With all due respect this woe is me bollocks really doesn't cut the mustard with me. I don't know you from Adam but if I've followed this thread correctly I've definitely got the measure of you. The above post is such a transparent attempt to garner sympathy that only the biggest simpletons would be lured in by it.
You state that you don't want to make excuses for youself then spend the next 5 paragraphs doing simply just that.  You're not sorry you committed the theft, you're sorry you got caught and are using every excuse you can think of to justify it.
Either genuinely want to improve as a person or get jog on with this lip service bollocks.

Thanks for the reply. It certainly wasn't intended to be a "woe me" post and posting on places I used to frequent a lot was actually the advice of the worker I was assigned. Your final point echoes mine though so that's exactly what I'm going to do. Cheers.
  2. Posted about this a bit in the Depression thread, but thought it best to clear up a few things on here. I deleted all my social media and such as its not the best place in the world to be when you're trying to fix yourself and get your shit together. I made this P&B account as a way of getting back online without the extra attention that I wasn't in the right place to deal with at the time. I understand if mods want to delete my account for this.

The last few years had been pretty tough to get through. Without going into too much detail I really struggled accepting certain things that happened in my childhood. That led to me making plenty of stupid decisions, culminating in the one that's been pretty well discussed here and on Twitter. Mental health issues may explain certain decisions I made, but it certainly doesn't excuse them and the last thing I want to do is come here and make excuses. There are none, and only I'm to blame for the choices I made in terms of what happened as well as not getting the proper help that I clearly needed before I did.

After everything that happened, my MH was at a pretty low ebb. I was then offered a place on a bartending and hospitality course run through Diageo as a way of making the first steps back into work or education. The course included multiple certificates to help you get into the trade, one of which was the Personal Licence certificate and subsequent local authority PL application which was rejected. As others stated, that doesn't impact my ability to get a job in the sector and I'm lucky to have found somewhere that is giving me a chance, but it simply stops me being named as a premises manager somewhere.

I understand that the labels thrown at me are ones I have to accept and deal with, and that I have nobody but myself to blame. However, I don't want to be a waster and throw away my life - and I want to make a positive future for myself rather than the bleak one I was facing having not addressed my issues. Part of the supervision order is focused on accepting what I did was wrong and making steps in the right direction, and addressing what happened here is important for me to do as Twitter/P&B etc was a fairly big part of my daily life before. I know better than most that I could come across on the internet as a proper bellend at times, and lets face it - that will probably never change. Only a handful of folk on here will have ever met me IRL, and I like to think I'm not as much of a douche as you might think.

To anyone I've hurt, upset or affected in any way that might be reading this - I'm sorry. Words are just words though, and it's my actions going forward that will be the true marker of whether I've changed, so that's what I'm off to work on some more.

    Peace.

  3. I've had a shite few years, culminating in making some pretty poor choices that really impacted on myself and more importantly others. Feeling like I had to lie to people about how I was feeling and that just spread like wildfire into other aspects of my life. Ended up being given a years supervision and that has helped push me up the list with counselling and other MH support which is helping address the issues from my past that made me do some of the things I did. The best thing I've done though is delete all my social media whilst I tried to piece my head back together because it can be a pretty unforgiving place at times, so using P&B is my first tentative steps back into the big bad world of the internet now things are starting to look up.

I used to come on here and read about others battles and even though I didn't post a lot of the stories and advice really helped make me feel less alone at the times I was feeling bleakest, so I wanted to say thank you and put a bit of my story out there too.

    Cheers.

First thing to say is, I'm not on the wind up.

I very rarely venture away from St Mirren matchday threads.

I've just seen the Steve Clarke interview on the BBC.  I'm just about old enough to remember him playing for us, back in the day.

He is magnificent.  What passion and belief in his team.

Good luck with the appeals.  Sounds like you were hard done by.

I love his sense of humour. The barely noticeable smirks when he said that McLean was "number one" or that his abilities are dwindling and maybe he's bitter because he's just been removed from the FIFA list was perfect.

'Biscuits' suggested his wee pal John Robertson for the Scotland job.

Was Derek Ferguson, but doesn't make the suggestion any less mental. But him and his wife decided out in the garden that Robbo is the best man so that's it settled as far as I'm concerned.

Looking forward to the usual cronies and boys lamenting the fall of their pal McLeish and wailing about how unfair it all is and that he deserved more time.

Thankfully Willie Miller's laments will hopefully be drowned out by Michael Stewart.

ETA - "McLeish should have been given at least one campaign to prove himself."

30 seconds later - "Listen I'm not here to put a case forward for Alex McLeish"

    Fucking hell.

