  1. We’ve got into play offs several times so there is no evidence to say the board don’t want promotion. You could argue that if we had invested a bit more in January in these seasons there may have been a different outcome but no guarantee and might not have been fiscally prudent. As for crowds we certainly have a good fan base but pretty certain if we were bottom of first division we would be down to the hardcore 500 and at present we need 600 to break even so I would say they are legitimate concerns.
Any how that’s for another day we need to get ourselves into the promotion position first.

Of course they would be delighted with promotion- they are supporters also. I know they care about the club (hence their concerns) and do a great job- some of the board deserve promotion more so than anyone else.

All I am saying is, finishing 4th as a minimum should be the expectation/target...not merely staying up. Finishing 4th in a league of 10 is hardly punching above our weight given the size of our fanbase and settling for less/starting a season aiming for less is loser’s mentality and no one can convince me otherwise. Don’t want to merely exist in league 2 forever with the odd playoff finish...I’d take competing at the top of HL over that!

Anyway, pleased with how this season is going and they way we are playing just now...onwards and upwards (hopefully) [emoji106] big game tomorrow!
  2. I go into every season with survival as the base line. I personally feel they make as much money available for players as is prudently possible. The concern about bigger wages and smaller gates are valid concerns but do not see them as meaning the board do not want promotion. I have not seen any evidence to support this.

The evidence is that we get no where near promotion...

Why is survival the base line? By attendance, we are always one of the best supported teams in the league, regardless of how terrible we’ve been.

Top4 should be the minimum expectation every season, anything less is failure.
  3. Think play offs are best we can ask for. Cove too far ahead and better than us imo. Ditto Edinburgh although think we are as good as them.
I take it the comment about the board is tongue in cheek?

Yes, it is the best we can ask for, I don’t expect us to be anywhere near cove- but equally, lets be honest, anything less than 4th should be seen as failure.

Not completely tongue in cheek, no. I have heard the board (existing and former members) saying ‘survival’ is the target (i.e. there is zero ambition) and also they would be worried about having to increase wages etc to compete at league 1 but also potentially losing gate money as we could ‘get thrashed every week’ at that level. Total loser mentality, hence why we are where we are... and will remain for eternity.
  4. Well deserved for both! Have to admit, until recently, I wasn’t too convinced about Price as manager - last season was very disappointing(as per usual)!

Proof is in the pudding- Playoffs have to be the minimum target and if we keep up current form we may even sneak in the back door to league 1...the board will be worried sick, they dream of mid-table mediocrity [emoji23]

  5. 20 odd o us comin up next sat.

501pm train to Inverness would be preferred

Google maps say 18min walk. Can it be done less or if anyone has a local taxi number that would be ideal[emoji106]

You’ll struggle to make that train without leaving early if walking tbh. Even walking to high st and getting a taxi will be tight. What time is the train from inv? Why not just drown your sorrows in elgin for an other hour?
