Yes, that's probably fair. No danger they'll be 'donating' to the EU anyway

I wouldn't be against flogging some to RoI seeing as we have a CTA with them.  Depending on what vaccines we have a surplus of that might break the EU's own procurement rules though.  That would be comical if it did come about.

Just means they won't look to profit, not really a donation either though.

I suspect it will be combination of the two.  I'd reckon we'll donate a load to Covax for the poorer countries and flog the rest off at cost to countries that aren't skint.

I agree with the points about politicians in the EU, but lets remind ourselves that Matt Hancock bought more vaccines than we required because he watched the movie Contagion, not because he's some sort of genius planner. I'm wary of heaping praise on the government when that's the justification for hoarding vaccines.

Not sure the government is hoarding vaccines.  Not to say they potentially won't in the future but no evidence of it at the moment.  All the rhetoric has been that we'll distribute our excess vaccines (once we have some) through Covax.

Would be a backward step imo.  Geologically Scotland is a bit of Africa that fell off and migrated northwards.  Been there done that basically.

I thought I saw a documentary years ago which said Scotland originally broke away from Canada?

Who knows.  It’s all theoretical.  I’m guessing if you asked multiple geologists you’d get multiple answers.  The Africa theory is the one I remember from school.  I’d rather be an offshoot of Africa than Canada though.  Africa being the origination of man.  Canada being...

    ...still thinking...

    ...nope...

...what actually is the point of Canada?  They should do something useful with it and give it back to the Polar Bears.

That far right arsehole Bolsonaro continuing to do a great job..

I don’t deny the guy is an arsehole but I’m always sceptical of these types of claims.  Put simply I don’t have faith in the accuracy of the recorded figures for a lot of countries.  That being said I’d be surprised if Brazil’s death toll isn’t actually higher than officially announced.

Incredible the lengths those at the very top will go to to avoid saying "we were wrong"

Anyone know the state of the vaccination programme in Texas?  Close to 350 thousand a day in a single state seems like they’re powering through even though Texas will be one of the most populous states.

I wouldn't say it was "the oldies" wanting back at my work either. The older employees generally have large houses and sufficient space to work from home in comfort - they aren't the ones at their kitchen tables or working from makeshift desks.

I’m finding a bit of a geographical split at our place.   The London based guys are keen to get back in the office even if part time.  There’s the after work social aspect of it and they don’t have space at home for a decent home working setup.  The Scottish guys typically drive to work and generally can afford bigger houses so have more space to WFH.

He is right, just the wrong time. Hastings scored a monster pelanty from about the half-way line in that game, but I'm fairly sure it was in the first half.

Cheers.  I had it in my head it was towards the end of the game but you're right.  It was in the first half.

  9. Watching BBC Hardtalk from the other night .  Jean-Claude Juncker is being interviewed.

Saying the EU Commission failure to procure vaccines is because they are so budget conscious and the rollout failure is nothing to do with the Commission and entirely down to member states own failings.

    Proper lunatic stuff.

Those two yellow cards in the last 10 minutes in Paris went a long way to evening up the score.

No they didn’t.  Didn’t help us with Liam Williams foul play.  You know the kind that Finn was red carded for today.  They’ve had all the luck/decisions possible.

Each win in Paris since Telfer has been totally mind-blowing in its own way - the Toonie Flip, the incredible attacking performance in 99 and now this. All we need to do now is get the Irish monkey off our back. I also remember how we kept them as our pet for around 10 years in the 80s and 90s

When was it Hastings put that penalty over from our own half in Paris near the end?  Game was pretty much done but that monster kick sealed it.

You don't have to go far back on this thread to find folk saying Scotland haven't made progress under Townsend.

Away wins in Wales, England and France inside 6 months, back-to-back 6 Nations wins against the best French team in a decade, first time we've won in London and Paris in the same season since 1926 and literally one tap-tackle (or non-shite referee) from winning the Six Nations, away win against Australia, a monstering of Australia at home, an oh-so-close against New Zealand and a winning record against England over 4 years. And all while playing really watchable rugby.

Do they not remember the previous 16 years?

We should be sucking every scrap of enjoyment from this time, because when this generation goes we might have another couple of decades in the wilderness.

You forgot group stage world cup exits and losing loads of 6 nations games that tbh we should have been winning.

isolated results are OK.  We’ve never had consistent results.  Teams aren’t remembered for a winning record against England.  Titles and Grand Slams make memories.  This season was a huge missed opportunity with France the only real class side we had to beat.

France claims UK will struggle to source second Covid jabs

    https://www.theguardian.com/society/2021/mar/26/france-uk-struggle-source-second-covid-jabs-eu-blackmail?

I haven't paid too much attention to the UK v EU vaccination squabbles, and while the UK Gov have continually said they are confident about having enough supplies, what happens if we don't? It was always the case we'd rely more on the Oxford/AZ vaccine as the roll-out progresses, but are we really at the stage where the EU are going to block supplies to the UK and lead to a potential problem with people getting their second jag?

The EU don’t hold all the cards.  They need material from us to manufacture Pfizer.  I’d hope we’d have been pointing that out diplomatically for the last few days.

If they decide to go full hardball I’d happily f**k them over for their Pfizer production.

No complaints with the yellow. We lost 6 penalties in a row and Barnes warned us.

Discipline has went to pot and needs fixed.

Agree to a point but missing all the knock ons and forward passes in the build up to those penalties means we should never have been in those situations