As long as you're ok then to hell with everyone else, to a lot of people that's a fair bit of money, especially for people with families or taking families to the game.

Yup, it's the cost of the lower category league games at Rugby Park which they'd then get to attend.

You're just deflecting as usual though, so that's fine. Enjoy the game when it comes around.

Kilmarnock are trying to attract fans mate, not make it harder  for fans to go rugby park. Your idea will drive away fans/families with lower budgets, not what a 'family club' should be aiming for.

Killie have done this before and all that happens is that bears go in with the home fans, who needs segregation....

I've watched Rangers games at rugby park for years now, it's never been an issue getting a ticket. Just like it won't be to get a ticket for this one.

^^^ Worried because he doesn't have that extra £22 IMO.

However, how exactly is making families (or fans in general) be outnumbered pre and post match and often intimidated by scummy behaviour something to be aimed for? That will drive families with young kids away more. All you have to do is look at our home attendances against the Old Firm teams to tell you that. The whole matchday experience as it currently is puts plenty off - I mean, its the only explanation because it certainly can't be because of our chances of picking up a result...

If it's a Killie fan who wants a ticket, the chances are they'll know a season ticket holder anyway. If they don't, then it's a simple solution as said fan is 99.9% likely to be attending at least one other game that season so wouldn't be out of pocket at all. The only people that it would hurt in the pocket is Rangers or Celtic fans that couldn't get one of the 4000 tickets available to them - which is btw, a lot more tickets than a lot of clubs in Scotland provide.

This shambles from the BBC, particularly the Killie and Rangers parts next to each other. Killie get panned for their record against the top 6 with a weird graph, then Rangers get reported as having a chance to "flex their muscles" after the split. The metric used for Killie is % of points won against the rest of the top 6 - 1) they have less games to win points against the top 6 by virtue of being in it and 2) their %age is higher than Rangers.

Absolutely zero surprise to see a huge upturn in stuff like this and the 'look how many folk watch Celtic and Rangers' piece after Stefan Bienkowski got himself a job at BBC Scotland.

A man who uses stats to cover up his chronic lack of Scottish football knowledge.

  10. PS I'd advocate for an even stricter policy. As soon as a club (lets be honest, it'll only effect two) has any level of misbehaviour at Rugby Park then away tickets are limited to affiliated supporters groups only for a minimum of two seasons. Those fans are then bused in and dropped at the ground, kept in for half an hour at full-time to allow home fans to leave safely, and then bused straight back out again.

If the two seasons go without any trouble, then ticket sales are allowed to be opened up to general sale again. Any trouble though, and an extra season is added to the ban.

That'll soon see right minded supporters keeping others in line.

Yeah, buying a ticket for home end will be impossible.

That's not really the point though, is it? It's not "impossible" to buy a ticket for any football match in the world - if someone wants it badly enough they'll get in. If I suddenly had a cerebral hemorrhage and decided that I wanted to sit in the Rangers end against Aberdeen then I'm pretty sure I could get a ticket without too much bother.

This is a great decision from the club, but it needs to be followed up and acted upon properly to make it as difficult as possible for Rangers and Celtic fans to get home end tickets for more meaningful games going forward. Make sales limited to either a season ticket holder, with a warning of your season ticket being taken away if you're caught buying for an OF fan. If you don't have a ST holder to buy a ticket with, then you have to join a ticket membership scheme with a fee of £22 that can be used for a ticket against a non-OF side later in the season.

A robust stewarding policy should be put in place too. Plenty of warnings beforehand that anyone suspected of being in the home end and supporting the visiting team will be ejected immediately. First sign of that (celebrating, wearing colours etc) and they're not only ejected but down nearly fifty quid for their trouble.

Nothing will stop some OF fans getting into the home ends, but making it as difficult (financially as well as logistically) for them is the only way to go.

I caught the first 20 minutes and had to switch off - not because if was at Tynecastle, there were good points being made by Hearts fans, Locke etc - but because of these two bams above.
They were discussing the stuff at Easter Road - they were both at the match where a bottle was launched at Sinclair - and Miller "couldnt believe that Hibs dont have CCTV good enough to catch this person" and Bonner " I couldnt believe Hibs didnt have CCTV in the area".
If they were moderately professional, moderately interested in their subject, they would know that Hibs (and Hearts) existing CCTV is very good, on a par with anything at any sports ground in Scotland, including Hampden - but it is not perfect.
What both clubs are installing now at huge expense will put them leaps and bounds ahead of anything anyone else has..................but of course, that doesnt feed their uninformed narrative.
Now I wouldnt mind listening to them if they were vaguely informed, but not to even know the subject they are pontificating on is unforgiveable.
And whoever authorises their contracts needs a coconut on the heid.

