  1. Maybe I’m more frustrated with Swann then, when he got to the byline and put the cross in last night in the second half it looked almost effortless, I just feel He didn’t do it enough when he had opportunities to do so. Hopefully with a run in the team confidence will grow and we will as more of that.
Thought young Sneddon did well, big opportunity to score in first half but panicked and blazed over. Coxy again was poor last night, wouldn’t mind seeing him dropped for Allan but can’t see it happening.

Stirling far more comfortable in possession and could easily have won that game. Thankfully they are a bit powder upfront although we did defend well at times too.

The big keeper had 3/4 good stops and won us the point really.

Thats only the 2nd time I have seen the 2 hearts lads, and both times Hamilton has been far more influential than Smith. Hope the young lad keeps going though, can see he likes to run at defences with the ball and hopefully he will find ways to hurt teams and grow as a player.
Also thought Swann was decent, as he was Saturday and gives us some creativity when he can.

I think I seen Swann deliver 1 cross tonight?

  3. And having just watched the highlights back, god forbid any of our centre halves get injured because Pyper is horrendous. I don’t like to come on here and slag off players but unfortunately hes not good enough for this level. Always gives full effort and commitment and thought he was actually doing ok up until he gave away the penalty yesterday but watching it back he gets caught under the initial free kick and then has no awareness around him and just wipes the boy clean out.

  4. Gutted about the tie over 2 legs, simply not good enough. Hopefully the young lads returning on Tuesday bring that balance back to the team. Does anybody have any idea on timescales for herd and Mullen? Not had the chance to see much of herd but is surely better than what we have, I’ve expressed my concerns about miller and I think the last 2 games have answered that, just isn’t good enough unfortunately. Another concern is the left back area, Swann has obvious ability going forward and attacking but is very poor defensively. Hopefully Mullen isn’t long term but the picture posted looks like his arm was in a cast is that a fracture?

  5. We could have kept playing for another 900 minutes and still don’t think we would have scored. What the last 2 weeks has shown is how crucial smith and Hamilton are, and there are players who are quite simply not good enough. Biggest disappointments for me over the 2 games would have to be cox and Thomas. Thought Pyper was having a decent game until he gave away the penalty, he seems prone to conceding penalties. Apart from mangos effort off the line I don’t recall they’re goalie having a save to make.

  6. What is Pyper doing for that goal? Why not double up with miller, and Miller was very lightweight, and too tight all he had to do was try and stand up see him away from goal.

Saturday was disappointing but hopefully the boys realise that themselves and maybe just a wee reminder that there is still a lot of hard work needed if we are to progress in the cup and hopefully challenge in the league this season.

  7. A lot of comments regarding an off day but it seemed more than that to me today. It was a lack of effort which stood out for me which was the biggest disappointment. Certain individuals had a poor game but overall it looked as if most had the mindset that we were the better side and it would be a walk over because we’ve won a few games and sit second in league 2. Big opportunity for likes of Allan and Taylor to give the manager a selection headache but failed to do so. In midfield Thomas was very poor and Miller was dreadful. In games like that today it takes one of they players to be brave and try and get the ball on the back foot in dangerous areas, instead Miller was dropping deeper than the centre half’s to receive the ball and then simply play a square ball back to one of them. I think we created 2 chances today which tells t story. Big improvements needed if we are to progress next week.

Today just highlights how we persist with hoofball and how we miss Hamilton. All Renton would have done is head the hoofball's to their defence. Would have made no difference. Although, I do think Renton is one of the few who puts in a decent cross.

Taylor puts in loads of effort and should have scored instead of passing to Thomas. Allan gets no service. If we aren't going to give him the service, then don't play him.

What a lot of nonsense. Hoofball because there was absolutely no option going forward today. Allan was like a statue and strutts about with minimum effort almost like he thinks he should be at a higher level. Cox was dreadful, was like a garden gait every ball that was played into him your didn’t know where it was going to end up. Taylor pish, and Miller was absolutely rank rotten.

In what way is it a bold statement? We should be beating Broxburn and losing would be an embarrassment. To say anything else is birthday card garbage.

