  1. We have a squad of 20 currently that’s pretty big for us. We aren’t signing another 4 for 6/7 to sit in the stand and watch
  2. if we are signing 2/3 more players we need to move on 2/3 as squads already big who’s going realistically?
  3. Well that looked like a pumping going off that. Could have been 4/5 on another day. Queens yous look good but hope you lose next Saturday
  4. Enjoyed that read and agreeing with the most of it. I’ll add my opinion in now on the current situation. i was all for giving the management team the benefit of the doubt at the end of the last season to rectify the issues from The previous season. but now I think the management team should of stood down. We had a good nucleus of a solid squad but enough players needing signed for a small rebuild giving a new manager some movement to work with and put their own stamp on things. Who would have been keen on the job ? I don’t know. this season we’ve made some decent signings (that were clearly needed.. attackers) but some glaring issues haven't been rectified and they’ve had 5/6 months knowing this (a left back and defensive cover) We’ve went into a cup campaign knowing qualifications could make us some good money with barely any fit defenders and an unbalanced squad and then went into a league campaign which will be our toughest in the same state. We don’t know our current best starting 11 and the squad doesn’t seem itself (don’t know what it is but somethings not right). The promoted teams already looking settled into the championship after good cup campaigns and both getting a win early in the league will boost there confidence and push them on where as we are still sorting out issues out. And of course the usual dick shenanigans of suspect tactics, subs and general team selections. Most teams seem to be settled with their transfer business and just be looking to add to the squads where as we need specific players in specific positions. i don’t doubt they are trying to sort these issues but maybe it was possibly best to part ways after keeping us up after a very difficult season and starting this season afresh. I suppose time will tell. eta - I’m not saying for him to be sacked now this is just my opinion
  5. As a club we are pretty terrible at set pieces and rarely beat a first man so slater slots right in
  6. Tbh I had optimism after Dundee then Montrose and looked how it panned out need to have back to back positive results before I have optimism again not after a better second half
  7. Would have liked to tick lesser Hampden off the stadium visited list but it does sound like a terrible day out. and I don’t fancy is getting a positive result 3-1 QP bird scoring for us and the defensive frailty costing us again
  8. Rather keep steel at rightback and just put gold to left he’s played there before for us but yeah gold isn’t the answer he’s just the most logical solution atm
  9. Surprising how long it has taken to be linked with him given it’s such an obvious option
  10. With hammy still no date set and potential setback that could yet happen. We should be signing a left back. This possibly could be little’s last year so sign a left back and next season hammy moves into cb and we have a left back that can slot straight in. honestly baffles and really frustrates me that we haven’t done anything about this in 5 months. We are a championship side playing right sided midfield at left back persistently and who is so right footed it’s ridiculous
  11. Loan window closes end of September I’m sure. you happy to give all are rivals an even bigger head start
  12. He’s played for just as a central midfielder wouldn’t say defensive role or attacking just all round. I think his game is more suited to an attacking role or wide with his energy and press. last night slater was the base of midfield like Montrose with balde all over the shop obviously worked miles better against poorer opposition last week. We needed discipline last night and had nothing of the sort hence when got run over and through for 45 mins at ease. slater is fine for the base of the midfield if we will have plenty of the ball but in games like last night we need a disciplined no nonsense midfielder who’s only interest is to defend and breakup play
  13. Balde was not signed to play defensive midfield balde obviously has abundance of energy so needs to be box to box or used in a more attacking way pressing the opposition or wide. Montrose game in the shape we played was fine against that quality but last night there was no chance for him. United passed it round our midfield then waltz’d through them
  14. Who’d have thought our defensive frailties would be our weakness. wide open, passive and just totally rubbish. United have been good but f**k me we’ve been absolutely woeful. sign defensive cover I.e a left back, central defender and a defensive minded midfielder asap Arbroath fc
  15. United selling out the allocation hoping for a good start has potential for us to sneak a win and send the United fans home raging. but then again thinking sensibly I feel our defensive frailty will cost us and United will win. I don’t think it will be a big win maybe 1-2/3 with a late goal to kill it off. looking forward to a packed gayf and being on the tele and getting the league business underway.
  16. Have an absolutely no idea who will go down but I have a feeling a few teams will be involved obviously us airdrie favs. We’ve massively improved in attacking areas but for once it’s the opposite end of the park that concerns me until we’ve have concrete signings in I’ll still be unsure.
  17. Natural order restored front 3 very good and even turan scoring sliding tackles what a day
  18. McKenna scored mainly all his goals and won leagues poty playing the 10 behind nouble
  19. I’d say he’s more of a winger tbf from previous knowledge of him
  20. Must needed attacking width happy with that
  21. I’ll take a left winger and a left back please
  22. We won’t be signing another striker this window
  23. We should have comfortably beat Cowden regardless if they have improved on last season or not. We are a championship side and they are lowland league. That manner of performance was also very worrying as we weren’t great and they looked better than us at times. 2 points or not it should have been 3 and few goals to help the GD if it was to be important or not. defeat to st Mirren was probable but again the manner of defeat was rubbish. Forfar and Montrose have already shown they are in decent shape with a couple decent results so we really need to show up and massively improve performances. we won’t qualify now but we definitely need to play to win and gain confidence and momentum for the start of the league campaign because it’s a difficult start.
  24. Aye no sure if I’ll go tonight or not think I’ll wait to see what team is before I make my decision could see something wild being picked. id go for adams Stewart little tob gold slater McKenna stowe Allan balde mcintosh
