I started as a wee 6 year old boy sitting in the stand with my Dad in 1972, used to sit and watch the choir longing for the days when I was old enough to go to games with my pals so I could go in there. These days duly arrived late 70's and I remained in the choir area for a good few years before moving to behind the goals at the Hope Street end and there I remained until they demolished the Old Lady.

I absolutely loved the place, it was an absolute shithole but it was our shithole. All my best memories of watching the Bairns are there, TFS will never match them.

It brings a tear to my eye to think about Brockville. The closeness of the action and camaraderie couldn’t be beaten.

I dislike the TFS for numerous reasons. Stands too far away, lop sided, windy and a reminder of the pompousness of those running the club at the time.

if I won the Euromillions I’d build Falkirk a new, tight 8000 stadium with a bit of atmosphere.

Alan Gow type role then managing the recruitment process and scouting networks he could have done even better.

I remain to be convinced on the Gow agreement.

The majority of cases where the person in charge of recruitment has had links with a player agency has led to a number of expensive wastes of money.
Even Man Utd suffered from this at the end of the Ferguson era. Obviously there are some exceptions like Wolves, but I'm skeptical.

I hope I'm proved wrong and there is no ongoing link to any particular agency.

I also think M & M have done an excellent job on recruitment. If you had said half-way through last season we'd have signed Morrison, Keena and Alston I'd have laughed at you.

Blair must be a better player now than when he left us.  If he's not there is something drastically wrong somewhere.

I don’t think he is and that’s fine.

I’ve seen him a couple of times in the last season and he has been anonymous and on the periphery of most games.

But... at this level he’ll be an asset and should have time from the fans to regain confidence and form hopefully in time for the championship next season.

I thought Jeffries was great at signing players who had a bad reputation and making them significant FFC stalwarts.

Majority did not have bad reputations but had suffered sticky spells after moving down South. McQueen, May, Taylor, Yogi all examples. He then picked up players from lower leagues of England who never fulfilled potential (Cadette).

All were good eggs and even Stainrod was not seen as a trouble maker - we got him due to his club not paying his wage per contract.

Even the higher profile signings like Johnston and MacAvennie didn’t have bad reputations as players or trainers.

Need to have a plan A, B and sometimes C though as otherwise teams will suss you out early on. Keena and Dowds have been signed as starters so i'd Imagine 4-4-2 will be our plan A. 4-2-3-1 the plan B for some games that will maybe be a bit trickier than others. God knows what our plan C is last year it was chucking Lee Miller on.

Don't disagree with having a plan B and I wasn't really suggested we shouldn't. But nearly every successful team I can remember has a set way of playing which they start 90% of games with and this is the approach I'd like to take rather than 4-4-2 one game, 4-2-3-1 next, etc.

I think we'll go 4-4-2 or a 4-2-3-1 in some games with Keena or Dowds dropping to the bench.

I just hope we avoid flipping between the 2 regularly. I'd rather we choose a formation and stick with it for a run of games. I think 4-2-3-1 would probably be good with Connolly / Morrison the wider players in the 3.

  7. A midfield/forward line which includes Alston, Keena and Morrison is an exciting proposition - there could be a few spectacular goals ahead of us this season.
I suspect the latter 2 will split opinion as they'll be erratic, but I think Morrison may have a bit of the Scott Sloan about him (i.e. plays with his head down, unpredictable, frustrating but capable of moments of unexpected class!)

Finally a bit more pace in the team. Hopefully he’s decent at crossing aswell.

I've seen a lot of Morrison and his major drawback is his crossing - its woeful. He has plenty of potential and just needs a huge boost of confidence and he'll knock in a few goals.
Long term I see him as 10 rather than a winger - doesn't have the pace or skill to beat a man out wide.
