  1. Great summing up every point. Said the other day can fans not remember how awful we were first quarter when the afore mentioned started and we were pumping long balls. Miller Robert's together even McKay we were playing football scoring goals top two and manger goes to clyde changes team drops Robert's been pish since.

I believe he has being playing with a niggling recurring injury.
  2. Agree I think we need a more attack minded midfielder a no 10 type,  not enough goals coming from midfield,  apart from MacKay,  Roberts in his role needs to score more or he could find a permanent home on the bench, Hope Ryan starts after all that's why we signed him....   After all the horse trading in the past few weeks and still to come,  I don't really see any change throughout the league, no team has really strengthened enough to push on,

I believe Roberts has a recurring injury that's why he is not playing.
  3. Going forward I'd rather have Kerr moved up to midfield and into Mackays slot. Now that Roy doesn't get a game he's very much the weak link plus in any decent size of park those long throws are not that effective.

I think Kerr has the ability to be a good midfield player and might be the solution.I thought a couple of years ago a similar player might do the same Sean Mcintosh but did not work out it is a different ball game moving to a move advanced position.
  4. I was one who thought he was decent.  Not a patch on leon McCann though.   His only problem is defending.  If someone runs at him he backs off and runs with him till hes on top of his keeper.  Decent going forward too though.   Eckersly is better than McDonald too and he cant get in our 1st 11 as leon is outstanding.

McCann was brilliant in first half but after he was booked I would have brought on Eckersley because I think the lad was frightened to tackle and think Falkirk targeted him.
  5. I had added thoughts to the match thread that I can't be bothered repeating, however, I will add this. Ally Roy shouldn't be starting again for us. He's had plenty of chances and opportunities and is getting to the stage now that he is effectively a man down when he plays. He's just completely ineffective in every way.

Mckay is not good enough either all he can do is throw a long ball which the other sides have done their homework on it and is not effective now. Please don't bring Wedderburn back he is even worse not many of the young reserve side look like breaking through need an experienced left sided midfield player on loan and big target man up front to keep promotion hopes alive.
  6. I wasn't even at the game today and I'm in a c**t of a mood. I was happy with the appointment of Murray and thought he did a good job last season of solidifying us and steadying the ship, especially considering the players he had to work with. I was looking forward to this season. Given that we were relatively solid last season and his reputation for building a team capable of attacking football at Dumbarton, I thought we might finally have the man to take us forward and get us out this league.
But my patience is gone. I'm pissed off that we play 5 at the back + two 'defensive' midfielders almost every week (in LEAGUE ONE) but yet we still can't defend. I'm pissed off that Murray still doesn't know his best team despite it being almost November. I'm pissed off at the amount of players that play out of position (especially our top goal scorer either playing out wide or being left on the bench). I'm pissed off that there's no balance to the team at all (especially in midfield) and as a result there's no link up play whatsoever from back-to-middle-to-front. I'm especially pissed off that none of these mistakes are being learned from every single week. I don't consider myself an expert on football but if I, and other fans, can spot these things, why can't the manager or the plethora of backroom staff spot them and/or fix them? I think the club has professionalised the set up off the field in a lot of ways over the close-season. Of course I support this, albeit with concerns about how we're paying for a full-time manager and assistant manager, a first team coach and goalie coach,  a reserve coach, scouts, half a dozen or so medial staff and a playing squad of almost 40 (it's not with our crowds I can tell you that and how long are you going to pump money into such a set-up for with so little to show for it?). At the end of the day, it's pointless if we're going to be bumping around League 1 forever. Get us up in amongst the bigger crowds in the Championship then move forward from there.
I'm not sure if getting rid of Murray is the sole answer or if there's just a general malaise/curse over the club but I certainly can't put up with much more of this anymore. I work almost every Saturday but have no motivation now to get the time off to watch us play. There's only so much of the same shit (10+ years) you can put up with every week. Sad.

I agree with everything you said I have enough supported the Diamonds for 65 years sad ending for a loyal supporter.

