Anyone got any idea when we’re likely to hear the venues for Croatia/Poland?
Looking to get flights booked before prices fly up (pardon the pun) and it’s proving difficult to ensure we leave enough time to potentially get from one end of the country to another for a flight home.
No word on Poland, but Croatia have announced that our game is in Zagreb.

Is it too early to know who benefits from the nation's league from us qualifying automatically?
Looks like Finland get our play off place if they don't qualify automatically.

Those results would also leave Spain on a maximum of 16, and we'd win the group on the head-to-head.I stand corrected then, wasn't taking their results into account.

Think we qualify with even a point in Spain
Not quite. A point would put us on 16, so if we lose our last two games and Norway win all their other games then they can also finish on 16.

We could probably keep this thread alive til next month. Beat Spain in October and we qualify, but if we don't win then Norway v Spain on 15th October is the main match. We qualify if Spain win or draw. If Norway win then we then would need to get 2 points from the final two matches.

We're in a better place now but there are shades of EURO 92 qualifying here as we needed Bulgaria and Romania to draw on the very last qualifying match in order for us to get to Sweden. At least this time I don't have to follow the results via Ceefax.

Starting XI of that friendly was:
McGregor
Whittaker
Bardsley
Berra
G. Caldwell
Cowie
D. Fletcher
Morrison
Miller
Mackie
Robson
There may well have been a few call offs seeing as it was a friendly, but our current starting 11 is much better than that team. And we don't have to put up with with Levine as manager.

Let’s hope it’s not a repeat of the 100th anniversary St Valentine’s Day massacre
I'll happily take that if other results go our way and we qualify for EURO 2024.

As I understand it, he called off from the u-21's so he could rest and prepare for the new season with Liverpool. That was on Jun-13 - the week after the Spanish training camp.
The motivations etc are open to speculation, so you can draw your own conclusions, but it's my opinion that if Steve Clarke had called Doak up he'd not have turned that chance down to optimise for Liverpool's new season.
That's a leap, but if true would point to Steve Clarke choosing not to call him up for whatever reason where we re-enter the world of speculation.
Let's be honest, when Scott Gemmill is the manager of the Under-21s I'm just surprised there hasn't been more mass withdrawals from the squad.

A win in Cyprus and Spain beating Georgia on Matchday 5, then a draw between Georgia and Norway in Oslo the night we play England does it. I think.
You're correct, those are the exact set of results we need to qualify while playing England.

We do seem to a young but impressive team for these qualifiers.
Unfortunately our U21 manager is a complete buffoon.

Whats the set up for next year then? draw is october I see. Would we play 2 games in March, June, Sept and Oct then the play offs would be November?
Qualifying matches in March, June, September, October and November. Play offs in March 2024.

Any idea of how good they are? Sounds like a tough draw but I'm basing that solely on the reputation of the men's team.
Don't know enough about their womens team to say how good they are. I do know they are ranked higher than PAOK and Ferencvaros so will likely be a tough test to qualify.

Rangers get Benfica in the final Champions League qualifying round, first leg at home on 20/21 September.

Excellent 4-0 win for Rangers over PAOK to progress to the next round. Glasgow City lost 1-0 to Servette in their third play play off game.

Lucky you.

No wonder Aaron Hickey withdrew from Under 21 squads if this is the garbage he'd have to deal with.

Semi final at home and final away is exactly the same as the Euros play off, it's nothing new to us. I just hope we can win in 90 minutes as I don't want to repeat the penalty shoot outs again.

I see Celtic have now in fact pulled this top and have the Dublin version for sale on their site now instead
Even better is that they have reduced it in price from £55 to £54

If we'd kept to the days of giving squad numbers based on the number caps players had then it would look something like this
1 Gordon
2 Marshall
3 Robertson
4 Forrest
5 Hanley
6 McGinn
7 McGregor
8 Armstrong
9 Mctominay
10 McKenna
11 Tierney
12 O'Donnell
13 Christie
14 Fraser
15 Dykes
16 Gallagher
17 Cooper
18 Hendry
19 Fleck
20 Taylor
21 Adams
22 McLaughlin
23 Nisbet
24 Patterson
25 Gilmour
