  1. Nae fitba do fishing for Talbot fans?

Given the imminent moves to pyramid its the right thing to do to award titles to those currently in top spots and withhold the Junior Cup.
Let me be the first to congratulate the Buffs - a worthy title win and Pollok as runners up.
  2. Only wins against full strength sides count then by your reckoning

It was 7 players affected on Wednesday, are people commenting aware that this figure may have risen to the extent, even with a squaud of 20 that Talbot are not able to field 11 players and any subs.Talbot are going for 3 in a row Scottish cups, something a lot of people say wouldnt be done again and would be Talbots most important game f the season yet some folk want Talbot to cobble a  team together when they have every right to follow the rules and ask for a  postponement.Would Hurlford not wish to beat Talbots strongest team possible, or happy to win playing against 55 year olds drafted into play.Think how hollow the team that lifts the cup would feel, if Talbot were knocked out today if the game went ahead.
  3. They had those symptoms on Wednesday. Why take the chance against rutherglen?

FFS sake does none of the Talbot haters actually watch the news or read papers??
Government telling folk if they have any symptoms of this virus to take no chances,,
So sjfa are following advice and postponing match after being informed that Talbot have player/players with issues.
Imagine the outcry if game went ahead and it turned out player had this virus,,,,
Would imagine midweek game could be postponed aswell...
  4. If a team with a squad of 20 or so had 7 ill and were due to play the Talbot and tried to get it called off Talbot fans would be spitting feathers demanding the game went ahead cos teams should all have brilliant squads and strength in depth like they do. Brass necks

  5. And I'm sure I read that Benburb get all bar takings and food sales from Rossvales home games plus the rental...
So this season, there first in the top flight since moving and having a tenant, they might start making a few bob and think about looking at getting some covered areas. 7months that's been happening n they should be millionaires
  6. Yes it has been and improvements are made at bellsdale EVERY year by volunteers giving up their time and helping improve the facilities at bellsdale.  And here lies my point New Tinto park has been open for 5 years  and nothing has been done to improve what us already there.
Which they've spent ground sharing and playing lower league fitba which makes it harder to attract a gate, gain sponsorship, put on events, get local businesses on board and making money therefor keeping a team on the park and the lights on at the club become the main priority id have thought might be wrong tho. Easy to gloat when yer winning and times are good won't always be that way tho
  7. All of those facilities achieved over decades of investment. Some of it obviously very recent. Give them a chance

You obviously have not been to Bellsdale for a few years.  New toilet blocks finished last year, also toilets in the bar area,  we have a bar, good food outlet with some of the best food in the juniors.  Disabled access is very easy at Bellsdale.  Plenty of parking in the areas around the park.  And one of the best playing surfaces in the division.  So what don’t we have that tinto Park has?  Not to mention unlike tinto Park we have three covered terraces which I would rather have than a seat in the pissing rain.
  8. Not built on a slope, jeezo that's original never heard that before you missed out we also have a Scottish cup 2 premier league titles and 2 west of Scotland cups in the last decade, your lot won't get any of them.
So you can slate other folks facilities but they can't question yours? What you've won in the last decade isn't the issue you raised in your original post
  9. They have decent parking, a nice bar, clean toilets, clean area serving food, disabled access, seating for supporters, decent playing surface plus it's not built on a slope.. Needs cover but I'm sure they're reminded of that on a weekly basis its hardly a joke of a place. You visited during a storm that might explain the numbers. Your lot don't have some of those things

  10. That's my point tho. All ye see on this platform is you don't have this/that etc.n I just did it to you to prove a point. Clubs are trying their best to try n achieve facilities within the means available to them bud and shouldn't be ridiculed or demeaned for not having/struggling to get them

    I always seek the alternatives!
Thing is though right now there is no incentive for any wealthy individuals to invest in the club. That can be done while remaining committee-ran through sponsorship etc.
I first went to Annan for a pre season game in early 00s. They had just demolished their wee bus shelter covered enclosure. So all there was there was the pavilion and social club. Nothing else apart from the nets and a railing. We were back a few years later for pre-season, just before they got into SPFL, and the smart 400 seater stand was complete. Paid for by a local investor. Now they have added floodlights, 4G surface and a covered enclosure behind the goal. Would any of that happened without a bit of looking up and attracting in the right people? In the absence of pots of cash handed out by the governing body, it's up to clubs to be creative and try to meet their customers' needs.
  11. I've no idea. Frankly I'm not really interested in that debate.

I'd say that there are some basic principles that any venue should have. I'm sure if they didn't, any health and safety representative would say their ground isnt fit for purpose.
(To be pedantic about it of course [emoji6]).

I get that some clubs wont have everything. I'd say the basic elements would be toilets and disabled access. Food and cover wouldn't mean a place couldn't open.
I'm not interested in it either but someone posted that point earlier. I agree with the rest of your post tho
  12. So if youre missing 1 or 2 of those do you have to charge less for seeing the same standard of game

Separate Male and female toilet facilities.

disabled access to all areas of the ground.

Some form of shelter from the elements.

    Appropriate parking facilities.

    Hot drinks and food served.

Nothing overly strenuous and things that every ground I think I have been to for a considerable number of years have had.

There will be varying levels of fancy but a flushing, clean toilet and a wee wooden structure to stand under with my pie and tea would do me.

Everything else over an above is licence level stuff and should only really include those clubs looking to get to tier 5.
  13. Absolute bollocks. Charging cash at the gate for most clubs bar a couple can keep a team on the park and the lights on but most clubs rely on fan events/sponsorship/selling merchandise/generosity of local business etc to raise funds for all the extras and not all clubs have access to sponsors/ fan base to achieve these revenues.
The things you see as just standard nowadays are well beyond some clubs and could take them under trying to achieve it instantly just because others demand they get it. Some clubs aren't far away and others are miles from it. The snobbery on this issue at a level where most clubs are run by volunteers is outrageous

  14. So if you're a club who has some of these things and are working towards/ trying to find funding for getting the rest you should let folk in for free?

Tbf, a lot of the requirements are essentially public comfort demands that ‘customers’ should expect in the western world in 2020. Shelter from the elements with seating opportunities, hygienic and covered toilets to suit everyone, wash facilities and food that meets health and safety standards.

Any club who’s not putting them in place (regardless of whether senior/junior or pyramid/licence or not) and charging folk for entry is bang out of order imo.

  15. You’re more than welcome to come to Meadow Park and have a look at our modern Male/female toilets in the stand, or perhaps our new disabled access toilet near the catering shop.

Or speaking of Shelter, there’s enough for 1000+ spectators on 3 sides of the ground. I’ll even donate a quid so you can get a cracking view of the game from the stand. [emoji3526]
I stand corrected. Meadow have been there for over a hundred years tho and continually make improvements when they have funds available. Clubs who've recently moved to new facilities and are investing in getting toilet facilities, social Clubs, covered enclosures, disabled access or whatever else is rewuired etc should be afforded patience and some time to put it in place due to the costs involved was my point tho
