What I really hope our transfer policy doesn't contain is 5/6/7 tier English players who think they'll be too good for this league but end up underperforming.

Going for players like Kevin O'hara and Miko Virtanen for example who have had success in this league and who are still relatively young would be great.

Kevin O’Hara would be a superb signing for us however I think he may well finish further up the food chain . The boy is from Stirling I think and the development fee might add to the challenge focus to get him . If the Pars are selling Nisbet then it’s a move that they might make .

Paul Watson signs for Dunfermline. That really is a cracking signing for them and one I had hoped we were looking at especially as he’s a former teammate of Kerr.

While I understand why we aren’t signing anyone at the moment if other clubs in our league start signing players there’s a danger we could be left scrapping the barrel.

The Pars are making their moves and I’d say Watson will be a top signing at this level  . Whither they make the top four is anybody’s guess but their definitely putting it out there .

Also interesting to note the ex Ict midfielder Trafford has signed for Hamilton !

  3. What are we talking here 13 homes games . .? Let’s go £20 at the gate , Gold season £230 , Platinum £300 . Throw in a scarf or something for Platinum as a sweetener . The uptake might be very surprising based on the goodwill shown to 5he club this summer .

Just feel we should be trying something different given these crazy, hopefully one off times .

  4. I’d say give the option to season ticket holders to pay full price if they want/can  . When you think about it £300 out a years salary for what may be people’s main hobby interest isn’t huge . Many will pay more than that to watch sky or bt screening a bunch of glamour games where they don’t really care who wins .

The flip side is go all value for money and perhaps end up in the seaside league again . A prospect that horrifies me so much the extra few quid would seem painless in comparison .

Maybe want to give the likes of Malley a chance to meet that benchmark (particularly when joining a team mid season) rather than dismissing him based on a couple of appearances

Kerr spent a bit of time and travelled  down south a couple of times scouting Malley . So I’d guess he thinks he has plenty to offer and it wouldn’t surprise me if he comes back and fills Kelly’s old position .

Some players have been offered contracts and have to decide at end of furlough , at Ayr recently they tend not to announce anything until deals are done , players will commence training approx 6 weeks before season starts which is normal , I would not be concerned about lack of signings until then , I believe we will be in as good a position as around 80% of teams in our league , as for someone stating we will not have a budget increase , of course we will not have one , currently we will be playing 9 less games , behind the scenes at Somerset have come on leaps and bounds in the last year or so , and is much more professional

I would be willing to pay £300 for my season 9 games less or not .  I guessing with the good will shown to the club this summer ,due to exceptional circumstances others would too , Maybe have it as an option on the form . Surely our budget ain’t going to be allowed to cost us a top four finish .

  7. Think it’s safe to say we won’t be having a budget increase this coming season . Therefor best case scenario at the moment is we have Doc and Aldo’s salary to play with at the moment  . Add to that any off the out of contract players who we may let go . So realistically we are looking at between two and maybe four new contracted players . There will be a bunch of loans ,hopefully our luck will hold and Rangers will sent their hot young talent .

I’ll be praying that Harvie stays , delighted if Murdock stays and pleased if Aero stays . The rest mmmmeeeeeh .

  8. Another blow to us for next season , what a player Stephen Kelly will turn out to be ,  Just got to suck it up ,he is a Rangers player . The silver lining is Rangers are pretty impressed with how we treated him , 33 Championship games at 19 ain’t bad going . Let’s hope they have another couple of gems we can have for a season or so ...

Aye even though management team are on Furlough I’d still be very surprised if they  weren’t in regular contact with each other discussing signing targets etc.

Main targets would have been getting sounded out months ago , I hope , but the longer you wait the more chance you have of getting gasumpt , on the plus side we should still be very attractive to young players with stalled careers , they just have to look at Rose and LS to see what good coaching and regular games can do for wasted  talent ...

    sign?

This is all getting very boring....

I’d be thrilled if we had our eye on McGinn , Paton , McManus , McDonald and Hartley , However this is Ayr United not Carlsberg , I doubt we have the resources for even two of that list ,so it youth with a point to prove freed by bigger clubs and loans from bigger clubs that won’t want too much compensation . It is what it is and we have to hope Kerr has an eye for a player and the contacts in the game to do him a favour or two .....

think Gillespie , possibly Geggan and 1 of Bell or Muirhead will go , we do need some new faces , there will be lots available when the Premiership returns and they deceive who will be going out on loan , think a few clubs will be more fussy where they send loanees this coming season after all the infighting during these numerous votes , I also believe Harvie will be an Ayr player next season

If Harvie signs for a further year , then it will be a very similar boost to the Re signing of Shankland . I’d be highly delighted if that happens . In my opinion that would give us the best fullbacks in the league .

e only 2 that I don’t think will get an offer will be Gillespie and Geggan. Whether or not others like Harvie decide of their own accord to leave is a different matter.

Geggan gives you cover at right back , right and centre midfield . A very flexible player to lose , but yes his pace is suspect and he is injury prone .

s your typical bang average championship striker. Never going to be any more than that. I’d take him or Kevin O’Hara from

Defo have a look at O’Hara , I believe he was at Falkirk at the same time as Kerr .  However his goal scoring ratio at the end of the season may have alerted some bigger fish . Pars will have some money to spend on contracts after they offload Nesbit . McHugh ,who I never thought of before , kind off falls into our price range . I

Is there any news on who our feeder club from the north east is releasing . Particularly in the under 22 age group ,we seem to have done well there in the not so distant past !

  14. Also isn’t it about time we got this seasons sales underway regardless of the ongoing spfl  bullshit ? They can always refund if the number are off somewhat !

Some decent players out there , and the early bird may well catch the worm . If we could just make two quality signings  and then back up with loans we would be in decent shape for a pop at fourth or third .....

Thank god. He’s looked decent at other clubs but I thought he was poor to average with us

If we are going with a Drinan type CF backed up with a back post finisher like Moore then a left footed left winger who can actually hit the bye line and put a proper cross in for our tall left footed CF if it’s Drinan or our back post scraps finisher (Moore) , then a winger like Cadden is pretty necessary . If not Cadden then somebody of that ilk ....

DZ is a good player but given that he chose Thistle over us last season gives you the impression that we couldn’t match their  £££ . Add to the fact that he’s walking away from them and away from those ££££’s also suggest he has a deal pending . If for example it’s us (doubtfu) then we would be offering pretty much our maximum deal , I could maybe see us doing that for a top striker or centre half but maybe not a wide player . We still have Geggan, McCowan , hopefully Murdock who can all operate wide if need be , we could also operate a 5-3-2 with the fullbacks getting up the flanks ,,

There is no world where Murdoch or geggan should be played wide midfield ever! Geggan is done at this level as much as that pains me to say and Murdoch is an out nd out cm

Should and could are two different things . Murdy can produce the goods all across the midfield but I agree he’s best in the middle of a four man midfield , however he can’t be described as a holding midfielder . He would be your buzzer in Ally McLeods  old formation of a buzzer a banger and a passer .

Geggan will maybe be a pool player covering injuries at right Mack or right midfield or being brought on to help hold a lead in the last few mins etc etc ...

I think a fighting fit Cadden would be better value than DZ and at half the price would leave some £ for what will be our critical areas of concern , centre half and centre mid passer ....

He didn’t exactly set the heather alight last season but I’d be pretty happy if we picked up Dario Zanatta from Partick Thistle.

Partick fans are trying to say he was garbage. However I'd take him as a replacement for Forrest
