  1. Fairly sure I saw them play the Burns Bar in Falkirk. Bringing them back for a second gig was a bit optimistic. I don't remember them being total rubbish but the Burns Bar wasn't the right venue for heavy rock - too wee, low ceiling. I didn't return for the second gig. Actually just called a friend - agrees they were rubbish. Rab Noakes played a blinder of a set there.
  2. Albuquerque City Council have once again had to deny rumours that they are putting up statues of the characters Walter White and Jesse Pinkman of Breaking Bad. The Mayor said Albuquerque residents are more than happy with the life-size bronze sculptures of Wile E Coyote and The Roadrunner. He did however acknowledge that talks are at an advanced stage to commemorate Paddy McAloon for raising the profile of the City by mentioning it in his popular song, King of Rock & Roll.
  3. With Irvine and Eckerslie, Weir shows why he can be Manager of the Month. Two excellent signings which will really firm up the defence. I wonder if this will allow Jamie Bain a more roving role to feed Easton and Baird?
  4. I've just opened a bottle of Glen Garioch Founder's Reserve. A really smooth whisky - just a splash of water. Loads of vanilla. Best have another dram to make sure it is as good as the first glass.
  5. The Peloton advert with that "3 2 1 saddle" really annoys me. It's just an exercise bike.
  6. Johnny Marr regularly turns up to play his ukulele in a George Formby tribute at the Thursday open-mic night at The Unicorn Inn, Ambleside.
  7. Aye, the better together argument has been shown up to be total garbage. Not sure about "uncoerced" when you look at the scare stories and unrelenting doom headlines Scotland was subject to. Still, I'm sure we are all better informed for the upcoming indyref2.
  8. If Scotland had the power of an independent country we could be laughing from the sidelines like the rest of Europe.
  9. So much for the party of international solidarity. Now no different from the insular Tory party hell-bent on dragging us back to their idea of some Golden Age (that never existed). Labour will be remembered as a party of abstention clinging on to the coat-tails of a dying empire, hand in hand with the Tories. If remembered at all.
  10. For Northern Soul tune in to Solar Radio (Sky 0129) on Sundays 8-10pm for Eddy Edmonson's " A Taste of Soul". Great sounds from classic Northern Soul tunes from 70s up to now. Excellent stuff.
  11. The Imperial by The Delines. Doesn't make up for missing them playing at Celtic Connections right now but it's a cracker of an album.
  12. Really good team effort today. Wasn't sure about Eckersley in first half but excellent in second. Jamie Bain turned in a great shift. Defence were organised and shut down Arbroath although worried by the number of shots they managed. Still, McCallum had a couple of great saves. Not sure about his tactic of trying to find Tutties with his kick oots though.
  13. The late, great Helmut Schon, legendary German footballer and manager, is the father of the rock guitarist of Santana and Journey, Neal Schon.
  14. Good point. Ah, John Martyn. Missed out on tickets for the Grace & Danger tribute concert coming up. Mind you, did see him in concert lots of times. Right, off to play some Doll by Doll and JM. Cheers!
  15. Absolutely! Jackie's life wasn't easy but his musical legacy is huge. His solo work is incredible.
  16. "The genie's out of the bottle and there's no putting it back". Just wrong.
  17. Chris Law, the SNP MP, actually wanted to be a lawyer when he was younger. However, being very tall it wasn't long before a career in basketball beckoned. He was offered a trial with top US basketball team the New York Knicks but a fear of flying put paid to that dream.
  18. How are folks feeling about the Killie cup game? I think there's enough depth in the current team to put up a credible performance. Team spirit also seems good. Maybe with the winter shut down Killie will be less than sharp. Be nice if Baird and Easton pop in a goal or two but tbh I'll take goals from anybody!
  19. Houses that are given names. Allowances made for humorous ones obv.