Near the end of this programme, while discussing who the panel thought would go through from the 2 semis...Pat Bonner actually asked this of host David Currie..."Do these games go to extra time and penalties David?"

David Currie also was suggesting that maybe Inverness' name was on the trophy this year because "Y'know I've looked at the run Inverness had and it's been pretty tough. Edinburgh City a draw but they're doing well, East Kilbride, Ross County in a derby Y'know..."

Listening to last nights Sportsound and had a laugh about how openly skewed their offering is for tonight.

Live from Tynecastle!!  All four semi finalists will be represented!

Aberdeen, ECWC winning captain and general Dons mouthpiece Willie Miller!

Celtic, 5th most appearances of ALL TIME - it's former goalkeeper and current stain on the airwaves Pat Bonner!

Hearts, Scottish Cup winning "club captain" and trademarked biggest jambo in Scotland Gary Locke!

Inverness........................................(who the f**k do we know from Inverness?!...quick!!!)..................John...Hughes?

Better than Mark Guidi on Superscoreboard admitting that newspapers just make up transfer rumours when it's quiet.

ETA or the previous night's Sportsound 'Championship Tuesday' which they spent more than the first 20 mins discussing non-Championship stuff.

Why has the Scotsman over the last few weeks turned into a badly formatted Buzzfeed page where you need to go through 14 pages of adverts to read their articles? The quicker they go out of business the better and I imagine it won’t be long.

So sad to see what's happened to the Scotsman's online output. They were one of the early adopters of website content, but instead of moving with the times their site has descended into a clickbait minefield that as you said is choked full adverts.

My adblocker picks up 38 ads on their sport homepage which is far too intrusive and IMO the wrong way to go about content monetisation in  2019.

I agree wit hyou but I dont think its fair to compare Grace to the Billy Boys. Far fairer to compare Grace to the singings of Jeruslem which I dont think anyone should be prosecuted for. Genuinley does anyone know why when the billy boys start up the police dont wade in? there is a particular line in the song which is horrifc and its regularly sung. I cant speak for the songs glorifying the rebels as Celtic havent played at EEP for some years and I dont know the words.

Should have made it clearer that I only used that as an example because it's songs that I actually enjoy but just don't think there's a place for at football grounds. Obviously a song that contains sectarian abuse e.g. should be punished in a far stronger way.

Going by your name is that Real or real?
What % of fans are offended by inappropriate singing?

You literally just used the word "inappropriate" to describe it FFS.

I e.g. may have ties with the Republic and be very sympathetic towards their plight. That doesn't mean however that songs glorifying the IRA or singing about the 1916 Easter rising should have any place in a Scottish football stadium. We should be trying to make attending football matches as enjoyable an experience as possible - not turning them into a place where they're taught potted history about another country. Plenty of supporters all over the world create atmosphere with reverting to the tactics employed by Rangers and Celtic fans.

  18. The police are just as complicit in this whole situation.

I actually think strict liability should be brought in, but the police calling for it so vociferously is nothing more than them passing the buck. As for the Ayr director worrying that fault will arrive at their door - correct, it will and it should. If you run a bar or a club e.g. its part of your licence that you can be held personally responsible for anything that happens on the premises. Why should it be any different for football clubs? They start working with stewards and staff to give them proper training on how to spot and report suspicious behaviour that has or could lead to issues; and they then start working closely with the police with regards to how they then deal with it. If the chances of points deductions, partial stadium closures or even, god forbid, Directors having to step down are on the table just watch how quickly the clubs buck their ideas up.

As for the sectarianism issue, we need a proactive approach. The next time Rangers or Celtic supporters start spewing their guff then you have the police wade in and arrest twenty folk in a go. Their details are then passed on to the clubs involved and they are banned from all future matches. That happens week, after week, after week until it either dies off completely or becomes such an isolated incident that its easier to pick out individuals. As it stands, folk that sing these songs do it knowing there's safety in numbers and that nothing will be done - if they start seeing large groups arrested and banned for it then eventually it will start to take effect. That would be very easy to achieve as well, there's always plenty of police and stewards in and around stands so time that they actually did something rather than just stand around, occasionally film, and then whine about it on Radio Scotland later.

I won't hold my breath though. Rangers and Celtic have no real intention of tackling the problem, in fact they play up to it massively. Police and politicians are the same. It gives them an easy way to distract from their many failings - "oh don't look at those statistics look over there! There's a football fan with a smokebomb!"
