Thought the performance in the first half was ok, 442 but there was more structure around what we were doing tonight - played Cammy narrow on the left and King narrow right to allow Church and Taggs to provide the width from full back. That worked on the right but Church doesn't offer enough going forward for that to work. Definitely noticed MacIver having to run down the left to offer something.

Second half was very poor. The equaliser was the least that East Fife deserved and probably couldn't have grudged them a winner right at the death.

Looking for positives, Hogarth looks very comfortable with the ball at his feet (although his distribution went a bit wayward after halftime), Stanger impressed again at the back and Miller looks a very tidy footballer. Thought Cammy also played well, although you could see him growing frustrated in the second half.

A lot of faces missing tonight which would have no doubt added to the performance. The set up tonight would have been ideal for wee Kev to play inside off the right with Taggs outside him, and I could imagine Robbo and Miller working well when we play the 2 holding midfielders.

Left back remains an issue that hasn't been addressed since last season - frustrating seeing a kid bombing up and down from left back for East Fife all night who would have fitted our shape perfectly...

    Williamson should have been kept..

So many errors in the line-up as mentioned. Durnan rightfully comes back in, for it to be in Graham’s place is really poor. Mendy had a whole host of comical errors last night. You just wonder what Andy is thinking sitting on the bench thinking watching that.

Agree with the above about Boyd. No doubt been one of the better players this season but been very meh recently. It got to the stage last night all he was doing was making silly fouls out of frustration. Not sure what the thought process was for dropping both Cawley and Scougall. It isn’t if he would’ve been picked out of a testimonial sort of selection, Cawley has been good for us recently and should’ve started.

Despite poor team selection, we should’ve been at least two up at half-time. Albeit, we didn’t even test the goalkeeper. So complacent and tame in front of goal. You knew Falkirk couldn’t play as badly as they did in the first half but we made it very easy for them. We went from Falkirk fans boo’ing their own team, to being so buoyed by one goal. Was very worrying how we just collapsed after that.

Don’t really see where the management go from this. Our slim chances of making a promotion play-off push ended last night. I think we will pick up enough points to stay up, not too worried about that. Just long term, not sure where this team goes. Not much plan or optimism when you look on the pitch.

We are ok in flashes. Riley-Snow had a few decent passes. If Sammon scores one of those, Boyd too, and we get the first goal, it could be totally different. We don’t and we end up get scudded. Pretty grim.

Lose on Saturday, then surely, surely …

It's all good saying this but if they take their chance in the first couple of minutes the game's over before we even get those chances...

  3. It’s horrible hoping for your team to get beat for that skud of a manager to get his books. Even mentioning battling the drop just shows how far we have fallen. I don’t know about others but if we had kept PG and gave him half the money that Mr Blobby has been given, I don’t think we would be in the position that we are the now.

Great result yesterday. Once we weathered the 15min storm at the start (where we could easily have been 2 or 3 down) we grew onto the game. For a change, we got a goal ahead, and didnt look like losing the game after that.
I do think we still need a couple of players, left back and someone up front to create. There were many positives, Niang excelled in a more forward role in midfield and Sammon had a good game up front.

Have a perfectly capable left back in Williamson but who knows what’s going on with that

Cue Williamson then.......oh we can't he's on loan.

Still can’t get my head round this. The young boy coped more than well in the championship against some good teams and has been shipped out when I personally think he’s miles ahead of who we’re playing at the moment.

Well, that was poor and certainly brings us back to earth after the Livingston game. In the first 15 minutes we probably should have scored 2 or 3, but after that Brechin gradually came into the game and our performance was poor.

The midfield failed to really get a grip of the game and for all the chances that we created our strikers never looked like they were going to finish one - perhaps loading up on front players with poor scoring records isn't such a great idea.

Between that result and the Cowden one it begins to look like Livingston were indeed very badly hit by illness when they played us. We have to hope that these two results are just blips and that there will be more to come once the season starts, but it's not looking great at the moment.

We can hope all we want! His signings have been horrendous and it’s beginning to show.

Thankfully you said should be getting in. From what I've seen the 2 LB's are no where near Dick standard. Indeed Williamson played 8 or 9 games in the Championship, I don't believe either of them have been near that level.

From Championship to LL is not a well thought out scenario. Great that he will hopefully get game time but from the article in the addy he only stayed as he believed he could nail a place in the team and gain experience in division 1. In fact I recall Kieran making a comment about other options, bet he regrets not taking them up and being pumped to the LL.

