21 years go today, Morton faced Airdrie United in the Division 2 season opener at Cappielow.
With the score at 1-1, Referee Somers was injured and one of the assistant took over. Cowboy McCormack came over to the Cowshed and picked out Chic Kavanagh to run the line, to the consternation of the away support.
In truth, Kavanagh had very little to do. The replacement referee was nice enough to award the free kick and penalty which we scored our 2nd and 3rd goals from.
Spawned this famous CD..

What happened to Tarling yesterday? I didn't see any of it and saw he was quite far down for such a big stage favourite.
Also seems to be a criticism of the lack of spectators for a Grand Departure, which is a shame. Also weird the organisers have went for an ITT to finish the race instead of the usual Madrid circuit sprint. Would look interesting maybe in a normal year but in the same year the Tour did the same it makes it look like they have no ideas of their own (apart from starting inside a supermarket next week).
Caught some of his interview after the TT, said he felt flat...
he was sounding a bit down
Where he crashed today near the end was a nasty bit of road to kerb gutter..
If he sounded down yesterday.....

Sorry, I don't think so.
Google throws up nothing,
they were one of many US companies who opened factories in the Inverclyde area.
our tenement got demolished circa '66.
The Joy's site was previously housing where a large community of incoming Irish etc lived in,(possibly called the Backlands) hence the west end of Cappielow being the Wee Dublin End,
