IF it ever did, given that would mean 6 new clubs in the SPFL, no reason why the HL and LL champions couldn't automatically be promoted. Delighted to see Linlithgow Rose promoted. I'm sure they'll be at least a top 6 side next season.

Not going to hunt for examples to prove my point as that is just sad, but I have read some.
Anyway my main point was 're the hoops level 5 champions have to jump through to get into tier 4.
As someone who watches most of his football in League 2, I have been delighted to see Cove Rangers, Kelty Hearts and Bonnyrigg Rose join the SPFL. All three have brought a good level of support for tier 4 and all have made an impact on the league, some obviously more than others. I really don't think anyone can complain about Bonnyrigg's ground - at least they have their own ground, which not all SPFL members do. Is it really any worse than some of the other stadia that are/have been in the league? They have a plan to improve it, but they're doing it is they can afford to do so.
The HL and LL champions do have to achieve a lot to get ion to the league in winning the Pyramid Play Off, but then again you have to win a Play Off to get in to the HL and usually you would have to win a round robin tournament to get in to the LL. Tier 5 teams can't really complain until they get their own house in order.1 -

You have to keep in mind that Brora have failed to win promotion play offs, whenever they have had the opportunity to play in one. Now they have an opportunity to move up a league without having to kick a ball - you bet they're going to vote for it! In exactly the same way that B teams would be placed in any new Conference League based on nothing at all to do with merit, don't be surprised if any Lowland or Highland League representatives just happen to be teams that voted for it, rather than the top teams in either league.

Based on what we've seen from the 4 relegated sides in recent seasons, the only one close to coming back is Brechin City.
Bonnyrigg only beat Fraserburgh by 1 goal on aggregate and Brechin weren't so far off the pace in the Highland league last season. I think they're nearer a return than the 3 Lowland sides.1 -

Stenhousemuir look like they have a squad that could compete at the top end of the table this season - but then I thought that last season and it never materialized. I'm not sure I agree with the chairman's assessment that last season (1.36 points per game) was much better than the previous season (1.18 points per game).

I streamed the game - and credit to Brora on their production. They can't have streamed too many games this season and the production as better than several I've seen in Leagues One and Two.
I thought the first half was fairly even, but when Kelty made chances they were better chances than the ones Brora made. Kelty's first penalty miss was one of the worst attempts I have seen in years!
Kelty were much the better side in the second half.
Easton's goal was class. Unfortunately he does seem to be one of those players that like to throw themselves on the floor for little or no contact, which is a shame because a player of his quality doesn't need to do that. Nathan Austin was a handful all game. I was surprised Kelty's third penalty was given - seemed a bit soft.
All in all, Kelty were well worth a 2-0 first leg win and it was a good game to watch.0 -

I enjoyed watching this season's team much more than the previous, there's been some players linking well going forward, but the really telling point is that in neither season was the management team capable of turning around poor form against the better teams.
None of the four play off contenders were very consistent.
Edinburgh City started well with a 7-1-1 record after the break but then had one win and three losses after the split.
Elgin City had a poor 3-2-4 record after the break and performed the best of the four teams post split, winning three and losing just once.
Stranraer went 4-1-3 after the break and then 2-1-1 post split.
Stirling Albion meanwhile went 4-2-3 after the break but then 1-1-2 post split.
I agree this season's team was very watchable - on their day I think Stirling and Stranraer played the most attractive football in the division. I don't feel Stirling were any worse than the other three sides and I think that's reflected in the fact they only finished two points behind Edinburgh in second.0 -
The Lowland and Highland Leagues are not as strong as some people seem to think. If they were, there would have been more than 2 teams promoted from the Play Offs in 5 attempts. If all of the Play Off finals had been as one-side as Cove v Berwick was a couple of years ago I would be all for reviewing the promotion format, but that's not exactly been the case.
I don't know of they will, but I would like to see the League 2 Play Offs go ahead this season - Brora and Kelty never got a chance last season and as it doesn't look like their season will continue this time around, it would be nice to see them get their shot at the end of this season.

Terrible idea. Celtic and Rangers don't even want to play in Scotland, they would rather play in England, an Atlantic League or anywhere else where they could get more money. These "Colt" teams would soon become "Reserves" and any concessions made today world be swept away tomorrow with an offer of more cash.

I'm sure this is just Rangers trying to "punish" the Lowland League sides for opposing the Conference League , by withdrawing their financial support. Good riddance.
It's an absurd position - apparently Rangers thought having a B team in the Lowland League was a great idea for 2 seasons, but suddenly it isn't anymore! I don't think they ever cared about developing younger players, they just wanted to find a way of getting B teams in to the SPFL.
