I've had a real bellyfull of the Scottish football authorities copying English names all the time, like premiership and championship. Even "premier" was a copy of the Northern Premier League. We named our top tier after their seventh tier.

If the leagues are reconstructed we should borrow names from elsewhere in Europe.

I'd go for Superliga, Eerste Divisie & Serie C.

    I’ll go for that.

  3. There aren’t many who we would want to leave, and squad members I would especially like to stay are;

Dillo, Steevsie, Paul Watson, Terry, Flem, Matty, both Cammies. The Fife cousins Liam & CJ also great to have.

Lewis has talent, but we haven’t seen it for a wee while, he needs to get back to being more mental.

Rusty got of to a slow start and he still needs to prove his worth. Not sure about Lennox yet, he seems to have good and bad days.

Blair will be missed, and will be playing against us next season.

This is something I have been thinking about for the last 2-3 seasons, I am just not enjoying the football the same as I was. it is not purely down to the shit we have been serving up because, believe it or not, we have had teams just as shit as the current one before, and I never missed a game.

I just don't have the same appetite for it now, maybe it is just a few kick in the baws too much. I do know one big reason I am pissed off with it all, and that is the blatant corruption that seems to be generally accepted as the norm.

For decades we have watched the self preservation league move goalposts to keep the their pals sweet, and I am sure they will find a way to keep Hearts up too.

But, for me, Scottish football is stagnating, the quality on display from Celtic all the way down to Brechin is just awful. Aberdeen regularly get pumped in Europe by trawler boat crews and every time Celtic play  a decent European side they get humiliated, but maybe it is just the more serious issues at the moment that have put football into a more realistic perspective.

Is anyone else feeling the same way, or do I just need a kick up the erse?

I’m not with you on this thread, but sympathise and understand where you’re coming from.

Falkirk will feel hard done by if there is no 14-10-10-10 or the likes and you see yourselves as being firmly in the championship at least.

As a Mo fan, we had 20 years or so punching beneath our weight, while clubs like Brechin were way above theirs.

Now I see the Mo being where they should be and we do get entertaining football.

But this is a bit of a rarity, and not many supporters can honestly say this.

I think Scottish football needs a huge shake up.

Clear out the archaic blazers running the show, look at other nations, like Iceland, Croatia etc and see what they are doing right.

Stop trying to copy England, which is a totally different entity that gets billions chucked at football from the TV.

Scotland gets the crumbs and the twa cheeks o the erse sook it up. This BBC is a hugely England centric entity, what country in the world would get to watch its neighbours international game while their own country is not available on mainstream TV?

Why was Scottish football so successful in the 1970s and 80s? We can also learn from the past.

I think you'll find they were in a financial mess before Covid, all its likely to have done is bring the closure forward.

True, but there are a few clubs in a financial mess and many of them are in the premiership.

Rangers are the ones that stand out. Could it be they haven’t learnt from recent history?

Fair play to Raith top most of the season and top when football stopped, under the current circumstances their will always be winners and losers. Biggest disappointment for me was the run in was going to very tense and interesting and should of been a winner takes all final day.
Best of luck next season and give the Pars a good hiding from us lot as well.

Me too, it was going to be a very interesting and exiting end of the season. League 1 was a bit unpredictable and who knows who would have won it.

But Raith are the team now, and they are right to celebrate.

Which clubs do you think will be gone? Are we talking one or two, or are we talking a dozen or more?

Why will they be gone? If the government are picking up the wages bill, what are a clubs other outgoings? Could the fans organise fighting funds to pay these outgoings?

Some of the premier teams are likely the first to go down the tubes, Rangers apparently can survive 7 days without gate money.

Not sure why this hasn’t happened yet

Shamelessly lifted from Twitter!  Of the 42 grounds in Scottish professional football:

    1) how many have you visited

    2) how many have you seen your team play at

    3) what was the first one you visited

    4) what was the last one you visited

    5) what was your favourite (for whatever reason you like)

    6) what was your least favourite?

Okay, I’m no where near you all, probably because I’ve a large family and too many commitments, work etc.

    1) 12

    2) 11

    3) Apart from Links Park, The Glebe, Brechin City

    4) Apart from Links Park, Station Road, Forfar

    5) Gayfield, atmosphere was brilliant, cracking ground, cracking pies. The stadium is like something dating back to the 1920s. Got to hand it to these stinky Arbroathers, they do a grand job 😂

    6) Ibrox (to watch Aberdeen) it’s a pit full of knuckle dragging half wits. They have no sense of humanity. I will never return.