  7. Callum: "The chance to get to a quarter-final is all the incentive we need."

Honestly, how much pish does the players/manager need to talk. If I was them I wouldn’t be coming out with any semi positive quotes right now. Murray’s job has to keep us ‘in it’ until new year and then bring in 2-3 playmakers that can really push this team through until the playoffs. Even then I’m skeptical. This has to be a 2 year plan for Murray. Right now we are well off the pace and don’t look like Championship material at all

We have no width no wingers with Thomson injury and ORielly away back to St Johnstone. We should take a leaf out other teams that have been Promoted like Livingston big strong physical teams none of this crap playing out from the back when the players are not good enough and slow the game down
  8. Set up in the same way as we did yesterday and I'd be quietly confident about this one.  I'm a bit unsure if it's too early for us to see Bowie or Dingwall back on the bench but even then we've added a few bodies over the last month or so with Baird still to arrive too. Amazing what a difference a couple of weeks and a signing can do.
As for Airdrie, they've added some players who've always impressed against us. Eckersley is a class act and Callum Smith always seems to cause our defence difficulties. I noticed Wedderburn was dropped on Saturday, how's he been for you guys?

Wedderburn is a waste of a jersey I hope he is not playing on Saturday.
  9. This will be the first game of the season that I’ll miss, so we’ll probably put in a performance and come away with three points. I’d go:

    Hutton

    Fordyce - Crighton - Eckersley

    Thomson - McKay - Millar - McCann

    Carrick

    Gallagher - Smith

Probably a bit harsh leaving Kerr and McDonald out but I don’t think Eckersley can miss out on the starting eleven when fit, and we can’t persist to play Thomson at LWB.

Roberts for Mckay and agree about Josh Kerr who seems to recovered from one poor game and has was really aggressive last week.iI think he is a class act and hopefully he is important to the team.
  10. Roy seems a busted flush, head seems all over the place on the park.. Struggled badly to do the basics was alw ays  a high risk signing.....  Agree about Kerr and Crighton,  Kerr especially is attacking the ball more now which he didn't do at the start of the season...  Up front Smith and Seagal are working hard and getting there rewards now.    Big problem is a very onepaced safety first centre midfield pairing,   I personally think big nat and Cowan could be out best pairing,  Millar and McKay battle away with no real creativity,  The lad Reilly on loan from Accies is highly rated but never seen him yet.     Big decision for Murray next week does he start Eckersley or young McCann,  I personally don't think we can play both in the same team.

Big Nat is the worst midfielder we have we have not lost a game without him.Mckay has not let us down I would prefer Roberts for his aggression and is a better attacking option.I don't know anything about Reilly and think he played against us I think we could play both Eckersley and McCann on left side of midfield.
  11. I thought Bohemians played some nice stuff at times. Tried to take it down and pass it as opposed to our thump it long approach. Agree with Ammo that Roy was anonymous and that’s me being kind. He wants to watch Smith in particular his work rate and try to replicate it. The midfield is too slow and I think Roberts may have helped in there today with a wee bit more direct running from midfield. Bit unfair on Thompson asking him to defend as a wing back and the two goals conceded were down that side. It was right that Eckersley was brought on to shore up that side. Hey ho it’s a victory and still a lot of improvement required. Whens the draw for the next round?

I agree with you about Roy a terrible first touch and I would prefer Roberts in midfield in place of Mckay although he is better than Wedderburn I thought Crighton and Kerr were outstanding today.
  12. I’m confused by a couple of points you’ve made.
    1. You say the club hit us with propaganda every time we signed a player by saying they were good. Did you expect them to say they were shite or just bang average? Find me a club that doesn’t sign a player because they think they’ll be a good addition.
    2. You’re not shouting for Murray to be sacked, yet you’re ‘certain’ he isn’t the man to get us promoted? Slightly contradicting don’t you think? So You’ll back him even though you know he won’t get us promoted?
Murray is he best manager we’ve had in a long time and with Stuart Millar supporting him, I am confident we will do well this season. So we lost the first game. Wish we’d won but I’ve seen us play so much better before Saturday and I’m confident we will see a winning team soon.

I think Murray will be a good manager I still don't think he knows his best team or formation it takes at least 6 games for a new team to knit.
