I work out our Draw-Ratio........

We are nowhere near being rubbish.

Behave, in what world is 2 points from 9 against East Fife and 3 from 12 against Alloa (with the resources and budgets we have) not rubbish?

  8. It’s been far from good enough all season. At least when we were an amateur side, you could clearly see the players giving their all.  I can count on one hand the players in this shower I’d be looking to keep on next year. Failing to appoint a manager has cost us. Beuker (by no fault of his own) clearly doesn’t have a clue how to whip this rabble into shape.

You can peddle the ‘us more mature fans remember when we were rank years back’ line, but with a change in the club’s circumstances and how much these personnel are being paid, expectations change.

  9. The training photos are an absolute pisstake. Are they training or just posing for photos?

Questions have to be asked; why has it taken so long to find a new manager? Why have we failed to sign a striker all season? Where is Baynham? With every passing game play-offs are looking unachievable.

You say unlucky, some might say the chance was on a plate for him to score.. And what about his penalty? That's the last two he's put wildly over the bar. I was more impressed with him when he came on second half on Saturday, his all round play was far better and he got some luck with the goalkeeping for his goal  but I'm not ready yet to join in the  love-in. I'll back the players 100% during the matches and encourage them at all times but I will say on here we still need much more from him. He came to the club with a reputation that he hasn't lived up to yet. We had small flashes of his ability last season with his goal at Annan and the Stennie home game but this really is the season for him to produce it.

Watching the highlights back, I reckon that's excellent goalkeeping first and foremost from Andrews. McHugh hits it well and you can see opts for power. Sure he couple have been more composed, but equally i reckon you'd see Murray do the exact same given current form.

I agree with you given his attacking record in the past, for chunks of last season it was like watching an empty jersey at times. If he keeps up his 'new' role though, i reckon there's every chance he'll have a more positive impact. Mind maybe take him off penalty duty though.

Secure PTFC areas are all for directors, officials and players etc. I just park in Firhill Road, so far so good. A Thistle fan warned against taking resident bays in side streets as they’ll double-park you in.

Mind Rangers are playing tonight. There’s roadworks on the M8 westbound side as well.

Cheers for the heads up, ended up parking near the Murano Student Village. Plenty spaces.

  12. I thought that was an odd game. 1st half we looked pretty comfortable and Fox looked good at the back as we grew into the game. Morrison still seems to be prone to a rash tackle, and I thought he was lucky to still be on the park by full-time. Until about the 70th minute I thought our possession was very good, and Liam Brown’s distribution is top class generally. Sloppiness in possession towards the end of the game really gifted them chances, and you can’t say Bonnyrigg’s goal was undeserved judging from how we switched off at key moments.

In attack i was really impressed by Bob McHugh, a completely different player to the one I watched last season, with some great flicks on and passes. He was unlucky not to score also.  We’re still too passive in possession though: I‘m glad to see we’re shooting from distance (Gillespie and Longridge very unlucky) but poor delivery on crosses meant we were fairly predictable I felt. Regardless, we’re in the hat and that’s what matters.

Good of the Groundsmen at Firhill to stick in Soap across the grass right enough.

Agreed but the tone of the announcement suggests it will be a good while before either of them are fit enough to play.

Definitely need to bring in at least one  centre half and a couple of wide players

Agreed. Remains to be seen how much Morrison can be relied upon at L1 level, but regardless of this i'd like to see another Centre Half, and cover in the Full Back areas. Interested to see who Ellis identifies anyway!

Sign Hester or is that too much of a gamble?

assuming Hester is part-time, he'll live in Inverness or Aberdeen. It's a big commitment to make anyway. Shame though, as he's clearly prolific for L2 level

First 45 we were really good second 45 we were under a bit of pressure...great to get the three points and also great to see the way the whole team celebrated. Looking forward to Tuesday then relaxing for the rest of the season.....reckon we will be bringing in 8 new players...exciting times to be a Queens Park supporter

Possibly a little early to be thinking about next season, but it's funny remembering that we still actually have 5 games left. It goes without saying of course that L1 will be a serious step-up and it all depends how high we're looking to ascend and how quickly. I reckon we've got a solid backbone, with guys like Muir, Grant/Kilday/Doyle, Gillespie, Carroll, Murray anyway. Any goings-out will be very interesting to see.

I'm a big fan of Craig Slater, but it's frustrating that he seemingly can't stay fit for more than 2 weeks in a row, it might be worth looking to replace him if this stays the case.

  16. Pretty humdrum game anyhow, of course these matches happen but what concerns me is the fact McKinnon didn't appear to see the need to change things up tactically even when it was clear we were having no joy. Does this show an overreliance on a Plan A?

Plus the insistence on trying to beat umpteen men before shooting is really doing my head in.

  17. Regardless of who put the ball in the net, the offside was given against whoever cut the ball back into the box.
Offside was given against Salim- who was in the box i believe and had absolute heehaw to do with the own goal tbh. Absolute stinker of a decision from the linesman.
  18. Best to buy in advance, a lot pf teams we've played in recent years have done mobile tickets or print at home. Keep an eye on the tamb forum or the Tartan Army facebook groups nearer the time as there's usually plenty on there buying for the home end and offer advice on how to buy.
Cheers mate you've been really helpful!