    The stadium on my hit list are;

    Hibs, Easter Road

    East Fife, Bayview

    Raith Rovers

    Dumbarton

I fear we are in for an interminable period of legal wrangling because of the shambolic manner in which this has been handled. I remain broadly in favour of ending the season as things stand and looking at a league reconstruction that will no longer disadvantage part-time clubs in the second tier.

The events in the past couple of weeks do not fill me with confidence.

    I agree totally.

Even if temporary, there should be teams moved up from the Highland / Lowland leagues.

Partick Thistle have been hard done by, Stranraer haven’t. Brechin look like having a great escape.

Ive always thought the top 2 should be promoted in every league, and there should be no relegation.

But how big each league should be, I don’t know.

  10. Come on lads, you are neighbours 😂😂

Seriously, when the smokies went up, I was genuinely happy for them, but gutted, the Mo v Arbroath games could get 2000 fans easy and I’m guessing it will be the same for you? It was a brilliant atmosphere when we played the fish smelling seaside tuechters.

I have always found both the Raith and East Fife fans good supporters and had a great crack with individuals from both teams, so it’s no true what they say bout the Fifers 👍👍

Your in cloud cookoo land if you think that is happening. We have flight in mid August cancelled. We ain't seeing football until late this year at the earliest.  The premiership would play on the moon if it preserved implosion of sky TV money.

    That’s the way it is.

Remember when Boris was going for herd immunity, and him being chief donkey got that pretty much wrong and while 1 million people attended the races at Cheltenham, the long awaited East Fife v The Mo game was binned in Scotland.

Just as well for the Fifers because they were crapping themselves anyway 🙂

Still thinking the promote two and relegate none is the fairest solution with extra relegation to reset the leagues next season, yes it’s unfair on 3/4th but a line has to be drawn and no team outside the top spots and Falkirk was realistically going to win the leagues guaranteeing promotion and it gives them a great chance of promotion next season. Declare champions? I’d let Celtic and Rangers argue that one and then the other leagues follow their decision, not sure any of the others will be that bothered about the trophy over promotion.

Null and Void is unfair on teams in promotion spots who’ve played 3/4 of a season and we also have potential minefield with TV companies and other sponsors wanting their money back I expect Dundee Utd and Cove have spent big to guarantee promotion as well could null and void put them in financial trouble?.

Finish as is promote 1 relegate 1 sounds great to RRFC but it’s extremely harsh on the teams in the relegation spot and also Falkirk.

I like the idea of using this as an opportunity to reconstruct the leagues but let’s be honest the SPFL doing it at this short notice would make a pigs ear of it.

I think the 2 up no relegation with expanded leagues for 1 season would get voted through and it would also allow HL/LL to promote their champions meaning promotion right down the pyramid.

The first line sums it up perfectly and it’s the fairest way to do it

But Dundee are only 4 points behind 2nd place Inverness in the Championship. We’re only 4 points behind 2nd place Falkirk in League 1.

I’m genuinely not bothered about us going up but you get the point.

I see your point, but this is the easiest and probably fairest solution and the “what if” contingent will be gutted but these are special times.

  14. As a Montrose fan, I want to say thank you to the Brechin lads that made a donation to our fund.

Very kind, and we are hoping everything goes well for City.

Myself and I dare say some other Mo fans have contributed to your gofundme, to show appreciation and solidarity!

  15. Apologies for repeating this, I mentioned it in the wrong thread earlier.

some of you will have read about what happened in Chile?

Due to social unrest, their league was stopped at a similar stage to ours.

Their equivalent SFA fell out big time after a similar solution to what has happened in Scotland.

So they changed it and promoted the top 2 teams of each league. Nobody got demoted.
Their top team in the top league was given the title, fairly enough, as they had a 13 point lead! So the twa cheeks o the arse should accept this, well the blue cheek should!

Scottish football needs a shake up. Stop copying England, shut down Junior football and add the teams into the Highland / Lowland leagues (making more leagues). One governing body, with less dominance from the twa cheeks.
Make each league bigger by 2 teams?

Maybe not ideal, but would stop the bitterness?

  16. Chile had a similar problem, not being able to finish the league due to civil unrest.

Their SFA equivalent had a near civil war, so what they did was no team got demoted, and they promoted the top 2 teams in each league.

    Seems pretty fair.

Also they should look at moving up some of the Lowland / Highland clubs.

Infact, Scottish football needs a total shake up.

Do away with junior football and move the teams into divisions of Highland and Lowland?
