Your pundits were giving it - Kane is dropping deep tonight and dragging the Italians all over the place. England lose and Southgate gets blamed for playing Kane so deep.

Quite amusing that the system that got England to the final is now under scrutiny. To the surprise of absolutely no one.

Yeah .. all true .. thats the thing with the "goals win games, defences win tournaments" thing .. when it fails it makes you look a right unimaginative c**t. when it works its garlands all round.

He got credit for sticking to his gameplan .. but now it blew up .. ???

Nah, f**k them. They treat us with utter contempt so I will take a massive amount of pleasure in watching their hearts being broken yet again. It nourishes me.

ffs .. trust me, only moonhowlers are talking about Scotland tonight. Why would England care about how well the Scotland team is doing more than, say, Celtic care about how Falkirk are doing. Yeah, they are close by but .. ffs.. get real ..

Did England have a shot on target after their goal, scored in the 2nd minute of a cup final being played at home, their first in 55 years, that went for a full 120 minutes?

Harry Kane didn't have a touch in the Italian box all night. Not one. That's mental.

Probably a discussion for another day .. but Southgate played Kane so deep it was strange .. all the "experts" saying he was out of form but not seeing he was the top of the diamond/midfield/whatever .. he only ever got into the box when he fed a player wide and continued his run into the box .. where he scored four times.

Otherwise he was just in the midfield mix and wasted.

I did actually thanks mate. Had a fucking great night, and will remember it for years x

OK, Im sorry .. if this was a night you will "remember it for years" the, well, maybe get a girlfriend? You really are setting the bar very low as to lifelong memories.

But, fair play, pump yourself up ..

    Really?

I trust that's deflection. If it's not you're one of the biggest online arseholes I've ever seen.

No, the Dutch are really nice in my experience. Ive known quite a few and, yeah, very nice. Maybe the odd arsehole who hates Germany/France/the moon .. but hed be out the loop.

Every country has its arseholes tbf to them though.

Like Scotland The Netherlands were fairly pish at this tournament but I bet the Dutch fans weren't feeling sorry for Germany when they got pumped out by England.

They would have all been on Stropwafel and Ginever saying in Dutch "Get it up ye Fritz"

Not sure tbh. The Dutch I know are really nice guys .. no sense of seethe and hate about them anyway.

I think they care more about their own team too than any others.

    Yep.

    We've come home.

well, you never left tbh .. like the country everyone forgot about this tourney.

    Were Scotland there even?

One point, one goal .. and thats the best Scottish performance for like 25 years.

Better luck in the next World Cup Finals .. oh, no .. wait ..

    See you in 2096!!

They consciously tried to play the tournament like Portugal in 2016, one of the most eye-gougingly turgid major teams to win a trophy.

Get me Rio Ferdinand's tears on an IV.

Unlike Scotland who just shat their bed immediately .. err, yeah, embarrassing stuff for England to lose on penalties .. in the final

When they could be cheering on five other countries instead ..

Three Lions on a bus....going home with f**k all.

Tactical masterclass by Southgate, to bring on those two duds for penalties.

What a night to be Scottish!

Fantastic achievement by Steve and the boys. And the Tartan Army!!

The way they cheered on five other countries in their bedsits until one won is the stuff of legends.

And onto the World Cup .. err .. well, err .. maybe look after your TVs .. youll need them .. as usual to watch England .. yet again.

  10. England bossing this.

Someone posted the stats that they are practically walking in every goal they score in this tournament.

World class stuff from England .. but Italy are no mugs.

Country will be very proud of them whatever happens now Id say. Fantastic achievement to even be in the final.

High street bookmakers get hundreds of coupons delivered 3 times a week.

I know this because a) I used to work in the industry and b) I visit shops and still speak to people in the industry.

I'm sorry to have to break this to you, but the coupon fairy doesn't print them on a microwave in the middle of the night for the staff.

Actually, Ive realised what must have happened when you started to "work in the industry"  :

Guy 1 : "Weve got this new guy called Frank starting today .. he seems an absolute fud. Lets prank him .. make out that the coupons are really valuable and we can only get them by special delivery from the overnight train from London .. once a week"

Guy 2 : "Ah, come one, no one is that stupid to believe that"

Guy 1 : "Wait till you meet Frank."

Four years later and no one has had the heart to break it to Frank that they were messing with him.

Frank : "Can you phone London and ask the typesetters to print out some more coupons for the train on Friday"

Guy 2 : "Err, yeah, sure thing Frank .. I'll phone London up right now" (*pushes print on the small printer*)

Especially amusing was not just your incredibility that printers can be the size of microwaves, nor that these mythical machines would be operated by coupon fairies (as the concept is that far out) ... but the assumption that the coupon fairies would need to work through the night to be able to print out the coupons.

When did you "work in the industry"? 1864?

Have they really exceeded expectations? I had them as favourites for the group.

The Italy game is genuinely the first game I expect them to lose.

I think getting past Germany was probably the tipping point as to expectations. Of course, getting bummed by either Ukraine or Denmark would have then negated that a bit.

But, yeah, to reach the final will be seen as a massive achievement Im sure .. however disappointing losing the final might be seen as.

And, agree, Italy should be favourites for this. Even just comparing goalkeepers .. Pickford is well overdue an absolute howler.