I think it's good for Evans as he's had no games and needs that time to develop.

Be interested to see what happens with those 2 and Jamiesons move. O Donnell next to go?

I think his time could well be over and that's a real shame as has been rightly said, not had any real opportunity.

I agree with this in relation to Williamson. However, he’s still only 18 and playing every week for BSC in a competitive league will do no harm. Who knows though, come the next couple of months if Church continues how he’s playing, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him back in the team.

Just found it on the site. Evans as well. O Donnell will be shipped out next! Pretty crap choice of club in lowland league more so for Williamson. Thought he looked solid in the champioship then gets dropped down two leagues for a guy who does not inspire confidence and struggled to get games at EF and Dumbarton.😲🤔

Absolutely ludicrous! Wouldn’t be surprised to see him back within the next month. What the hell is the manager thinking?

Wait 400 odd days to get to a game and get served up that dross.

I know we are talking about the first competitive game of the season and it’s easy to get carried away, but there’s some serious alarm bells already.

Although there were a few decent individual performances (Taggs, Robbo, Boyd and Sammon in the first half), there seemed a real lack of structure in terms of the team as a whole and what they were trying to achieve - and that’s been the strength of the team in recent years. Bar the goal chopped off at the end, we never looked like scoring tonight to be honest.

From the 2 games I’ve seen him, Church looks a waste of a jersey at left back - any joy we were having tonight was coming from Taggs getting down his wing to support Cawley in the 1st half and Scougall in the 2nd to double up on their left back and there was acres of space down the opposite flank for Church to do the exact same (especially seeing as Boyd cut inside every time he went forward) yet he seemed totally disinterested in supporting the attacks. Every time the ball went to him it was stopped and played back to Durnan (another who looks a liability to be honest!). When Armstrong came on it took him all of 1 minute to get down the wing and stick a decent ball over.

Not sure why Cawley and Scougall were swapped over in the 2nd half as they were playing well where they were in the first half.

Hopefully there’s a response at the weekend, because a performance like tonight and we will be in for an absolute humping against Livi.

I am totally bewildered as to why Church has been brought in, whilst starting, when Williamson showed he was more than capable in the games he played in the Championship last season?

Stream quality was brilliant to be fair.

Sammon took his goal well and there was some decent link up play in the first half, and Scougall and Cawley looked dangerous breaking on the counter, but defensively it’s still a bit of a shambles.

Stupid foul from Church for their 1st and he looked pretty suspect all half to be honest

    Suspect… and that’s being fair!

Good to see Liam Dick stay in the Championship with Raith, rather than the rumoured Falkirk. A steady, reliable player who really came on this season despite our defensive frailties. A good option in the Championship. Opens the door up for Williamson to have a real impact this season.

Do you think Williamson will be the 1st choice left-sided defender for this season?

I'd resign all 3. Williamson and O'Donnell have massive potential, especially in league 1.  Williamson played 9 games, not bad for a17 year old, we've not had that young a player for years, Sheerin??

O'Donnell deserved a far greater amount than the 4 he got. I fear Grant and Hetherington were what halted his progress.

Don't know much about Evans but if he loses the man bun he'll be in with a shout!🤣

Good amount of games for a 17 year old in the Championship! Interesting to see where he ends up...

Big fan of Lucas Williamson. Like Father Barry says, he’s just grown so much this season. Such an improvement to that chaotic (for the team) debut in the Stenny game. The goal too against Ayr just gave him such a confidence booster to really take the game to teams. Going forward, League One is going to be a lot better for him with much more freedom. He’s clearly a player who wants to go forward, think he’s played a lot further forward in the reserves. His defensive positioning has improved too over the piece too. Aided by the fact he’s normally played in a back 5 and had Liam Dick protecting him and him and Andy talking him through the game. Fear too that he hasn’t gone unnoticed. Kinda blew up after that screamer Vs Ayr.

O’Donnell is one who I think could play a little bit more next season. I didn’t agree with some claims that he should have played more than he did this season. He did well in spells but he has a lot to learn. Technically though, very good. Think he’ll be given the opportunity to kick on next season and definitely good enough to take it. Be an interesting one. Could go either way. Hopefully not the Adam Martin way.

No idea about Liam Evans. Up top is an area we need to strengthen this season as I don’t expect any of Inness Cameron, Liam Buchanan or Robert Thomson to return. So let’s see where he is in the pecking order when a new manager signs a whole new frontline!

Is Williamson the eldest out the three?
