  6. Win, lose or draw, Carlisle United award their Man of the Match with a takeaway curry after the game. Joe Riley’s face when he received a Korma after their 2-1 defeat last night is brilliant!

If your club could award anything as a MOTM award, what would it be and why?

There's Renny Crescent and Tailyour Crescent Montrose, named after Henry Renny-Tailyour who scored Scotland's first ever international goal and also won the FA Cup in 1875 with the Royal Engineers.

I would name a street after John McGovern who won the European Cup twice with Nottingham Forest and was born in Montrose although he moved away when he was a kid.

Thanks Aidan, will mention this on the pod next week so keep a look out!

Abercromby Avenue marks the achievements of 1987 Scottish Cup winning captain Billy Abercromby.

Fitzpatrick Way has been named after current chief executive Tony Fitzpatrick, who was also part of that 1987 team.

Striker Mark Yardley, a key player for the club from 1995 to 2003, is remembered through Yardley Avenue.

McGarry Terrace recognises forward Steven McGarry, who helped the club to the 2000 First Division title, as well as his late father Tam, a well-known supporter of the Paisley team.

Finally, Saints Street celebrates the nickname for St Mirren supporters.

Two other streets of the development, North Bank and Cairter's Corner, have been named after well-known sections of Love Street, the club's stadium from 1894 to 2009.

    That’s brilliant!

In the Tulloch area of Perth (not far from McDiarmid Park), there's a few streets that have a suspiciously 1980's Aberdeen theme going on.

They decided to use the list of past provosts to pick the names for the new streets. One councillor who was obviously a bit of a no-righter was an Aberdeen fan and picked certain ones from the list.

So we have Simpson Place, McLeish Place and Hewat Place (obviously spelt differently).

Haha that’s great! I had a look on google maps.. that same councillor must have enjoyed a dram or two as just round the corner we have Talisker and Lagavulin Place! 🥃 🥃

  10. Right guys, I’m looking for your input for this one.

In Ferniegair, a small village between Hamilton and that well known Celtic enclave Larkhall, theres a small estate named after footballing legends. There’s O’Donnell  Dr, Cooper Cres and Stein Terrace. So reply below with your answers..
    1. Do you have a football themed estate near you and if so who’s in it?
    2. If you were to name streets in a new estate who would be included? ie. Charnley close.

We’ll try and mention as many replies on next weeks Auchterarder Chippy podcast!
