Just accept it’s not happening! The hope every day is too much... fully expecting to be raging a few days before the league kicks off as we are still sitting in the same positon as we were before the Albion Rovers game 😂

*Not just saying this every day in the hope of being proved wrong 👀

Players should be off Sunday/Monday so that would be prime time for signings . Gives them Tuesday to Saturday on the training field with their new team mates before the encounter with the great unwashed from the north .

  2. Its a bummer no game on Saturday however from an Ayr United perspective (the team) it gives Hoppy a 12 day preparation window with regards to the Killie game . It will allow any players with niggles to get rested , more work to be done on shape and set piece and of course integrate any new faces . The down side is we are still blending the team into a style of play ,definitely a work in progress . However Killie are pretty much in the same boat with 15 new players . So the break might just work in our favour

I'm kinda worried they're not going to be great superstars in the making that we had hoped for. Getting beat 4-2 by rangers youths doesnt fill me with confidence

Don't forget Rangers youth skelped us 5-1 one preseason with a certain Mr Kelly getting a hat trick in about 20 mins . I think we signed him on loan  after the game . What a player !

Unfortunately, it hasn’t yet clicked in all areas, but still a lot to be happy about medium to long term.

We don’t have a lot of what other established championship clubs have, which is alternative revenue streams and larger staff numbers which can all be seen as ‘investments’ and ‘essential’ by some, and ‘non-essential’ by others.

I feel we are trying to establish ourselves still as a championship club, and probably need to grow the off pitch team at the same time, to try and grow all aspects ( communication, engagement, sponsorship etc etc etc ).

There is lots that has improved and got better, but of course there is still a way to go.

Needs money and investment, and that looks like what the chairman is doing - not just throwing money at the players, but building up a much better infrastructure to self support and generate more income over short, medium and long term.

Just need a bit of luck with new signings to help keep us fans happy on the pitch side of things

    Bang on the money .

Jacobs has been out for over a year though, think it was a leg break in training. It's a similar situation to Lithgow and De Vita where guys that served the club well long term took a bad injury and struggled to get to the level they were at before. Previously though his job was just running about the midfield as a CM/CDM and just crunching folk and breaking the game up. Limited on the ball, scored a decent free kick a few seasons ago though but has a mistake in him when he's on the ball.

Sounds very like our own Ross Docherty ,who we lost to Thistle . The lad might be a good fit for Ayr if he has fully recovered .

If he's off it'll be to a far better team than us. He's our best midfielder, absolutely no chance he would drop a division. He's also under contract for the season but it'd take 300k+ to even get close. He took a knock in the last game of the season and has been recovering since then, just left out as a precaution where we can afford to. He travelled and trained in our pre-season training camp in Spain

Okay that's very clear and to the point . Any idea who the two are that Martindale was talking about on Saturday ,when he alluded to two players going out and loan .

No outfield trialists in the squad last night in the last friendly, not being able to play trialists in the cup means any player we sign has to be ready made. We can’t rely on youth loans with the exception of Kelly, we may actually have to pay a fee for someone….

I was just thinking much the same . Wouldn't be against putting a small amount out on a younger player from the lower leagues . However if its a six foot four centre forward we are after then the chances are they'll be coming up from England and  will have to be paid the rate .

We have 25 days until the Killie game so there is still plenty of time .

Someone said the St Mirren game was at half ten this morning but unsure if that's true or not.

In other news the fantasy dream of Stephen Kelly can be extinguished i think as he played for Rangers last night and was one of the best players on the park.

As someone said on here recently too with McCall being best chums with McAllistar Partick would be the only place i could see him going to in this league on loan if anything was to happen.

Strips a bit meh, personally i prefer more white that black but just my personal choice, might grow to it more when seeing it in person. Also it's almost identical to the one we had about 6 seasons ago when we got relegated from the championship under McCall

Also the mickey mouse cup draw is this afternoon at 2, biggest waste of a cup ever, only thing they did to make it marginally exciting was the hope of playing a team in england, ireland or wales and they've removed that factor of it by replacing them with shitty prem b teams full of kids, that just takes the mick out of all the professional clubs in the competition IMO

I think Rangers want to loan him out until Christmas ...

Ironically yous have probably seen more of him than us. He was joint 5th top scorer in this league last season. I remember he scored for yous away at Inverness and then got injured?

Alloa despite getting relegated got 6/7 goals for them which is not bad considering.

He’s got 2in2 during pre season. I thought he wasnt technically very good but more of a penalty box striker than a player who links up well.

Is the boy Dre Wright still at Ayr ?

I'd say he may well be your best players this season .
