  1. Just having a flick through Twitter though and it seems the majority of Morton fans “hate” Falkirk. I personally wouldn’t want a club to rot or go under but as someone else said no tears will be shed on certain clubs.
To be fair we bumped their manager and the majority of our fans acted like c***s about it. Swings and roundabouts [emoji1745]

Not saying we should be mourning another club's loss but gloating about it when it could easily be us, and has been in the past, is a bit weird
  2. Keena comes straight back into the team when fit (obvs) and right now I reckon Sammon should be the other starter

No problem with Dowds and Francis battling it out for third choice, neither have looked excellent but haven't seen anywhere near enough to write either off

(for the love of f**k though comparing Francis to Cadette is straight racism, stop it [emoji23])

  3. No training or games for two weeks, Falkirk doing as expected in the league - reckon this could be an embarrassing one for us.
That's fine though, the result will definitely have an asterisk next to it. If Falkirk go all out to beat us it's just ungentlemanly, which is what we've all come to expect from them.
We haven't really horsed anyone yet, Dumbarton came the closest to it. Here's hoping this is the first [emoji1696]
  4. They played 3 at that back that season which was more the feature for me, I cant fully recall the attacking option but I know it wasnt 1 up top as we know it at lower league level
Doolan wasnt even their top goalscorer and he wasnt even 2nd top scorer
Partick Thistle played with a 4-2-3-1 for the vast majority of their title winning season. This isn't up for debate. They changed it to 3 after they got promoted

The fact you're saying 'as we know it' basically acknowledges that 1 up top can be both attacking or defensive depending on the tactics, as can literally any other formation

  5. Liverpool and countless other teams dont play 1 up top tho, a 3 pronged attack with one leading and generally is a top 3
Dumbarton twice (Lister and Nade) and ourselves with Farid are probably the only budget versions of the 1 up top that I think worked well and effective.
For me its all about the personel and support from whatever the formation behind and its rare for budget versions to work, Ray McKinnon his whole managerial career has tried to shoehorn it into every club he has managed. I still laugh at his failure at UTD playing it, turned to 2 up top and it started to turnaround albeit failure in the playoffs. He then reverted back to 1 up top following season and got sacked. I laughed less when he did it with us
Partick Thistle won the championship with Doolan up front on his own supported by a 3. Myth
  6. This idea that playing with one striker is necessarily defensive is a myth peddled by folk that don't actually understand football. 4-2-3-1 can be more offensive than 4-4-2 with the right personnel and mentality

Dunno how anyone can look at Connolly/Telfer/Morrison supporting a striker with Alston running from deep and think 'f**k sake we've parked the bus'

  7. I'm not concerned about the defense tbh. It's essentially the same back 4 and goalkeeper that only conceded 18 goals in 28 games last season (and only 5 of them were at home) .
Although we don't have any cover at CB or RB (unless you include Gary Miller) I wouldn't want us to sign bodies/ shell out wages just for the sake of it, particularly given the obvious budget constraints this season.
Although it was concerning that we conceded two set pieces against Dunfermline, the fact it's got them a goal against every other team they've faced this season as well suggests the Thomas > Murray combination is one they've worked on a lot. The goal we conceded on Saturday was disappointing but it doesn't suddenly make us shit at the back.
Hopefully we can shift a few more season tickets off the back of last nights vote and get a better calibre of player in as a result

You only have to have watched us since October to have some concerns about the defence tbh. We look about as solid as a pane of glass on set pieces, which is suicidal in L1
  8. To be fair I think a lot of us will agree that we never expected Alston to re-sign, this pandemic could yet bring us that miracle. Could be a case of sign a years deal with us to get back playing again and put his injuries behind him then look for a better move next summer when hopefully things have calmed down. I'm still clinging onto the hope that we'll manage to get rid of Sammon.
Alston was the very upper limit but Kingsley is in a different universe financially. Don't see how it can happen, but also don't see the problem with throwing him a bone on the off-chance
