Would love some clarification as to why neither Appéré nor Mcmullan in the squad today, and hope Glass’ injury not too bad.
Mcmullan has been playing with a torn groin for the last month and has been playing with painkillers every week since around the Dundee game.0 -
That seems an odd choice. I could see the logic in Palace signing him six months early because he wasn't getting a game at United and so there'd be the worry that he'd stagnate. He'll get a game at Alloa right enough but would presumably only train part-time. That can't be ideal for his development.
So strange and confirmed now. He should have a signed a new deal in the summer and would have got a lot more game time with us and then made the step.0 -
Scott banks due to join Alloa on loan for the rest of the season

LIVIFOREVER now wading into the domestic cup section of the forum (a place Livingston fans never need to bother with past February) to try and get at me.
What a pity.
They did manage to beat Hibs in a league cup final....1 -

I definitely felt like our bench looked weak last night. A mixture of a lack of options but also a real lack of faith in those listed as subs, which is partly Neilson's fault for never actually playing any of them. I did previously think that someone like Cammy Smith would be a great option to have but he, and others, have barely been used by the manager. If Neilson is not going to use them then we really do need a few additions in January.
Spot on. If Neilson is bringing on Sporle ahead of Smith when we needed a goal, it tells you Smith has no chance of getting a game.0 -
This seems like an unhelpful distraction but whatever, be churlish to hold the guy back I suppose. I take it there are still Championship fixtures on during the international break?
That is the weekend of challenge cup so don’t think he will miss any games.0 -
I have a nagging suspicion we may have seen the last of him already.
He was all smiles and hugs with the manager on Friday night in the players family area after the game. Personally feel Robson has stepped up this season and has kept him out the team.
Not sure Neilson wants to have a player that can only play one position on the bench hence him not making match day squads just now.0 -
It’s a wonder then how tinpot clubs travel the length and breadth of England every week at League Two and conference level then - all without the handout that poor wee Dunfermline were given and spunked away to cover a similar distance.
Or perhaps the mighty Barrow have got a frequent flyer discount.
I think it’s a bit inaccurate to say without the handout Dunfermline had. The money a league two team receives through the TV money will be nothing short of 6 figures far more than Dunfermline will get equivalent.0 -
Reading in the express this morning that the club are trying to tie banks and other youngsters down with new deals. Good news if we can get them on longer contracts.

It's not the statement that puts Neilson under pressure, it was the performance and subsequent result.
This. None of this would be happening if we had gone out and put 3/4 past this part time team.0 -
Connolly is going to miss half the season if he keeps his booking record up.

Craig Conway training with Bolton with a view to moving.

I can understand the more defensive approach last night, but the next three games in this competition should be 4-4-2.
Spot on. If Neilson doesn’t give it a go in these games it’s going to be a long season.0 -
I think 4-2-3-1 would be ok if the three behind Shankland were Banks, C Smith and McMullan tbh. I really cannot see Robbie Neilson deviating from that formation too much, sadly. Clark has his qualities, but being a number 10 is not one of them.
I think you’re right but don’t see this happening at all. Once (if ever) Sow and Pawlett get fit they will be straight back in. Shankland will quickly become a number 10 with poor service. Got to hope Mcmullan and Pawlett improve there service.

Think you ken he's struggled when Booth looks a much better option.
Still don’t understand how booth doesn’t get a game ahead of Robson.
Hoping Sporle improves to be better than Robson or we will have another average full back on a long contract.

I thought it was a shite game from our point of view. Some may say its unfair V a team probably challenging for a European spot but the basics werent there tonight.
Alot of last seasons problems look like they're going to be there again this year. Poor out wide, awful distribution from defence and our midfield doesn't really do anything.
We could barely string 3 passes together and as per usual ended up launching it for whatever poor b*****d drew the short straw to play up front.
Clark again doing nothing due to being out of position, same for Stanton who was also being played out of position and our lack of effective wingers again has gone unaddressed.
We have Cammy Smith, Sam Stanton, Paul McMullan, Peter Pawlett, Ian Harkes, Glass and Banks who could play that "number 10" role more effectively. Why play Clark? He does nothing there. Play him right up front or dont play him at all.
Playing the way we do, ill say it now, Shankland will score less than half of last seasons tally.
Totally agree with this. Not sure what Cammy smith has to do to get a game.
The remaining betfred games will be a good insight into how neilson is going to play this season. If he doesn’t go two up top in the games then I’ve got no hope for us improving our goal tally this season. Shankland needs service and right now he isn’t going to get it.0 -
Sporle taking an hammering on here. Personally didn’t think he was that bad and wasn’t helped by a very poor robson.
Can’t believe he still gets a game as he never takes a player on or hits the byline for a cross.
Shankland looked sharp and Smith is the full back we’ve needed for a while.
A decent winger in and another centre back I’ll be happy.0 -
I am still concerned with the centre back options just now. Would happily see Connolly and frans both move on.

But are you really surprised given Neilsons blind faith in Pawlett and Sow?!
He clearly feels having these two back in January has been like two new signings.
