  1. The problem isn't really the size of the squad but the lack of balance in how that squad is made up. In the second half of the season we have had 8 attacking midfielder/wingers vying for 3 places in the team but only 1 natural centre forward and just 2 holding midfielders. Not adding a 3rd real centre mid in January was a big mistake as we have asked way too much from Boateng and Thomson who both look a little tired now.

  2. A deserved 3 points in the end but a bit of an up and down performance. Murray, Thomas and Kilday had very good games but Boateng and Thomson struggled to get a hold of the midfield and Davidson was exposed defensively a few times. A great start overall though and another exciting game to look forward to at Dundee next week.

Sorry to pick on your post Tangled Web (there’s been many like it) but this “that’s professional football for you” myth needs busted. There’s loads of professional players who spend most of their career at one or two clubs. Every season as amateurs we bussed in players and bussed out just as many. Few were around for more than two seasons.

People who keep jumping ship either have a lack of integrity or keep moving before they get found out. Being professional isn’t a reason. Might be a factor but not the reason. And as your last comment implies, the set-up at QP now should not only attract better players but guys who want to stay around and help build a winning team.

Seems a bit strange to talk about integrity and loyalty when we have just  unceremoniously jettisoned several players who have won back to back promotions. Clubs will always put themselves and their ambitions first and players have every right to do the same. They will spend their short careers on 1 to 2 year contracts so have every right to seek out a better deal/ situation when an opportunity arises.

  4. Nice of the club to reward the season ticket holders who have made the effort to get to Firhill this season by charging us to attend the playoff matches for the first time ever ( as far as I can recall). The club continues to find new ways to disappoint and tread on its core supporter group.

  5. I would agree that this is a game we really need to win to get things going again. Not sure if starting with 2 strikers is necessarily the answer as it would mean other good players either not playing or playing out of position. Connell has to start and it would be great to have Baynham back as an option off the bench as Mchugh offers nothing at the moment.

The free scarf was a brilliant idea and I took mine with pleasure. What I did not find was a good Idea, was our captain giving away at the end of the game our cherished Wattenschied 09 captain's armband to one of our young supporters. I have always enjoyed our relationship with the  guys in Germany and they have been good friends of our club, both here and in Germany and it is part of our history and not something to be given away. It has got me thinking about our first game of the season, when our captain was not even waring it, and it magical appeared on his arm for our second game after I mentioned the fact on this forum. Did the new regime at the club take a dislike to this armband as not being PC, because the word on it contains  Fuhrer ( German for Leader ) and this was a good opportunity to get rid of it in the celebrations after the game. However, I was sitting only six rows back and it happened right in front of me. That is how I know this has happened. A small part of our history gone under this new regime. SAD.

Did it occur to you that the club might have more than one of the armbands? The Wattenscheid guys have sent over several through the years and i even have one at home. I saw Doyle give away the band and thought it was a great gesture to mark our first home league game with fans for a long time.

  7. I had a season ticket last year but will not be going to either of the home cup games. I am sure with the school holidays, covid and people not wanting to go without family/friends there will be dozens of tickets going unused. Are the club seriously not going to make any attempt to get these tickets into the hands of fans who have been waiting so long to see their team live? Treating the lifeblood of the club with utter contempt.

  8. Another 3 points but an utterly abject performance all round considering the good form we have been in. A horrible looking injury for Quitongo as well. Will require a much improved display against Edinburgh if we are to maintain our unbeaten record.

  9. I understand people want to know everything that is going on with the players but as a club we haven't given out detailed injury updates going back to Gus taking over so it is not exactly new. It is also possible the absences could be Covid related with either a positive test or self isolation and would be totally understandable for the club keep that information in house.

Hopefully the available squad will get the job done and keep up the momentum.

  10. Jamieson had a fine season after making the step up from the Juniors but it has been pretty clear from the start that Mckinnon has his own ideas about players and what he looks for.   As far as I can recall there have been hardly any players who have recently been released by Queen's and gone on to have good careers in Scottish football. Will be interesting to see if Jamieson or even Moore can change that.

  11. With Joffrey and Calvin Mcgrory announcing their departure from the club on twitter, I imagine we can expect an official announcement of everyone who is leaving pretty soon. Will be interesting to see when we start to announce incoming players but I expect the club would hold off until there is more concrete info on the format and start date of the new season. I am sure the rumours will start flying in the meantime!

  12. Potentially some tough decisions to be made in the next few weeks. Roberts is definitely under pressure now despite the good form in November. Defeat to Stenny would be the last straw for me. If Roberts is to stay then we will have to look at adding some quality to the squad in January to try to keep us away from a relegation dogfight.

  13. Fantastic result in the end today. Apart from a well taken goal from Purdue we were poor in the first half with too many panicked clearances and sloppy passes. Fortunate to be ahead at half time but credit to Roberts and the players for a much inproved second half where we played much higher up the park and defended more convincingly. Terrific goal from Salim who grows in stature and importance with every game.

  14. Expecting a tough game against an Edinburgh team we always seem to struggle against. It might be an old fashioned cliche but the first goal will be crucial. In the 7 games we have scored first this season we have 6 wins and 1 draw as opposed to no wins, 4 draws and 6 defeats when we concede first.

Hopefully Salim can get us off the mark early like last week and set us on the road to victory.

  15. I think the fact that we already have 4 or 5 different lineups/formations being suggested tells its own story. Nobody really knows our optimal lineup and tactics at the moment. Roberts needs to find the answers soon.

Personally think a move to a back 4 is the way to go and i would go 4231 with

    Grant Jamieson Little Clark

    Joffrey Block

    Moore Thompson Galt

    Kouider-Aissa
