  1. Agreed, Oliver is the most suited to playing that role and has taken his chances to force himself back into the side with his recent performances. Also shows other fringe players if they knuckle down and make an impact in the minutes they do get opportunities will come along to get back into the side.
  2. I’ve never seen anybody from our team of media volunteer’s posting on here or on an Alloa forum for that matter. They always use official club platforms to communicate with fans which is probably the correct and professional way to operate. It’s a new group of people in charge of the coverage and so will be a bit of a work in progress, any slight issues will sort themselves out as time goes on but by in large I’ve been quite happy with the stuff so far.
  3. I think it’s a mixture between arrogant know it all and an attempted veiled dig at the the club since his team and club can can’t measure up to us on any other aspect. As Bainsfordbairn says there’s normally a level of professional courtesy between people working in the same industry (certainly is in my line of work) where they will communicate within they’re own circles to trouble shoot and constructively help each other out (particularly when it’s sombody just starting out) but you do always get an arse hole or two that love the sound of they’re own voices and they tend to eventually end up being ignored / shuned by the more normal thinking more civilised people.
  4. Oliver played there most of last season and for a period was doing quite well. Oliver will play, I don’t think Allan is up to it.
  5. Mathematically the league is in Falkirk's hands
  6. I’m actually the same to be honest, disappointing it’s apparently not reciprocated.
  7. Falkirk council?!…Well that quite obviously could not be further from the truth!
  8. Quite disappointing that, most Falkirk fans I know either don’t care one way or the other or in fact actually would support Steny as a 2nd team. Wonder why the hatred toward Falkirk? Maybe Mr Telfer could enlighten us?…..
  9. Found that odd as well, I’ve never really looked at Steny as a rival. Certainly feel no malice towards the club, the two clubs have always operated at different levels and have never really been in the same leagues for any length of time (can’t actually ever remember us being in the same division) for the fixture to form as a “derby” type game in the same way the Dunfermline games feel. In fact, I don’t have a second team as such but if I did I’d go as far to say it might even be Stenhousemuir, certainly don’t view them on the premise there is some kind of manufactured rivalry there. Before they disappeared down the pyramid I’d have presumed Stenhousemuirs natural derby type game would have been against the Shire with the two clubs mostly operating at the same level up to that point?
  10. After Oliver’s two crackers from the bench recently I’d say he deserves the start in this instance.
  11. Sounds like the boys out on loan at the moment are doing particularly well. Stats and reviews have all looked good so far this season, perhaps next season McGlynn will look to integrate them into the senior squad.
  12. Great to see Steny going so well, a team I always have a soft spot for and look out for they’re results although I’ve realised in recent years(to my surprise) many of they’re fans seem to feel quite the opposite way about us for some reason.
  13. If they are all moved on it’s imperative they are replaced with players that are considerably better which is easier said than done as we’ve seen in the past pre John Mcglynn. Keeping continuity and harmony within the squad with two or three additions of quality at a point when things are going well I would not see as complacency but more a measured and calculated approach to things. We’ve had the revolving door approach before and I think a period of calm continuity should it be possible would be not bad thing in the short term.
  14. I also don’t think the loan signings necessarily need to be pushed out the door either, in and ideal world bar the three players I mentioned I’d like to see the squad kept together rather than any major surgery. Obviously if we are unable to persuade players to re-sign or return then we will need replacements but that’s a different discussion altogether.
  15. I’m far more concerned with keeping the squad together than ripping it up to be honest. If McKay , Lawal, McGinn are the only three that leave and we replace them with better and keep the rest including the guys on loan I’d say that squad is easily good enough to compete at the top end of the championship. It’s harsh to say the players on the bench aren’t good enough because they have almost all shown quality and contributed this season at various times. Continuity breeds consistency and I’d be wary of willingly ripping up a winning side in an attempt to try and find better players that may not be out there. (Only question mark regarding the current 11 for me is the goalkeeping position however I’m happy as I presume Mcglynn is to wait and see how they both perform between now and the end of the season before making a decision, perhaps trying to keep one of them then bringing in another keeper if sufficient quality is available might be the way to go)
  16. Most of those are squad players and who says every one of those players will necessarily leave (if they do they would obviously be replaced), I’d actually elect to keep a few. The only one who looks like will be gone is Morrison and even that is up for debate pending which league we are in. Point stands that we don’t need to do much in the way of changing our best 11 to be competing at the proper end of that championship table.
  17. Presuming we keep the full squad together. I really don’t think we would, 2 or 3 that are quality enough to go straight into the first 11 and that team easily competes with a Partick thistle or Raith Rovers or Airdrie looking at they’re respective squads. Airdrie are sitting in 4th at the moment with more or less the same team that finished 7 points behind us (all be it eventually doing us in the playoff)
  18. That might well be the case but it’s also most definitely compounded by the differential in quality of player within the two squads. If I’m looking at Hamiltons best 11 I’m only seeing two maybe three players that gets a game in this Falkirk side.
  19. I found these comments quite hilarious at the time, they now sound even more ridiculous looking at how the season has progressed!
  20. Wake up, the club is now operating a full time budget with already having signed previously a number of high profile players who most definitely didn’t step down the leagues for less money than they were on to go play for the illustrious Cove Rangers! All of this with crowds of 500 folk, without external funding the club is not big enough to sustain current levels of spending. It’s quite clear in these situations as we’ve seen plenty times before when/if the people injecting cash pull the plug the expenditure becomes unsustainable and it can become pretty serious pretty quickly. Scottish football is littered with examples of this.
  21. Satisfying! Really entertaining and 2nd half we really could have scored more. Also thought Shanley looked good again when he came on, links the game really well similar to McIver, the ball doesn’t bounce away from him as his touch is excellent. Looked lively and receives the ball very well. Think he could be a good one.
  22. Although on the face of it Rankin isn’t doing a terrible job up to this point taking the season in isolation. In a lot of other seasons Hamiltons current points total would have them top, the fact they are not is more to do with how exceptionally consistent Falkirk have been. I’d say the jury is still out on Rankin as a manager, even if Hamilton don’t go up patience and a second season to refine his squad in the same way Mcglynn was given a second year may be all he needs for everything to click. If Hamilton were to pull the trigger early and make a bad appointment in the way we were guilty of doing things could easily spiral with an extended stay in this division and multiple managers/squads of players expensively coming and going without that necessarily improving anything.