Well I hope the players don’t approach it in the same mindset as me as I’m out for a load of pints on Friday. Fans tend to prepare for games differently to players.

Looks like half of them have approached it in the same manner as you. Dreadful Allan cox Taylor Buchanan need ashake!

We should be winning this one comfortably. Anything other than a victory would be embarrassing.

I think that’s bold statement. Broxburn will no doubt provide a tough test on Saturday. It’s a massive day for their club and players. I would imagine they will have some quality in amongst there squad who will all be pumped and hoping for a bit of a scalp. I would like to think we can progress to the next round but I don’t think it will be a foregone conclusion. Hopefully the lads don’t approach the game in the same mindset you seem to have.

  11. Renton has been excellent this season. Regarding the comment about his fitness, you clearly watch a different game because the amount of running and pressing the big man does is brilliant and he runs himself into the ground for the cause. He has been a massive part of our recent success even though he himself may not be grabbing the goals.

2 big things that Allan is lacking for me at the moment are his work rate, was on the pitch for about 20 mins on Saturday and didn’t see him press once, and he needs to improve on his finishing, that may come with more minutes I get that.

  12. how I would imagine we will likely shape up  :

    Whyte

    sneddon Pyper Todd valentine

    taylor Miller Thomas Swann

    allan and (connelly)

is connelly available for these fixtures?

obviously there are other youngsters in and around the squad that I would imagine will make up the bench or either in centre mid rather than Kyle or Archie.

It's a cracking decision from the linesman, onside. Never forget they have a better view than most fans :)

Bad tackle from Thomson though, you could see he was rattled as he went flying into one a few seconds previously. Not a nice wee chap.

Also thought coxy was well offside at the game but after watching the highlights he’s well onside and it’s a great call from the linesman. Shocking tackle from Thomson who clearly lost his head. Not sure what the shouts where as he was walking for his early shower...

How are Smith and Hamilton getting on for you boys?

Both been outstanding! Smith is a cracking technical player and can find the spaces between the lines and has the ability to take players on. I felt Hamilton was a bit rash in his first couple of games and maybe just took him a week or 2 to find his feet as he’s been top drawer in recent weeks, almost playing in a sweeper like position in the centre of a back 3 and reads the game very well, with a decent turn of pace to allow him to cover well.

  15. Edinburgh city had lots of the ball but can’t remember PJ having a save to make. Everyone worked hard but the defence was absolutely outstanding again mango quality, Hamilton brilliant again and big toddy for me was man of the match. Could have maybe added 1 or 2 more on the break at the end but all that matters is the 3 points.

We won, again. When we were losing every week sometimes we actually played well. We are winning now whilst sometimes not being at our best. I think that’s a much better place. Just saying.

If you read back my previous post after the game on Saturday I said the exact same thing

With the exception of young Chris Hamilton, who was outstanding, most players probably underperformed today and played well below the standards they have set and we still came away with a clean sheet and 3 points.

    Impressive stuff, mon the coo!

Funny how people see the same things differently.I thought our midfield never really got going on Saturday, and Miller's distribution was terrible. Sitting on a one nil lead and time wasting with half an hour to go looked a very risky strategy, but our back three were terrific, as they have been all season. The one time iRovers  got through our keeper pulled off a great save.Like others I was surprised that we didn't use any substitutes, but five wins in a row, happy days

Agree with this, I thought miller was extremely poor yesterday. And the other guys mentioned where nowhere near the standards they have set, in particular Thomas and Renton.

Get Allan on for the next league game.

Was surprised we didn’t bring on any subs yesterday. If Allan played on the shoulder and looked to use his pace in behind he would be ideal for that kind of situation yesterday, but he always seems to want to come short for the ball which would have invited more pressure into us yesterday.

Morrison played well today and made a crucial save.

Crying out for a few subs second half to take the game to Rovers and pose a threat.

We definitely need more threat up front if we want to challenge the top two, starting next week.

Morrison made a genuine world class save 5 mins into second half. Can’t really remember him having another save to make, but dealt with everything in terms of crosses/set pieces very comfortably and confidently.
