    My only worry with Watkins is we used him to stretch the defence and play in the holes to make space for Wright and Hedges. A different game playing further back and having to be the focal point between defence and attack but he's obviously capable.

    So we'd be deliberately wasting time in bidding way below what we know another club would accept? There's not a chance they sell him to us for that amount. Therefore nothing to get excited about.

    We should be asking questions of the club. If there's an alternative to Boyle who's younger and has the potential to be a better player then it should be explored. Chucking seven figures at Hibs for a player in his peak may help us finish third this season but it's not going to kick us on a level.

    That, along with Dave constantly being tweeted and asked about Boyle. No. There's always that possibility. I don't think there is anyone here that wouldn't be excited to see Boyle line up for the Dons. Just not at an inflated rate on an inflated wage that then drives up the average wage of the squad.

    I don't see what the club have to gain by leaking a potential signing that isn't going to happen though?

    I've said earlier I'd happily have Boyle at Aberdeen but not at the fee it will likely take Hibs to sell him. There's no sell on value at his age and if his knee goes again then it's an expensive mistake. I agree with @coprolite it's likely his agent reminding teams down south there's a release clause for non Scottish teams.

    The chairman announced we would pay fees for young Scottish players with a view to selling them on for large figures. Paying 7 figures for a 28 year old who's had a few bad injuries in recent years goes against that policy. As good as he is I can't help but feel that fee could probably go towards two-three players who could make a massive difference.

    They've done a good job coaching Boyle. I'd give them McLennan for a year.

    Would I want Martin Boyle at Aberdeen - yes. Would I want the club to pay a significant fee - no. Would I enjoy the Hibee seethe as they continue to try and start a rivalry with Aberdeen - yes.

    There's several folk up here who say he's a Hearts fan but goes with 'Aberdeen fan' for obvious reasons. Whatever the truth he's obviously a Hibs fan at the moment. I can't see Aberdeen chucking out nonsense stories to appease fans after Raith. If we don't sign him up is just putting unnecessary pressure on themselves.

    Is this not what Hibs have been doing to St Johnstone? Can't see it happening regardless.

    The main reason I liked Greg Leigh was because he had that burst of pace and could fire in a cross. Unfortunately he wasn't great defensively or skillful enough to play further forward. Most of our crosses do seem to come from deep or we take too long to get the cross in.
