Can you imagine messrs Graham and Coleman going for today’s water break of individual bottles.

Jesus, life was so much simpler then.
Yes, life certainly was much simpler then........
no fancy sprays or physio work for injuries --- just the old magic sponge (probably using the same communal water bucket as the photo)
only 2 subs ----with the inevitable outcome of players half-crocked but still playing out the match and also occasional outfield players having to play in goals if goalie sent-off or injured.
third world facilities for fans (remember the toilets at Boghead?)
Anyway, enough about the good things from yesteryear!

Surely we will see some transfer activity today. Can't believe we will go with 13 players ( does 1 not have covid?) for the game tomorrow. At least a back-up keeper is imperative.
Signing news at 3.00pm according to Twitter
Wonder how many and what positions?

Polie goalie?
According to some sources, his real name is Maciej Kevin Dabrowski. If true (.?) , perhaps we could call him by his real name, Maciej, which I am informed sounds like Magic. Even if not true, I still like the sound of Magic Dabrowski. Perhaps one for our resident journalist?

Goalkeeper Kevin Dabrowski on loan from HiberniSons
If he lives up to half of the hype, and the favourable newspaper reports, then I think we will have a very solid keeper. Older fans can correct me, but this is possibly our first Polish player as well. Wonder what nickname Sons fans will give him?

I seem to recall he went on to become a very senior manager in a Scottish Health Authority.

If this is same Calum Campbell he has certainly done well for himself following his football career. Maybe would also be interested in buying a few lottery tickets!

Bit of late news, just seen that ex-son Andy Geggan also signed for BSC Glasgow a week or so ago. Potentially an excellent signing.

As those of you who live in and around G82 will know, I had a really good chat with Dom Thomas about his time at the Rock in the Lennox this week.
But for those of you who can't pick up a paper copy I'm afraid it's the dreaded website for you. Clicky.
Excellent article -- and you just never know whether a future DFC star will read this and think "I could do the same"

Only playing 13 instead of 18 won't make a difference pal. The 5 games in August and September don't even make a mark on the park. No walking in required. Then you add in the Betfred Cup games that are normally played in July and it puts even more stress on a pitch that is 2 months behind schedule. Add in something else that I'm not at liberty to say then I think the new groundsman needs to be a super hero. #justsaying.

Sons Superhero the new groundsman as predicted earlier by Dumbarton Rock?

You've been the best Dick since Wee Dick.

That's when the dodgy areas thicken up and give it a fighting chance. Plus if there is any extra games on it, which could be in their plans then it could be disaterous. IMHO.

Had a two year holiday after one too many fall outs with AJ( he's still a pal though). Didn't think I'd be closing the gates for the last time today, but heh hoh life goes on. Worked myself all through the summer and hopefully I've left a pitch that will last the winter, I wouldn't put any money on it though. Not my doing I must add. I'll still be looking in, here's hoping you have a cracking season and get back up to the championship. All the best guys. ps just a couple of pics how I've left it.
Thanks for all your skilled work over the years, Buster.

So to get away from the debate about the pronunciation of Ruaridh, does anyone have any thoughts on who we might bring in as a goalkeeper? Loan player? .........CUE THE ANNUAL GOALIE DEBATE

Finally got confirmation from the man himself that Ruaridh Langan's name is pronounced like Rory. It was one of a few things we spoke about last week - and now you can read it all here.

Must admit that I thought it was pronounced like Roo-Ray (similar to Rooney) but Hey-Ho there you go. Main thing that matters is as long as he plays well!
edit . . .couldn't open up the Daily Record article!

Welcome to the new club chaplain, Rev Grant Hamilton. Just to provide a balanced view to some of the above posts, I have absolutely no issue with the club having a chaplain.

I like all of this reminiscing about Boghead. Third World facilities but there were a few things I liked about it, e.g. could change where standing at any time in game (many just changed ends at half-time) I also liked fact that gates were opened up at half-time and anyone could wander in and watch second half of game for free (that is how I started supporting Dumbarton as a poor student) Possibly the clubs can't open gates at half-time any more (health & safety?) but if could then it may be good way of getting some new supporters when we all hopefully get back to the grounds
