  1. Foolish if they go ahead with Fletcher as the only proper striker.

Our punt the ball tactics aren't going to suit Middleton or Mcleod's strengths on the days when Fletcher is unavailable. Watt certainly wasn't perfect but could lead the line alone when required, like against St Johnstone recently.

We are weaker. The soundbites from the club often aren't backed up with reality.

  2. The different Harkes position seems to have suited him and United better last two games. He takes some stick for losing his man in a midfield [which was fair when he dropped back second half against Hearts]. But when he was up on the right, he was pushing them back into their own half, and it was some ball sent to Middleton for the opener.

It's a step in the right direction. A few sketchy defensive moments but overall 'looked like a fitba team' the last couple of weeks.
Not been able to say that after every game this season!

Absolute respect for the ones that came all the way down for that btw. Would have been very easy to make excuses not to go with timing/form/weather, so fair play.

  3. Quite surprising to have no red cards (and only 1 yellow) from two mega-thumpings.

You half expect to see a player wiped out when they start the pisstaking silky stuff.
Or when nothing is going right and frustrations boil over a bit,  a wee kick out/or push and handbags.

Helpful reactions? Not in the specific game, but they are the reactions I would expect to see from players with a bit of heart or professional pride.

Really just drives home how passive and timid the players have been in their acceptance of it.

  4. It reminded me of a game we played years ago against the old Rangers at Hampden.  Birighitti played the Nick Colgan role far too well...

If we are as flatfooted as we are against Livi, Hearts have the players to punish further and run riot.

A poor preseason, a humiliation in Europe and some underwhelming league results (one outlier of a strong performance/score). Absolutely agree that there will be a wee bit of pressure on the St Mirren game.

  5. Even as a joke, the Sevco Masons shite in a United vs. Livi thread is a shite direction to go down.

Especially when Nouble looked so good for yous on the weekend. Would have hyped that up, he'll ragdoll plenty of defenders this season.

The Sibbald element there as well, looking better after each game he's played for United over preseason & Killie. Getting the match sharpness back.

More of a winger than a central striker, even though he plays up front. Is that not how Watkins plays too? Drifts wide/deep?

Doesn't look he bothers too much about linking play etc., as soon as the balls won its like he gets into the box, either with the ball or without it.

Closest I've ever seen any striker get to Adriano's 99 Shot on Pro Evo 6! :D

  7. Can't remember a more pathetic scoreline in the decade I've been going to games.

The problems with the Wilson's era go beyond this one scoreline. But surely this is the one that finally opens the eyes of the club bosses to just how bad things have got.

  8. Losing still stings after being in a reasonably strong position.

I'm completely over the Danny Wilson experiment. He's not salvaging it, it's the same manner of defeats repeatedly.
A fresh start in the summer would be best for all parties.
