Seen your team play a couple of times this year , on a bad run if results but genuinely dont think the table does your team justice . Well organised and try to play football the right way. I'm sure with a rub of the green you will start picking up positive results.

Thanks mate appreciate that. Really young side so expect mistakes and inconsistencies at times but been an unforgiving campaign at times with how some games have went.

Struggled for goals as well which hasn't helped but not an easy thing to find a goalscorer.

  2. Netherton 1-2 Bargeddie

Game of two halfs at the weekend for us and probably summed up our first season as a club.

Shaky first 5/10 minutes with our goalkeeper making some excellent saves before we took control and dominated the first half taking the lead with a 30+ yard free kick into the top corner. Failed to add to our lead and got punished for it 2nd half. Conceded from a corner after 3 or 4 chances to clear our lines then Bargeddie won it with a great strike from about 20 yards which ended up hitting the post then our keeper then the bar before bouncing in. Had chances in 2nd half but nothing really clear cut and our keeper had 2 or 3 outrageous saves to keep us in it. Bargeddie got a late red card but never really looked like testing them at the end.

Frustrating as f**k because 1st half showed what we are capable of performance wise but 2nd half nowhere near good enough from us.

  3. Back to league action tomorrow. We wrapped up 2019 with a 3-1 defeat to Holytown. Really good performance for first hour then lost a goal and a man within a couple of minutes each other and never really recovered from it.

4-0 win over Newmains United at the weekend to set us up for a home league game with Bargeddie who we look for revenge over after a terrible performance and 2nd half capitulation against them in August.

  4. Netherton 0-5 Holytown.

Not there at the weekend. Apparently started fairly brightly and had a goal ruled out for a tight offside at 1-0 before capitulation as soon as it went 2-0.

Two games in a row it's happened now nowhere near good enough.

Same opponent this weekend in the league.

  5. Moorlands 6-1 Netherton.

Terrible all over the park from us on Saturday. Only positive was the quality of our goal and getting one of our players minutes in his first competitive game in 18 months following injury.

Moorlands to their credit were very good but didn't have to put much fight up for their goals and the result.

Tough one for us this weekend as we host Southpark.

Good to see Netherton finding their feet quite quickly in comparison with other new teams from North Lanarkshire in the past few seasons. Cleland and Newmains taking a season or so to find their way, taking 6, 7 and 8 nil pastings every week, but that doesn’t seem to be the case with Netherton.
Perhaps the folk running them have learned due to the involvement with founding other teams. Good to see.

Have UB got back on track? Seen they were really toiling pre season (as a lot of teams do). Good news if they have.

Played Cleland in pre-season and difference from starting is night and day good to see them promoted in their first season in GDSML last season club ran by good guys and easy to throw in towel if things don't start well.

Newmains seem to settling well after moving also again hope it works out well enjoyed my time there and seems they finally have a settled management team and squad in place to allow them to build going forward.

For us we are more than happy with how things are progressing there is a lot to work on and further aspirations but it will take time as we are hoping that will be done with the group we currently have building and improving together. Really good group of guys and with them all being 19-26 there is plenty of growth to do something long term as a club I feel.

  7. Netherton 2-2 Kirkintilloch Rob Roy.

Shot ourselves in the foot big time. Came back from 1-0 down then sat off too much to hold the lead and didn't impose ourselves enough especially when Rob Roy went down to 10. Barring first 5 minutes and last 10 a very good performance from us but need it to be lasting the full 90. Much improved from the reversal a few weeks ago but feels like a defeat in all honesty.

From our last 6 games excluding the majors we're now onto 4 wins (one on pens) a draw and a defeat so definitely improvements hopefully continue to improve throughout our first season.

  8. Recent results for us were

Bridgeton 0-2 Netherton and Kirky Rob Roy 3-0 Netherton

Bridgeton game unfortunately lost the points as it's been approved for them to drop into development league. Saturdays defeat by all accounts we played well first half hour then after going a goal behind never really got going again.

Hopefully put it right Saturday away to Port United in Strathclyde cup

  9. Just joined the league as a new club this summer but having been involved in it the previous 2 seasons with Newmains Hammers as well would agree on comments re: Saturday morning football. Basically all done for lunchtime then got the full weekend to yourself and would say it opens up more players to potentially sign that go and watch their respective senior sides on an afternoon.

On our own side would say it will be a season of finding our feet. Young squad and even some of the 'older' players have little to no amateur experience. First 3 points picked up at the weekend and really unfortunate to miss out on a semi-final place to Tynecastle a few weeks back but still plenty work to be done on and off the field.

Can't comment for a lot of the new sides as haven't seen them yet but from own experience would agree I can't see past Nicos winning our division hopefully we can start to climb up and get a good finishing position to build on going forward though.

Standard wise would say it's a lot better than maybe some involved in afternoon football would believe but think those misconceptions are dying off a bit especially with UB making West final a couple years ago.
